Peterborough Off

But no one knows that until they try. The point is the poster didn’t check first.
That’s fair enough but seriously if they had them on for the Burton game and it got called off I think Saturdays game was always going to be foregone conclusion they simply can’t cope with the cold conditions.
We were the only league 1 game off on Tuesday night and we’re one of only 2 called off for tomorrow (as it stands) which doesn’t sound very good at all I’am afraid and has to be looked in to.

I agree it’s not enough. However my point was the poster made it sound as though no effort had been made, it had, but obviously not enough.

Wind chill tomorrow will make it feel like -10, that's pretty bone-chilling. The ground will just be rock hard. Accept the whole country is in a prolonged cold snap. Warmer next week.

Well if it is anything like the temperatures in Lincolnshire last night I am not surprised it is off. Got down to minus 9 and today was the coldest day I have known this winter. Zero degrees on the thermometer, but with the wind chill it felt about 5 degrees lower. Snow on the ground and standing water have all frozen up

They have had hot air blowers on since Tuesday. Check your facts before throwing aspersions about.
Ooooh. Get you.
Well given there was only one small patch to the left of the penalty area on Tues evening, did the covers not go straight back on? The blowers must have the heat output of a candle. Not like it was frozen solid on Tuesday given it could & should have gone ahead.

Have any of you actually played on a frozen pitch?
No doubt you have like me but then it was Sunday League and I just wanted a game.
The reality was it was an effing joke and we shouldn’t have but we were keen amateurs not professionals whose footballing career could come to an abrupt end because they have to commit and we don’t.
Everyone including me wants to see us play but not just for the sake of it.

Anyway it could be worse...1963.😳

“How come Fleetwood could get there game on but we can’t?” is actually laughable.

The difference is Fleetwood & Doncaster were two teams that BOTH wanted to play their game.

Burton weren’t interested in playing - they’re fighting for their lives and the more time off they have to integrate their new signings the more chance they have of picking up points. Do people actually believe the pitch was playable at 18:00, and then within the space of 50 minutes became so frozen that players were slipping on it (all whilst they were out warming up)?

I agree not enough was done, however your post made it sound as if nothing was done. It was but as we both agree not enough.

All they have to do is tap into this board and they'll get plenty of hot air and advice. Unbelievable.

I've been a member of, and supporter of the various Blackpool fans boards since their inception, and they used to be good fun, informative and occasionally miserable. NOW, the AVFTT side is all moans and groans, and yes that's what I'm doing, and the Politics side is like a cabal with distinct lines in the sand of those who post on it.

I'm becoming rather sick and tired of it all and although no one will have noticed I rarely, now, add my ten penneth to most of the threads and probably won't do for some time.

I was sceptical all week for the simple fact the pitch gets no direct sunlight at this time of year, unlike smaller clubs whose grounds generally do.
Without the premier league legacy, we will always be at the mercy of the elements

But the plus side of all these postponed home games there is a much better chance of attended games the way covid is now being dealt with.
The figures today are very encouraging and my doctors today said I am band 6 and they have almost completed band four.
The test game I attended should easily be deemed a success and if they only keep it a that low figure if they restart them its better than nothing.
Living in a bit more hope but if not roll on next season ⚽⚽⚽🙄

Not sure why there is so much debate about this. Outside the PL I don't think there will be many on tomorrow. The ground is rock hard, it would be dangerous for the players.

Anybody know how old the covers are? I know Koko bought one lot from Ipswich. I'm sure new covers would have better technology and be more efficient. Feel a bit sorry for the groundsman in all this

Blame Covid and their being fuck all to do apart from moan on a football forum.

I did some volunteering for the post Catweazle/Bowlhead era comeback game and ended up on covers duty. Trying to cover the worst bits of a soaking wet mudbath of a pitch with a few scratty bits of cloth is something that will live long in the memory. What covers were available were mouldy and full of dead snails. In the corner under the SE exit there were also some ancient looking pitch lights that looked like a relic from WW1 🤨

Looking at the image from today/yesterday I'm guessing new supplies have been secured since 👍

Wouldn’t be surprised if the EFL decide to investigate after two games called off, especially as other league one clubs have managed to get there’s on. Let’s remember, they’re not friends of ours after we harangued them for not doing anything about the Oystons and protesting outside their headquarters.

Fleetwood get the game on because none of the pitch is in shade because the stands are literally 10 feet high.

Oh, and Fylde arent playing tomorrow. Game off.
It’s nothing to do with the weather though.

Gateshead don’t want to spend cash they don’t have on what could be a needless trip down to the Fylde coast not knowing if the season is going to finish or not.

Sounds like a right shambles, Dog food Dave will be fuming yet again and rightly so utter farce.
