Rip
Same here, been following this and feel totally devastated. This was me 45 years back. RIP lads xThese stories don't usually bother me but I have been following this all day.and has really upset me. Probably because I can identify with them albeit nearly 50 years ago. A mate passing his test and jumping in his car and all off on an adventure.
Parents, Grandparents,. siblings, friends all devastated
There is a corner with a bridge just before/after it depending on which way you are travelling with a small river, if in flood would be fast and deep Lytham.RIP, just horrible, know that road well, it's just down from Beddgelert on the way to the coast, it's quite hairy, can't think of any significant water though.
Perhaps it’s also because you have a son.We are subjected to tragic stories weekly, but this one was way more affecting for me. Not exactly sure as to why. Perhaps it was the the photos of them.
Perhaps it was because it was four young pals going on a road trip adventure, which is a staple of adolescence camaraderie and bonding: and few things are better when you are a teenager than heading off on an adventure with your best pals. Many of us have done it, and can look back on it fondly.
So very sad that this adventure has ended with four young lives being tragically extinguished.
RIP.

I remember when Dunblane happened, my daughter was a little blonde thing the same age as some of the little kids who were killed and I was absolutely devastated by that one.
It is just totally tragic for these boys and their families.
Indeed. Think it's relatable to a lot of us.We all had adventures in our youth that involved driving to the destination. It makes me wonder when guilty of driving round the Lake District in a knackered old Mini whilst relatively inexperienced & probably too fast. In a way we were just lucky to have got away without anything serious happening. Unfortunately not all do for whatever reason. Terrible tragedy RIP.
Me too because Max was just 6.Perhaps it’s also because you have a son.

TerribleThe autopsies state all four of them drowned. The car left the road on a bend, toppled into a narrow but deep flooded ditch, upside down, with all doors jammed closed by the ditch walls, so no escape. Dreadful.
Unfathomable bad luck for the car to end up where it did. Poor kids. Hope it was quick for them. The autopsies state all four of them drowned. The car left the road on a bend, toppled into a narrow but deep flooded ditch, upside down, with all doors jammed closed by the ditch walls, so no escape. Dreadful.
That was pretty obvious from the moment I saw the photograph, their best bet might've been to kick out the back window, but with a boot full of camping gear that might not have been an option, the fact that four blokes in a Fiesta is pretty cramped won't have helped either. The autopsies state all four of them drowned.
