I think my existing central heating boiler is on its last legs, can anyone recommend a good plumber to fit a new boiler, and also which boilers are good quality, I was told IDEAL are decent boilers

My lad works here and they seem very professional

Don't think they will be the cheapest but worth getting a quote

My lad was out sorting out an OAP last night who's pipes had frozen and as they couldn't sort the owners put her up in a hotel !

I would avoid IDEAL, mine needed a new motherboard every year, and pumps twice. I only go for Worcester Bosch now. Whatever you do, it can't be a BAXI for obvious reasons.

Hydrus plumbing and heating did mine in june very efficient and reasonable price ,i can give you number if you like, based in skem i think attended in two days very tidy removed all the rubbish same day £1800 inc vat .

Another for Worcester. Had a Greenstar 32 fitted year last June. All the wifi connectivity (tbh they all do as extras now). Boiler cost around 1200 and I had it moved as well, so loads of pipe rerouting and total was 2800 inc VAT.

Had a Baxi- never again.

I've had an Ideal boiler for a good few years now and it's been faultless. At the time I had it installed they also had longer warranties than most other boilers. Before that I had a Worcester Bosch, which I had no end of trouble with. Luck of the draw I suppose.

Yep into my seventh year out of a ten year warranty and touch wood never had an issue.

On a side note my parents boiler stopped working yesterday and a few others I know the pipe outside had frozen so had to put hot water onto it to get it back on.

He will give you honest quote and advice

Can't help with a fitter as we live t'other side of the Pennines but we had an Ideal fitted last year when our Greenstar went bandit, it's half the size, cheaper to run and still does the job brilliantly.

It's a bit like cars, you ask the same question & get totally contradictory answers. Everything is shite these days under engineered. If some offer a 10 year guarantee without any major strings I'd go for that as most of shit they knock out these days seems to give up after 7-8 years.

Another vote for Worcester, I went with British Gas, great price and got 5 year warranty plus Hive extras thrown i

Brendan is very good at Blackpool plumbing and heating. He fit us a new boiler etc in September very neat and tidy job and very reasonably priced. 5 year warranty and also baxi registered nice guy

Just had mine replaced last month.
Anyone that knows anything about boilers will always recommend a particular type of boiler mine recommends Baxi they have great after sales, great for parts, great for talking to an expert.
The worst for after sales/parts/support are Worcester Bosch for all the wrong reasons, crap after sales, hard to get parts, difficult to speak to an expert, most internal parts are made of plastic, and twice the price of other manufacturers, yes all boilers are great till they break down.
My plumber/gas heating engineer only deals in Baxi these days as far less trouble to not only fit and carry out repairs/servicing is so much easier.
Be warned though my mate ordered 20 boilers back end of last summer to date he’s received just 5 as like everything else there’s shortages in manufacturing and that’s just not Baxi.
