Port Vale v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 29.12.23

I like Critchley.

I don't care how he left last time.

But, for the life of me, I cannot understand why you would continue with the same system that has failed so often. It's not working and unless and until we get players who can do it away, it needs to change.

I don't think he will.

I also don't think he's going to be in fear of his job.

Win or lose tonight it really doesn't matter! Its been clear for a long time that Simon re-appointing Critchley was just naive and lazy management! Abandoning us overnight for the bright lights of the prem, then sacked by Villa, sacked by QPR after just TWELVE games in charge, yet according to Sadler, he was the only name that repeatedly popped up on his independent list of potential new managers?

Yeah right!

Some Bolton fans aired their displeasure when they appointed Ian Evatt, so experience or no experience, I'd currently appoint Dobbie in a heartbeat..
The special report said Neil, but did it even account for his first games in charge and the role assistants played? The likelihood of him doing well after his last spells and with fans not taking to him the same way? Also, who else has in this report.

I swear Critchley gave up on 3 at the back and switched to 433 much sooner than this in his first stint. I don’t get what point he’s trying to prove by sticking with it so vehemently? It didn’t work last time and it’s not working this time. Is it a pride thing? Will he feel too embarrassed if he gives up on this formation now and gives into fan’s criticisms?

Agreed entirely. Nothing against him leaving and coming back, but this system is so fucked. I cannot understand it at all.

I agree

I'm fed up of a few more things Chizzy is saying.
- can't find a Blackpool shirt
- passes back

Agree with this, his job isn’t at risk.

The players don’t seem revved up either - who is motivating them?
