Peterborough v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 07.05.22

Hmm thanks for that. Edit to say larger numbers of better players etc etc etc etc. Once we get past the first seven or eight write ins we are struggling for parity with the squads of most clubs in this league. Hopefully close season will adjust that imbalance a little.
We have proven all season that our squad can compete against any squad in the league. These last two performances have nothing to do with tired bodies or better players, our team finished the season two games ago, our fans on the other hand didn't.

I'll leave it there. Enjoy your summer.

That’s what happens with the spine of the team totally changed, it was worse than the first few games before we started to gel together. Good season without doubt, but the next one will be harder I fear.

Awful, disappointing way to finish the season. Neil Critchley and the team should be rightfully embarrassed by this result, the travelling fans deserved so much better.

Loads of positives from this season not least our survival in this higher division, we've taken points off teams with vastly superior budgets to ours and competed in pretty much every game.

It's obvious to all that we do need some changes and as supporters we just need to wait and see. Thanks to Critch and the playing staff for their efforts this season.

Let's not let today define what has been a superb effort by everyone involved.

We have when it mattered mostly, still disappointing to play like that with a lot of full of people coming back, not played much and squad players.

Still expected far better.

Some criticism was made toward those fans who said the would not be attending the last 2 or 3 dead rubber games, can you blame them on this performance? If the players don't care why should they?

Awful end to the season. Feel sorry for the travelling support. Should dispel any complacency or false expectations for next season. Hope Critch can learn and get the squad sorted.

Critchley picked the right team. The result was irrelevant and he tried to give players who haven't played as much or are young and up-and-coming a game. The only thing he got wrong was not taking Hamilton off as well and giving Apter 20 minutes. Unfortunately the whole team was not at the races, with miscontrols, misplaced passes and lack of movement all classic signs of 'one of those days'.

BY the way, well done to young Mariette who looked calm and composed and who put a great through ball into Jerry Yates, only for Jerry to miscontrol it.

Thought I’d share a post from the PNE forum earlier (not me). 😀

Hahahahahahahha ** hilarious.

Will be going down next season.

They started a thread after they beat Barnsley 2-0 saying ‘we are always in their shadow.’

Well it looks like the deluded fuckers fucked up again.

Big fat boo from them fans tonight.

Hahahahahah shit turds. And I hope they copy and paste this on their forum because they really are a shitty small club. 5-0. Hahahaha shit bastards.

Why where so many first team regulars rested today? Seriously…there about to go into a summer break?..we already know most of the fringe players aren’t much kop...? 😎

You mean too much tinkering today.
Yep, I saw the team and though it would do better and it should have.

But when you think about it more the entire engine in midfield was way off it, Carey not played in months and Stewart our for weeks, not kicked a ball.

Casey not played much and Keogh with experience goes off, Marv who probably knew he wasn't playing and is in end of season mode comes on.

Garbutt hardly played, No RB available so again Connolly to fill in.

Beesley and Yates never played together for more than a few minutes.

Dale not played much, tried stuff but didn't get the ball quick enough to him really. CJ who seems to be pulling out of tackles given his past injury, thats great don't get injured again but he was really bad.

There was no cohesion or efficient pressing like we often see.

Bad touches and no quality.

Very poor all round.

Utter crap. Nothing riding on it but those who took the field today with the exception of the youngsters off the bench, should have a look at themselves. Gutless and inept performance to end the season.

Let's not write all our players off after what we've achieved this season, a few shrewd signings a few back from injury & match fit, then we can start again next season.

I think the travelling support sang loudly out of pure embarrassment.
Posh fans must've thought they were all barking mad travelling so far to watch such a spineless performance.
Was Critchley guilty of complacency too?

Back home now in Suffolk after watching the game with two of my boys and two non-Pool friends. Such a disappointing performance. Embarrassing really. If we'd known that the reserves were going to be given a run out a lot of Pool fans could have saved themselves a very long journey from the North West. It's been a great season but an unnecessarily disappointing final game. Hopefully it acts as a reminder to the club that the squad needs more quality.

Its only the first pre season friendly to see where we are regarding the fringe players & permutations. Critchley probably learnt a lot more from that than he would've by putting our strongest XI out & winning 1-2 or something . So given the circumstances I'm not too worried about it .

Hello fellow Suffolk seasider, agreed from Woodbridge!

relax guys, everyone knows the last game of the season with nothing to play for is basically a kick about. Good day out in the sun, meeting friends and family. Did anyone really expect a 1st XI ?
