Recent claims to fame

Was at the climbing wall in Les Houches and watched Victor Saunders fall off a very easy route! One for the mountaineers on here 🏔️

Impressive list ☺️ ... When I was younger and the old fella was in Tull & Stealers wheel we lived in Henley/London for a while, I met stars I didn't realise were stars... I'd kill to meet some of them again knowing now who they were/are.. The biggest impression and memory though is John Pertwee (Dr Who at the time) ..
A good impression?

Just before covid I was mithered to fcuk at work from a band's manager wanting to get them some publicity and offering free gigs.
The band was Hardwicke Circus, no I'd never heard if them either, and after giving them 1 gig the reports were that they were 💩 so they never got another off me despite their managers efforts.

Imagine my surprise last year to see them all over the national news getting a spot at Glastonbury via McCartney.
Their manager was well connected mind, he is Dave Robinson and founder / owner of stiff records.
He also produced the Bob Marley lp Legends whilst at Island records.

I was almost run over by Prince Andrew's car at the Birkdale '98 Open.

He didn't even stop to apologise. Git

Declan Rices dad Shaun used to be an area sales manager for Grahams Builders Merchants and looked after the company I work for’s account , Shaun’s a big big Chelsea fan so was always full of stories about Declan going through the system there.
Shaun‘s a real sharp guy and very street wise so no surprise a few years ago he left Grahams to look after Declan in fact I think he’s his manager , the family is set for life now fair play to em 👍🏻
my wife worked with Declan's mum at Kingston Grammar School.

Friends with the scruffy ones from Afterlife and Derek.

Sat on Rolf Harris's knee as a kid at the Animal Hospital roadshow and asked if he preferred hamsters or gerbils 😬

Played snap with Brett Omerod, Richie Wellens, Gordon Strachan and Steve Ogrozovic...who Strachan got in a fight with for smoking.

Recently...met Marlon Harewood staring at types of Dutch cheese in a Carrefour.

Hosted Keir Starmer and Yvette Cooper for 3 hours earlier this year.

Met Princess Anne back in November (when I say met, it was a few minutes).

Met with the co-founder of The Big Issue last week, not the Lord though 😁

Had a lovely chat with Savannah Marshall a couple of weeks back, before she became the two weight world champion.

There's a few things on the pipeline if you think meeting and working with politicians is interesting.

Not me, but a couple of weeks ago a relative of mine was in the queue at Dublin Airport, boarding was delayed and in front of her was an 80 odd year old American lady. My relation said to her, go and sit down and we'll hold your place in the queue. The old lady said, not at all she was fine. They got talking and it turned out to be Candi Staton the singer on her way to Glastonbury having just played at a festival in Ireland . Every credit to her. I saw her doing an hour set on TV a few days later. Not bad for an 82 year old. Young Hearts Run Free and all that.

Brought down Tricky Trev in a vets match couple of years ago with a cracking tackle when he was clear on goal. NB When I say vets my best was division 4 in Sunday league.

was relieving myself in the gents at the NEC during the Photography Show there when David Bailey stepped up to the one next to me.

We didn't shake hands

We were in the que for a flight to Germany at Manchester Airport, (1990) near the front of the que as well, suddenly a bloke turned up with 4 people carrying his bags and went straight to the front of the que, my mate when straight over to him & said get to the back of the que, no pushing in, one of the bag carriers said this is Dizzy Gillespie, my mate said, I don't give a sh#t who it is, get to the back of the que or get some seaside aggro, they moved to the back of the que.

Dustin Hoffman, Roger Whittaker, des O'Connor, Sultan Of Brunai, Princess Di's Dad , and his snooty wife (not Dai's Ma).

Plenty others but the memory fades as you get older.

Was in a London Eye capsule whilst an American news channel were asking Britains about what they thought about the whole Barbie phenomenon! Not sure if I got on but I blagged a very good answer!

I know Mark Radcliffe ( as in Mark and Lard Radio 1) Got to know him about 18 years ago from going to see his band. He did a gig for me at Bamber Bridge FC in 2019, and is doing another one in October to help club funds.

Just in case anyone wants to go

I was once wearing a home made t-shirt of record picture sleeves by 80s artist Thomas Dolby (she blinded me with science fame) at a retro evening. Iwent to the toilets and in came Mr Dolby himself joking should he not get royalties for my tshirt.

My Missis is a big fan of his.
