Right then - who has the highest/lowest energy bill...

Just put in my meter readings for Nov-Feb. British Gas are charging me £700.

I suspect with the caps, most people will be on similar tariffs now and usage will dictate the final bill, but anyone else happy to share their most recent bill?

100 a month before my daughter moved back in.
About 160 a month since she moved back and works from home.
You can half that from April as daughter will be back in the office from March and the spring summer months are beckoning.
3 bed semi this is.

£120 in a four bedroom detached house. Was with Bulb, now on whatever the standard tariff is.

£700 owed on top of my DD payments already made since Nov. Used to be fastidious about switching between the cheapest providers, now I'm on the standard tarriff.

What sort of gaff you got RoT? We're in a 30's semi - 4 beds (loft conversion), 2 'kids' (16 & 20) and I'm wfh all the time, the missus does 2/3 days per week at home.

Only asking to see how your situation compares with mine as we have a similar bill.

I’m in a 3 bedroomed house and I pay £75per month that’s for our gas and electric
When I sent meter readings we dont owe them anything
I pay the same amount in the summer months when we hardly use the dryer and heating and fire so always in credit when it comes winter time
Will change when they all go up in April I’m guessing

Mid terrace townhouse (3storeys). Four kids from 11-21 which probably doesn't help but yeah they've gone up 2-3 fold. Perhaps I was too good at finding a decent tariff beforehand. Can't get loft insulation if I try and I have - the first question is 'what benefits are you on?'. I do have the Irish Sea directly blasting at the place which doesn't help

Can only compare before/after and it's doubled (at least already). More to come in April.

Yep.

When the cap is lifted is going to be even worse. At least Eunice should get the wind turbines moving...

Combined bill for gas & electric £130 per month at present with Shell energy. No smart meter, just send in the readings every month.

Mate of mine, his meter has been busted for years, can't get any sense out of his supplier so pays about £60 per year standing charge.

For those interested, the energy companies are limited by law to about six months (for domestic customers), so if they ever do work it out there's bugger all they can do about it anyway.

Most people will be outraged at what the price of energy is going to be come April, bills are going to double and in some cases treble from current fixed price !!! I’m currently paying 3.1p per kWh for gas and 17p per kWh for electric .These are going up to 7p and 28p respectively so please be aware what’s coming down the line ps the price is going to go up another 20% in October too .

Quite high usage with us as we have 5 adults and working from home.

Approx
elec 6k kWh a year
gas 21k kWh a year.

£170 a month at the moment but was playing a bit of catch up. On a fix until the end of may.

Expect to be paying around £300 when I exit the fix.

ill certainly be claiming actuals with HMRC for WFH next year.

I'm in the process of moving and the property I am looking at doesn't have gas (in the countryside) its got an oil boiler. It'll be a lot cheaper at the minute

Was paying £140 pm on a fixed tariff, but that ended last October so we're paying standard variable which is currently £195 pm
As a few have said, there's no point in signing up for a new fixed rate because most are dearer than the standard rate (well they were last November anyway). In Nov the comparison sites weren't offering any deals at all!
We're about £80 behind after they read the meters (3 bed bungalow with a granny flat for the mother in law, so quite heavy demand atm).

At least the weather should be better in April so less demand hopefully. Dreading next October though!!

Dave62 so assuming your on 4p per kWh now you could be paying £350 a month in April .
Think we'll ask the mother in law to buy a better coat 😁

I'll keep my eye on fixed rates later this year, but I'm not holding my breath for any decent deals. The old dear chips in with the bills so not so bad.

I used to pay £75 a month for my gas and electricity and was always in credit. My tariff finished in October and I now pay £125. I am already in debit as my gas alone is £130. Electricity about £40. I have my gas on roughly 4 hours a day as I am at work and the house is empty in the day, I have a modern detached house which is well insulated. I have also turned my thermostat down 2 degrees this year as it has been a warm winter.
I dread to think how the pensioners will cope with these new prices. I don’t think people have realised the size of this problem and it will be much worse in April!

They need to abolish this stupid £200 credit in October.

Putting a hold on green subsidies would be more help, at least it wouldn't impact for 5 years.

If your fixed Youl be ok for the duration but I don’t think there’s been enough news about how bad this will be,my father in law is fixed at 2.3p for gas and his gas will TREBLE !!!! Now just imagine yours trebling !!!!

£104 a month two adults house empty all day but the deal ends 1st April after that haven't a scooby what the bill will be Octopus offered fixed at over 300 but they advised to go on to a variable tariff.

If the cap IS 7p per kWh gas and 28p for electric see on your previous bills how many kwhs Youv used for the whole year and multiple by the above figures

£240 a month, I was paying £140 this time last year, Missus works from home, but it is only going to go up again, scandalous.

Diesel has just gone up to £1.57 a litre at my local BP garage, Tesco's is £1.52, all puts a strain on my business as I have 4 vehicles being used daily.

£135 a month atm. 4 bed detached. On a fixed rate until July '23 by a stroke of luck. Most of the time when choosing a fixed rate for the mortgage in years gone bye, we seemed to fix just before interest rates dropped - so nice to be on the "winning" side for once...
Fwiw, Martin Lewis (who I generally trust - apart from "his" adverts on Facebook etc 🤪 ), says it's not worth looking for a new fixed deal atm.

I don't know.

Forced to switch and have a smart meter which I can't get readings from.

we were on a split payment averaging £110 (144 and 77 ish) and sod law the last 144 went out and the Co went boobies up. EDF seem to have taken 144 as the start.

4 bed semi with undersoil heating.

£325 pcm and that's on last year's tariff that ends next month 😂
Serves you right for living in a Mansion.🤣

Don't you mean underfloor heating?😉😂

Some serious hikes there - on fixed until June, like a pillock was offered to extend by a year and ignored it

Currently dual fuel £154/month
£100 credit - going by rough estimates on here likely to go to about £250 ???

Currently with E.on @ circa £120/month. It will jump to £240ish after this March. It’s a big semi tho’, so does need some heating! Sorry I’m late. Took me all afternoon to get my data.

£700 per quarter for gas and electricity? Do you live in a mansion or leave it on 24/7?
