Hi Foodies!

We are at the theatre next Saturday night to see Julius Caesar. Don’t normally eat in town, so would like recommendations for best restaurants in Blackpool?

There’s 4 of us (no kids!) and love good restaurants but have no idea in Blackpool.

was at the Grand a couple of weeks back and was looking for the same. Someone said Vimtro Lounge on corner of Abingdon and Chursh st opposite the Winter Gardens was decent so we tried it. It's not fine dining but is pretty decent. It's sort of like an American Diner.

Thanks all. Love this forum sometimes!!!

I’ll take a look at them and confer with the ‘bosses’

100%. The bank bar and grill. Food is always amazing and staff are very pleasant and very clean premises. Can’t go wrong

It's upsetting how shite the centre is for good food considering the amount of tourism it sees.

My best bet would be West Coast Rock Cafe.

Or Nandos 😅

I think its slim pickings for the town centre in terms of quality.

Amaro is decent enough and close to the theatre.

That new street food Indian place gets good reviews but I haven’t visited yet.

I'm with you there LALA.

There's not many stand out restaurants in Blackpool town centre.

There's a little Italian on Ceder Square can't remember it's name they have a pre theatre menu, been a couple of times, quite good

It's not shite, there's a good few venues, many mentioned on here already.

Some shown in this.

People say Mamma's is good too. La fontana, sapori, east4west, twisted Indian Street food, vintro lounge, common, Amaro, the bank, akash tandoori, nandos, Stefanis etc etc.

Turtle Bay on the way.

There's plenty there.

Wok Inn opposite North Pier is quality Chunky. Michael Wan of the Mandarin is the owner & I always feel Chinese offers a socialabilty for a group.
Michael has long since met his maker, but good choices, Mandarin is nearer and probably more suited for the kids.

Yep...Italiao in South Shore is a popular one for us. Ciao ciao is class on Devonshire Road for eg.
I think food choices and quality in general is poor in Blackpool, but I have say that Ciao Ciao is very very good and Italiano is pretty good as well 👍👍

Yeah they are 2 of my favourite Italians to go to.

There's loads of places if people look around, more to come too. Can always be more and better but, for a town of that size there's plenty.

I’m actually back in the UK in the next few weeks so would be interested in other places as well, but from memory….

Michael Wans was always ok.
I have a spot in my heart for Ocean Palace.
Always thought West Coast was alright but not great.
The Indian opposite the Devi arms was always good until they stoped serving beer!
The Thai on Topping Street is very very good.
La Fantana was always dependable.

I struggle after that????

West coast rock is a must 👍👍
Absolutely great food, especially their burgers 👍

Ocean Palace has just celebrated 30 years open. Kai and Kitty still going strong!

Trying the newly opened Tiziano (Ambrosini) on Harrowside tomorrow night.

I haven’t been to la fontana since the covid eat out the help out, was good last time I went, if the portions a little small at that time for what I had, but very tasty amd went back again not long after.

There's loads of good restaurants mentioned above in the thread to go at, have a browse.

Not sure if anyone else has tried a few up in Bispham? Mi casa su casa, la piazza Bispham and Terra nostra?

Also 'The Eating Inn' is another on my list to try, I haven't yet, but gets good reviews. The stone grill another I've never tried but want to at some point.

For dinner in town I've often favoured Jks cafe, Quilliigans I've tried once and was alright, loads of choice.

For pizza Stefanis is class or Pizza Grazie is described as a hidden gem just off the front in basically the less desirable back alley, however it's in an Old church and reviews are excellent.

Anyone been to hip hop chicken yet? From the same guy as Stefanis and next door. Meant to be really good.

For the very near future...

The market is opening very soon, newly refurbished and will have food hall, owned by little Blackpool leisure, the guys behind common, dirty blondes, neighbourhood subs etc and are gaining a reputation for quality venues.

Also now confirmed is the street food near the pleasure beach, with food from around the world.

"Fresh food from around the globe sourced from local suppliers will be served from the shipping containers, mirroring similar street food destinations which have already proved popular in cities such as London and Manchester. The scheme, with seating for up to 400 diners, is also expected to create up to 80 new jobs with some chefs already recruited."

Glad they've got the green light JJ. I'd seen the original Gazette article about obesity & thought it had been scuppered.

No, council overruled the planning officers advice.

Sounds like it'll be decent and the council have bought into the vision.

That with the market food hall, Turtle Bay, Taco Bell all coming very soon.

👍

Some good reccys on here, Sapori is my favourite Italian and Booknark is a great Thai place on Topping St.

Overall though I’d go for Bank due to its close proximity to the Grand and excellent food and service.

If you don't mind going a couple of miles up the coast to Bispham, Terra Nostra on Red Bank Road is excellent if you like Italian.

Ahh that's one I wondered about, have you tried mi casa su casa and la piazza nearby?

Says it all when the town centres finest dining options are the choice of going for ‘a Chinese’, a pizzarea or burgers. Call me a snob if you like but it’s very limited

Common is really nice mexican and bar but if you're looking for a "posh" meal I'd eat before you arrive in Blackpool.

Haven't you read the thread naming Indians, Italians, European etc? Tons of options available of many types of food.

It’s still a very poor choice compared to other town/city centres. Only have to go as far as Poulton or Lytham to find a much better choice & quality.
There's probably 50 decent places listed on here and more not listed, nowhere near that amount or variety elsewhere in those smaller towns.

Not to say there isn't decent places there too, but people are quick to rubbish what Blackpool has and I bet hasn't even tried 1/4 of it.
