Reading v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 25.02.23

We are that bad it doesn't warrant the amount of discussion on here about the football. There's no substance to it and it's embarrassing.

Time to say "Thanks Mick you tried your best but it just hasn't been good enough, don't let the door hit you on the arse on you way out" and get ready for next season, which will be more than a struggle. I can't fathom out why Mr Sadler has let this happen so easily. He's lost interest and it has been showing all season 🤬☹️

Yet some people on here still think we’ll survive. 🤣

We’re rock bottom for a reason and the reason is we are the worst side in this league by a country mile. 👎
Remember months ago, people calling me negative for predicting exactly this. Sometimes what is the point of being positive when the outcome is so obvious. Still hurts and still get angry but really should be used to it.

I’ve stayed positive right up to this game, we had a chance to turn it around especially with others around us doing just as bad but I can’t see us getting out of this now. It’s going to be a dogfight between the current bottom 3 and Cardiff.
Oh well, away trips to the likes of Cheltenham and Wycombe next season by the looks of it. 😟

I lied - still watching because this has been my club all my life, but it’s soul destroying seeing us in this situation. There has to be considerable change at the club to get things on the right footing and I think that has to start at the top.

Subs too late - again!

Reading had won one in eight. We are awful and showing no signs of being able to win games. The team today felt like a last throw of the dice and it's not gone well. Been trying to stay positive but it really does seem like we're heading to League One.

Not a chance when the Manager keeps changing the defence every game and playing a midfield that has never played together. We are playing like complete strangers. As for upfront, we don't have one fit forward available to bring on, that is down to recruitment and nothing else.

Devoid of confidence, devoid of quality, weak as piss at the back.

An absolutely disgraceful season given how positive it was last season and how easy it would be to build on that.

Instead we've had mistake after mistake. Obvious mistakes too.

Then Barrow and Tranmere the season after

Right, this structured dialogue meeting needs to become a free question event, no time to plan political answers from sycophantic supporters.

Sadler needs to face some real questions and man up and be honest. Of course that is never going to happen. He is the boss, he is in charge, he takes the plaudits when things go well, but I'm afraid he has to take the can for this. It's not been the odd mistake, it's been a catalogue of naivety and neglect. I'm sorry but he made the wrong decision when he bought the club. A vanity project that has backfired massively.

I put down the players in our match day squad today earlier in the thread and also a list of our injured layers, I have put them below again. If you look at that it ells you all you need to know about why we are where we are. Quitch went because he saw it coming, MA was a ludicrous appointment as was McCarthy. There has been no investment on the pitch for 18 months, that is unforgivable, why? Only Sadler knows, but he has let the club down and when we go down we are in a desperate situation with about 9 players that will be left in the squad. Never mind a promotion push we will more likely be in another relegation battle.

I'm fed up with hearing Sadler saved the ** club, he really didn't, he has done what had to be done, that's all and now he is turning his back because he is totally clueless. I'm sure I will get dog's abuse by the usual Sadler lovers but I don't care, the bloke is not the right person to run our football club. This season has been as bad as anything we experienced under the vermin football wise and I hate typing that.

Take out the loan players and it's

Maxwell
Lyons
Nelson
Husband
Thorniley
Garbutt
Connolly
Carey
Madine
Lavery
Grimshaw
CJ
Dougall
Gabriel

Injured players are

Yates
Anderson
Fiorini
Bridcutt
Stewart
Goode
Ekpiteta
Trybull
Beesley
Lavery

Of those 8 are probably out for the rest of the season but even if they were fit how many would actually make a difference?

Yates
Fiorini
Stewart
Marv
Trybull

The recruitment of players has been negligent.
