Povada

Ok , At some stage all our so called flair players were on that pitch at sometime during the 90 minutes ,all except Povada . So now the manager has made a mistake by not playing Povada . Well I can't say for a fact ,but there are strong rumours that Povada thinks he is bigger then Blackpool FC . He is suppose to have an attitude problem , he is on one of the biggest wages and thinks he should always start every game . Appleton didn't play him at first because of this and I am sure that MM will not be bullied into dropping players that do honest work for someone who thinks they don't have too or changing formations to fit him in.

Last time he played it was noted by some fans that he didn't help that much in defending. You also have that situation against a 6ft+ Southampton goalie trying to be chipped rather then just banging it in the net. Is this the right attitude. Before people moan they need to know everything and they don't . MM has the experience to have a go at sorting this with the players he has been left with. These are the players that Appleton left him with and if they are not good enough then MM will go . One thing that did stand out though, is that these players in general are working their socks off for him and those booing fans should be ashamed of themselves.

If we were mid table I could go along with the Poveda theory fact is we’re rock bottom and more than every other player in our squad he’s the one player than can offer something different it was crying out for it yesterday.

McCarthy is playing a very dangerous game if that’s the case as he should be playing his strongest 11 and as we all know Poveda should be playing.

Agree to a certain extent ,but people said that about Bowler. The thing is if he has got this attitude ,and gets chosen to play . How would the other midfielders who run their socks off for the team feel if they keep getting overlooked. Moral would plummet even further. No one player is bigger then the team.

It’s the lack of tracking back is his problem with MM
Yep, same reason why MM wasn’t keen on Bowler, Poveda is similar. I love him but he doesn’t do much when we’re out of possession which is why Mick won’t rate him.

Good points. My thoughts are that if MM does not want to play him why name him on the bench and not put him on especially when he is sorely needed. Make your mind up Mick play him or leave him out.

The issue MM has in not playing him is he's cutting off his nose to spite his face. Maybe Poveda is a prick, maybe he doesn't train great, maybe he thinks he's too big for Blackpool maybe MM just thinks he's too small who knows but whatever the issue is MM needs to be bigger than that and accept that at the moment needs must and what he definitely is, is an excellent player who could help get us out of the sh1t we are in so swallow your pride and play him.

One question for you to answer Carey ran his socks off yesterday and was totally ineffective. Is that your answer to our current predicament?

I try not be too negative about any player but I don't think Carey is the answer to anything for us in the Championship. He's had loads of opportunity and I think he is far short of where he should be. Just running around isn't enough and i don't even think he has that good an engine or frightening pace. If we go down that might be his level but this isn't.

Seems the o/p has no time for any player with flair or who can do something a bit different. I agree that if Poveda has off the field issues as rumoured then yep don't pick him but I have to go back to the o/p and Poveda at Southampton. He makes out that just banging the ball into the net is the easiest thing in the world. Well it isn't and that's why clubs pay many millions of pounds for top quality strikers. They are the most expensive and valuable players on the pitch. They often do things by instinct. So sure it looked easier to just bang the ball into the net but he tried something by instinct and it didn't come off. In fact, his follow up miss was much worse. Yes it was a bad miss, a shocker but jeez, missing a chance has nothing to do with attitude.

At least spell his name properly you numpty!

He does track back, in fact he runs and puts himself about a lot the difference being he has the ability to take the ball from central midfield and run past the opposition defenders and can either lay it off or go for goal. He is going to have to pick him soon as we are running out of players, but you just seem to think hoofing the ball and scrapping is going to keep us up, it really isn't.

I don't know much about loan deals ,but there might be something in the deal that he has to be
included in the team sheet. Just a guess maybe.

No and I would not have picked Carey to start ,but playing Carey probably would not upset the other midfielders as much as someone bullying their way onto the team sheet.

Just realised I replied and agreed with your post and didn't notice it was you !

I wasn't one of those who noticed how lazy he was . I picked that up from other peoples posts, but if its true about his attitude then I don't care how good he is ,he should never be played . I would hate to play with someone like that and it effects people on all levels . Nobody likes bullies and I am sorry about my spelling , but you managed to understand who I meant . I am sure you have never made a spelling mistake and become a numpty .It's a bit shit being one.

Oh I see, we are not picking the players to win games, we are picking those who won’t upset anybody. Are we having well being sessions at half time as well, just in case anyone feels like talking about team mates who might have upset them by not being nice.🤡

Sorry ,but in my last job I had to work with a team ,we had to rely on each other every day . If we got someone who did not want to be a team player it caused problems for the rest of us. Now I don't know what you do for a living ,but I am telling you now ,you get one bad apple and the team stops functioning properly. We really don't need that when the team is struggling so badly. He will cost us if it's true about him and he has his way and bullied his way onto the team . MM can't stop rot

If he’s, as you put it, bullying his way into the team he’s not doing a very good job of it, Appleton didn’t play him for months and MaCarthy hasn’t played him either.

So from that you must be thinking there is something not right there . If 2 managers are not playing a talent like his then he is doing something to upset them. Possibly bullying is the wrong word , maybe arrogant is more accurate.

MM: Play him or send him back, don't sit on the fence and waste a substitution.
Can we still sign out of contract players?
If so, the recruiting team & MM need to get a couple sorted for SS to sign this week. Otherwise with the injuries & suspensions, we'll soon be playing the development squad players.

I’m not the manager and I don’t know Poveda, but personally I wouldn’t care how arrogant he is, if he’s one of my best players, he plays. It also depends what you interpret as arrogance, if someone is extremely good at something, they have a lot to be pleased about, if that comes across as arrogant or cocky, so what, as long as they perform that should be all that matters.

Non-contract players = next hamstring injury.

You my friend would not make a manager.

Agreed ,as long as it doesn't effect the rest of the team to the extent that why should they be bothered working hard if someone is going to be chosen before them . Nobody can deny they worked hard against Rotherham

Carey did ok, putting Poveda on for the last 30 minutes was a no brainier,we needed that bit extra against an average team that couldn’t have handled him, after mm raving about him v Southampton he must have done something pretty bad to not get on, if he did then why waste a space on the bench if he had no intention of bringing him on?
There’s some weird goings on behind the scenes at the pool

I agree entirely, my post was to a tense grin, who doesn’t think Poveda should be anywhere near the team. He seems to think we should play people who, in his words, run their socks off. Whether they’re the best players or not.

I think you make a good point AR. It's whether MMcC has the psychology to get him in as a team player whilst retaining that edge that gives him his skills. That's management.

He clearly had a bit of an epiphany when they went to Spain during the WC break as he came back and was picked and was outstanding. The trouble with a player like that is that they can easily revert to type and if he has thrown a strop and is not doing what he should be then that disrupts the team and coaches as a whole and we son't need that now, or any time so talented as he is, f these are the reasons then I wouldn't be playing him either unless he apologises and sorts himself out. If it is just because MM doesn't like him as a player that's another thing entirely. I don't know the answer but I hope it's the first reason and not the second. We could bloody well do with him in the team.

He's been issued a pair of stilts but is having trouble in training getting used to them. He's frustrated because he can only hoof the ball into the air. Every time he tries a jinking run he falls off. It's a wonder he hasn't injured himself yet.

Frustrating for us fans knowing Poveda could be the key to unlocking our goal scoring and winless problems, only to be fed scraps that he "might" be Billy big bollocks.

For me, if he scores or assists enough goals rest of the season to keep us up on the championship, then I don't care what supposed attitude he "might" have!!!

Your last sentence, while I don’t disagree with the rest, is probably the most important part just now. We need players who can find us a couple of wins PDQ. Bad attitude although not desirable at any time, we aren’t exactly bursting with talent just now.

Does anyone really know if there are disciplinary issues? As has already been said, why was he on the bench then? Not putting him on, problems or not, against Rotherham, even as a 70 minute sub, was criminal
