Police investigating racist chants

I didnt hear any homophobic, or racist chants from our fans.

Their lot did the usual smackheads and drag queen chant, plus the one around the drowning of police and a dog.

Listening to the chanting during the game, I wonder if the “Town full of Smackheads” chant from the knobbers has been misheard by someone listening in perhaps?
Yep that was the only chant of that tune I think, the guy claiming it on pne online was watching on ifollow and we know away fans are crystal clear on ifollow due to the microphones in the east.

Heard themselves.

Spot on. All you can hear on Ifollow and radio is the away fans due to the commentary position (which is REALLY annoying BTW). Whoever has made the complaint is clearly hearing the Preston fans singing these songs.

At the end of the day you’re gunna get chants at all football matches but they’re not aimed at one individual in any case

So what have you done regarding the homophobic chants made towards Blackpool fans during the game?
I've received many reports about both sexist and homophobic chanting and some about racist language as well. Regardless of whether the complaints are by home fans about away fans, away fans about home fans, home fans about other home fans or away fans about other away fans (and I got all of those on Saturday) I report them in to the Club's Ground Safety Officer and raise them with Club and police in post-match debriefs.

Let's get it right there is one chant sung by some our ours that's embarrassing

Cringe every time I hear it

We need to be better than that and generally are
If it’s the one I’am thinking it is It’s no different than singing about a town full of queers, fags, etc.
Whilst I agree it’s cringeworthy it’s not just Pool fans singing these sort of songs as was the case on Saturday.

So while the police are launching fake investigations against Blackpool fans, the SUPPORTERS LIASON OFFICER for BLACKPOOL FC is doing nothing regarding the HOMOPHOBIC CHANTS made TOWARDS BLACKPOOL FC fans?

WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING......?

AND HOW DO YOU KNOW HE'S NOT DOING ANYTHING..........See, now you have got me doing IT....!!!!

I'm positive the SLO will be visiting the homes of every PNE supporter, that was at the game on Saturday and having a quite word with them.
What more do you want?

why is it the responsibility of the BFC SLO to deal with complaints made by PNE fans about other PNE fans? Do PNE not have their own SLO? Seems odd that a PNE fan would get in touch with you to make a complaint about another PNE fan.

Steve is Blackpool's SLO not just the Home Supporters SLO
His remit extends to complaints received from away fans

You missed half of the point of your last sentence. And that is complaints received from away fans about away fans. If a PNE fan has a problem with another PNE fan then ultimately it's not gonna be the BFC SLO that deals with it and take any action is it? Surely that responsibility lies with the PNE SLO and PNE themselves. Surely any PNE fans who had tickets for the match will be on PNE's database not BFC's. Like I said, it seems odd that a PNE fan would complain about another PNE fan to the BFC SLO. Example if I had a problem with you at an away game why would i report it to the home SLO?

Did you not read my reply? Homophobic chanting by PNE fans (along with all other complaints received) has been reported to the club's GSO and the police and all incidents will be reviewed. That's standard procedure after games, not just Saturday's.

To 20's point, what happens inside Bloomfield Road is a matter for our GSO and the police, though out of courtesy I do advise the away club's SLO if there have been issues with any of their own fans (and I did so regarding Saturday).

Steve has dealt with this however you are also drawing assumptions that the PNE fans are complaining about their own fans ie mis-hearing chants
Fact remains anything re issues at a BFC home game falls under the home club's SLO jurisdiction

Nope, I haven't mentioned any type of particular incident whatsoever. Neither have I made an assumption. The BFC SLO categorically stated he received complaints from away fans about away fans. That's what prompted my comment.

Do we know the specifics of what is being alleged as far a chants inside of the ground are concerned?

Appreciate that you might not be able to comment on the individual matters (such as individual abuse) but the chant allegations potentially concern all of us.

I think it’s the second time that the Police have now gone public with regard to these ‘allegations’ and I’m assuming last time (given we’ve heard nothing since) that nothing came of it.

Given they are quick to go public with their allegations, it would also be good if they would also go just as public, when confirming that no offences have been identified following their investigation. As these things do affect the reputation of the Club and our fans.

There will (no doubt) be tit for tat accusations, some of which might be mischievous and others may be mistaken / misheard (notably the “Town full of Smackheads” chant).

There’s also some uncertainty amongst fans as to what does and what does not cross the line.

Are (for example) chants like

‘Here for the gay bars’

‘Tower / Mosque’

‘Crack Whore / Queen’

considered to be genuinely racist / homophobic or just a bit of Town related banter? If they are, then let’s be specific (both Club and Police) and let Fans know in order that they are aware of where the problem lies.

It was probably “Are you a man or a woman?!” at their left back.

They’ll be someone with blue hair and a load of cats saying he doesn’t need to identify as either.

All getting a bit silly this.

You fat bastard will be banned next, afterall it might not be anything the individual can do about it.

What about a chant saying you ugly bastard, not a lot they can do about that, so surely offensive....

Plod are a bloated civil service organization, that produce nothing of any merit but yet demand full cooperation from the British taxpayer. There numbers should be slashed and their stripey cars removed from service. They should be made to walk the beat and be paid on a pro rata basis for successful arrests resulting in formal prosecution.
