Ryan Wintle pt 3

I'd love to see him here on a permanent contract, but sadly I think it's unlikely.

Imo One of at least 3 things could happen.
  • New Cardiff manager sees it as good business to sell a player that cost nothing in order to buy players of his choice
  • New manager recalls him in January because Cardiff may still be struggling
  • Cardiff maintain the season long loan and review in May.
I'm hoping for option 1. Yet another similarity with last season whereby a rival club loans us a player because we're not seen as a serious rival to them. šŸ˜

I'd bet good money that we bring in a CM in January and I'd bet money that it won't be Wintle.

It's true that a lot of whether or not they allow his loan to run its course in January will have to do with the new manager, but even if we were to approach Cardiff to buy on a permanent I can see them wanting upwards of 3,000,000 to 4,000,000 because of how good he has played and the fact that his contract with them is a long one.

I reckon we'll go back in or Brannagan or O'Reilly again.

Agree to that AT l donā€™t think weā€™ll be hanging around waiting for Cardiff to make a decision and as heā€™s not our player so we need to buy in January (BrannaganšŸ‘), if we finish well player prices will only increase.

I'd be talking to Cardiff now before they appoint and get a deal agreed for the 2nd Jan. Keep the new manager out of it.

Are you actually serious ??? Ā£3 to Ā£4million???
They got him on a free and nobody is paying that money for him or virtually anyone right now in the Championship. Theyā€™d take circa Ā£500,000 happily. I say againā€¦ he doesnā€™t want to be there, he and his girlfriend regretted it almost as soon as they got there. Theyā€™ll sell him for a decent profit and cut their losses.

As Poolborn says, the club wonā€™t make any decision until the new manager has assessed his squad including Wintle. Weā€™ll have to wait and see Iā€™m afraid but l donā€™t think weā€™ll be hanging around and I wouldnā€™t be surprised if the Jan window targets havenā€™t already been identified and discussions started!

Well, they won't have to make a decision if nobody asks them to. I'd ask them.

We submitted a bid upwards of 1,200,000 for Brannagan, who is unproven at this level and out of contract soon.

Wintle has been brilliant so far in the Championship and absolutely has every quality necessary to becoming a class CM at this level.

Come January he might have very well fallen in love with Blackpool and want to stay, but Cardiff won't care, he's there player and has a contract until 2024, and even if Cardiff might want to cut their losses, they won't do so for cheap because we're a division rival, they will want us to pay a premium that we definitely won't be able to pay.

Do you really think given all of the variables that Cardiff asking for 3,000,000-4,000,000 is that ridiculous?

AT l agree that we shouldnā€™t sit around waiting for Cardiff to make a decision as l canā€™t see it happening hence the need to look elsewhere, but there is no way Wintle is worth Ā£3-4 million and yes itā€™s ridiculous!

they can ask for it but they certainly won't get it or anywhere near it. Don't really get how you arrived at that figure.

Yeah, we can , because heā€™s already signed for us, all be it a loan !
You can sign any player at anytime as contracts are not worth the paper they are written on, but thereā€™s always a price to pay! Thatā€™s why so many players still under contract spit their dummies out and sulk like fuck to force a transfer through!

Not outside the transfer windows !

Ryan Wintle earns praise at Blackpool

Unheralded Blackpool midfielder Ryan Wintle has earned the praise of manager Neil Critchley for his string of impressive performances in the middle of the Seasiders' midfield.

Wintle was signed as a free agent by Cardiff back in the summer transfer window, but Mick McCarthy decided to allow the player to leave on a season-long loan up at Bloomfield Road because he thought the player would struggle for game time.

That is ironic now, of course, given the midfield crisis currently staring at Cardiff ahead of the clash with Stoke this weekend.

Blackpool have shot up to 11th in the table after a rocky start to the season and Wintle has been central to that.

Some believe he has slipped a little under the radar, despite his performances in the middle of the park, but Critchley said everyone at the club has realised his importance over the last few weeks while praising his fearless nature and infectious character.

Blackpool have won six of the nine games in which Wintle has played since he moved there in September and the player himself seems to be enjoying it.

"Going into this weekend, we're outside of the play-offs on goal difference," he told the club's website.

"At the start of the season, I don't think many people would have predicted that.

"With the way we set-up as a team, it allows me to play my game comfortably and become as effective as possible.

It's an interesting situation this one. Yes Ā£3-4m is ridiculous but Cardiff owner has admitted that the club needs re-financing and may well be open to offers. Could go either way this one - they might view Ā£500k as a nice profit or they may dig in and see just how far they can push the figure up. Also given his performance levels they may well be competition for his signature.

They got him on a free, he's out of favour there with a new manager coming onboard who presumably would relish Ā£500k to get someone of his own choosing in. He seems to love it here and has a connection to Critch from their Crewe days.
I Love his last remark after Saturday's interview too by the way..."What a team" he said, clearly buzzing about the result šŸ§”
Come on, get it done šŸ§”šŸ§”

I'd love it if we were able to land him, but I'm still assuming he'll be going back until I hear different. I've every faith we could bring someone else in who can do what he does. Plus I doubt we'd splash half a million - not sure the resale value is there.

Agree, apart from the last sentence.

There is absolutely no basis for thinking Wintle would go for Ā£4m. People would do well to look at how little money has changed hands for Championship signings the last 4 windows, particularly outside the clubs with parachute payments.

Ā£4m is absolute nonsense. He'll go for sub Ā£1m or Cardiff won't let him go at all.
