Richard O'Donnell Officially Signs

Seems like a good steady backup for Grimmy.

He's been around and will be coming to us high in confidence winning the player of the year at Rochdale. It doesn't really matter to me that they were in the conference last year.

He's got plenty of football league experience and will indeed bring an experienced head to the club.

Although I prefered Grimshaw, there was not a great deal between them. However Grimmy is younger and will still improve more and I'm afraid Maxwell was not good in many of the games towards the end of the season.
The difference between them is Grimmy's clean sheet ratio at its worse was every 3rd game was a clean sheet and Maxwell's was every 10th game.

You obviously don't know anything about goalkeepers.
I probably know as any Tom ,Dick or Harry that watches football ,but Maxwell was Critchleys No 1 until injury . Then he was Appletons No 1 and then he was MaCarthy's No 1 ,who do know more then every Tom, Dick and Harry that watches football. You obviously know more then them.

Probably nothing but he maybe wants to play games which he wasn't going to get by staying with us.
Looking at his career as a whole, he doesn’t appear ti have been overly bothered about playing games… He’s only really ever commanded a regular spot in any side at Non-League level, but has spent more seasons ‘not playing’ in and around L1 & L2 level.

There’s a reason he didn’t really feature for us and that’s because he wasn’t good enough. He was essentially an emergency keeper.

He was in League 2 last year

Wonder if he might actually be fighting Grimmy for that Number One spot - we've all been Team Grimmy for so long, have we actually taken the eye off the ball of how good a keeper Grimshaw actually is?

P.S. Is it me or does he look like the drummer from McFly!!

I would hope Critchley has told them, no favouritism, if you earn the shirt, you keep it until you don't.

Funny that three different managers chose Maxwell before Grimmy , yet someone from a town of car makers knows better then them . I don't know why we bother with people that have been in the game for years ? We can just ask the adult fans who may have taken drugs or be pissed up when going to matches and ask their opinion.
I'm pretty sure last season there was something of a hidden agenda around the question of who should be taking charge of the first choice keeper's jersey for matches in the 2022/23 campaign. But, for some reason, we never quite got to the bottom of that particular conundrum. And I don't think we ever will.

I do love the comment “not rock the boat for Grimmy”. He must be the only player outside of the elite in the world who MUST play. We can’t be having any competition for him now can we ?
And what, exactly, has led you to that utterly inane conclusion?

Errmm - yes, cos it would be hard NOT to be better than Maxwell. I rather think that was the patently obvious point behind the purchase. What a bizarre question to raise ...
Maxwell was nowhere near as bad as you are making out. Not much between the 2 keepers imo. Just folks LOVE jumping on the bandwagon. Grimy makes plenty of mistakes too and is average.

Have you actually read through this post as there are a couple of facts about them both that make you statement comedy gold.☝🤦‍♂️

Is it fuck you idiot. I don’t need to read bollox that is exaggerated. Max also made many a great save that may not be in the posts. I go off what I have seen. Both keepers are average at best and both have howlers. Max was the scapegoat in a side where all but two or three had crap seasons. Some players just get a free pass cos max was blamed for each loss. Let’s hope the new keeper is decent.

'Some players just get a free pass cos max was blamed for each loss.'

And why, precisely, d'ya think that might've been?

I'll tell you why. It was essentially because Flapswell was becoming culpable for such a high percentage of the goals being conceded, in games that were becoming increasingly uncomfortable to watch. Is that sufficient evidence?

Flapswell?

How old are you 9?

So nothing to do with the often calamitous defending in front of him then? Of course it all contributed as they and the midfielders also had a shit season in general French offering little protection. And max was the scapegoat. Factoblamemaxamundo!

Not French 😂…. Often.

You know he's now departed the club, and I'm sure he'd have the sense to avoid having anything to do with this site, so why are you now trying get in touch with him, and why do you want know his age? (And, by the way, I'd hazard a guess at somewhere closer to early-30s - rather than 9! FFS - he's clearly a little older than that!) How stupid can you get!? On second thoughts, Philip-Blackpool Football Club deux, don't bother answering that - I'll be heading off to bed at midnight ... So I really don't have the time.

Proper weird fucker you

Speaking to a mate that went to the game on Tuesday and he had nothing but good things to say about O'donnell. Thought he controlled the box well, was vocal, made a couple of decent save and overall was happy with him. Think he will turn out to be a decent second choice keeper for us.

Not only that, he comes across as a very decent bloke. He has spoken very well in the interviews I have seen. It's a real positive to see all the new signings doing well.

Yeah, I've seen him interacting with fans on Twitter as well and he seems a decent guy. He comes across as one of thoes guys that will pick up the team when it's lost. Very positive.

Rochdale fan at my work said to me ‘I see you have signed our Subbuteo goalkeeper, good luck with not conceding from anything on target’. So after just one game it seems he is already a better keeper than last season.
