San Marino v England match thread.

Anyone who thinks about taking England's qualification for granted, Italy are about to be forced into a playoff behind Switzerland, in which they could meet Portugal or Netherlands potentially.

Ah we’ve beaten the mighty San Marino 10-0, the newspapers will go wild with ecstasy over this tomorrow….. “England World Cup favourites … nothing’s gonna stop us now” 😂

10-0. We're definitely going to win the World Cup now. And probably Eurovision and It's a knockout if that ever comes back.

As poor as San Marino were, I found it quite disrespectful when we brought Trevor Brooking on for the last 20 minutes.
I thought they were going to play double cuppies at one point.

Talking about ex England International footy pundits, how come Shearer hasn’t got a quiz show host gig yet? I think we should be told.

How can you score 6 goals in the second half alone, albeit two chalked off, one with VAR, numerous bookings, a sending off and substitutions all culminating in 1 minute injury time?

One goal for his club when we're over a third through the season. Is he in a rich vein of form, and did you watch the Euros? You cant say he played well.
That's a lie, Go and check. What an absolute bunch of idiots we have as fans. Love nothing more than knocking our players.

More poor officiating saying well they've probably had enough. Need to judge each decision fairly and add time on properly.

Thats what a true professional would do.

Kane's quite clearly an excellent player. But world class? Maybe he would be if he turned up in the really big games. Champions League Final, World Cup Semi Final, Euros Final all spring to mind. I'm not putting him down as some obviously are. But he has to produce in these big games.
Champions League final was first game back after being out injured for months

Another predictable thread on here for an England game. Whatever the score last night it would have drawn criticism.

Anyone know how the WC qualifier PlayOffs work?
No cheating!

They ought to have similar pre-qualifying play offs with 12 lowest ranked sides.
3 minnows to reach qualifying rounds.

I've got a grip thanks very much. Yep, abuse. To consistently ridicule a player and question what he's achieved is abuse.
I haven't constantly ridiculed him. Just because he plays for Spurs makes you ultra sensitive.

What I have done is made mild criticism of his efforts recently, particularly in the Euros where he was coming deep and getting in the way of the midfielders. This last week, he's stayed up top, between the posts and no surprise, he's scored some goals.

There's no denying he's been out of form. Sorry, everyone else interested remotely in football knows he's been out of form, apart from you.

Mild? Calling for a player to be dropped is not mild criticism. a strikers job is to score goals and he's done that in abundance in 2021. And I wouldn't mind any Blackpool player scoring 16 goals in 16 games and say they were out of form. And neither would you and you know it. Or is it different rules to suit?

16 goals in 16 games, and 11 of them against the equivalent of Wren Rovers, but carry on.

Is it his fault who he plays against ? And there you go again, ridiculing his achievements! Oh and by the way "everyone but me"? Yeah, ok then. How about Southgate, the actual manager who picks him. Like I said, doesn't score goals you abuse him, scores goals you abuse him. Clueless.

typical Wiz, cririicises some-one who will become Englands leading scorer of all time, Currently 48 goals in 67 matches, criticises his national team, criticises his country, criticises the EPL with the massive amount of talent playing in it and criticises our great sportsmen.

Doesn't happen in any other Sport where the national team is hated and gets grief over their clubs.
Often the other way around but it's a sad world where England's achievements and one of the World's best strikers can't be applauded.

Agreed. It seems to be an English disease and Wiz just loves to criticise a player whose record for both club and country is outstanding. Like I Said if a Blackpool player scored 16 goals in 16 games he wouldn't be calling for him to be dropped, questioning the opposition and ridiculing him. He'd be rightly telling us how impressive his stats were. So there's so much hypocrisy in all Wizs comments. Yet he calls me clueless?
To be honest, I'm running rings round him on this.🤣

You're attributing statements to me I've never said. Hate? Ridicule?

Carry on.

have I said "hate"? Ridicule, yes you definitely do. So many examples. Your criticism of it being like playing Wren Rovers being one. You know full well that it's nothing like playing against a team of that standard.

So what standard do the San Marino team play at? You clearly know their level.

no it's you who has made the statement and comparison to Wren Rovers. That's your assumption, not mine. Are you trying to suggest England would only beat a team like Wren Rovers by 10 or just 5 which is what we beat them at home by? If so you are deluded. By the way, you never did get back to me on an earlier point. You stated it was only me because I like Spurs but yet when I pointed out it was the England manager too because he keeps picking Kane. I assume you must have some evidence to know that Southgate is a Spurs fan. Oh and you said Kane had only scored one goal for Spurs this season. That's not true either is it?

Premier League goals 1.

That's what I was implying and was indeed, correct. 😉
it's not what you said. Kane will become Englands greatest goalscorer soon and his ratio of goals per game is outstanding and way better than some of Englands other great goalscorers. Anyway, time to move on. As always.👍

Before I do... BBC report from the Albania game asking if it was a turning point for Kane

This was the perfect night, especially for captain Kane who has cut a disconnected and disaffected figure at Spurs ever since a proposed summer move to Manchester City failed to materialise.

Kane's mood of discontent even crossed over into England territory when he performed so poorly that he was hooked by Southgate with 14 minutes left of the last qualifier against Hungary at Wembley, even though they were seeking a winner in a game where they were held 1-1.

This was different. This was the prime Kane. Albania were the perfect punchbag or, to use another sporting metaphor, this was like an out-of-nick world-class batter being served up a few full tosses outside the leg stump down at his local club to get his eye back in.

Despite all these qualifications, Kane's hat-trick showed a player discovering the old touch and confidence.

He scored three in the first half and could have had more, a complete contrast to the player who has laboured for Spurs this season, even feeling the rough end of his own fans' tongues in the recent home loss to Manchester United which saw off manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Ridicule and abuse, some might say. Get on to the Beeb 😉

as I've said more than once form is temporary but class is permanent. And when it comes to playing for England even though you might not think he's played well he's still more often than not come with the goals. And that is the job of a striker of which Kane is up there with the worlds best. Southgate knows that!

If form is temporary and class permanent why isn't Gary Lineker getting a game 😉

At some point, a loss of form has to be taken into account, and Kane passed that point this summer. I don't think that's controversial
