Sheffield United v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 15.10.22

I posted this on a previous thread but I think it’s worth revisiting. We should be going into this game with confidence.
We have beaten Reading, won away at QPR, a draw at Burnley that should have been a win, a draw against Bristol City, unlucky to get nothing from the Norwich game, a draw at Sunderland which again could easily have been a win and last weeks great show and victory against Watford. We have nothing to fear and if we play with the same discipline, organisation, belief and effort, we can definitely get a positive result on Saturday.

I thought he was holding his groin, you thought it was his balls, let's hope it's minor 🤞
Yeah the guy next to me said he was booted in his balls and I’m sure I saw him holding his bits 😂😂😂
When watching the replay , I noticed either at the start of the game or at the start of the second half, that Madine was “adjusting himself” . Maybe he does have a reoccurrence of his groin injury.

I’ve a feeling it’ll be Lavery and Yates either side of Madine tomorrow as weirdly that offers more protection to the fullbacks than the alternatives do, given they are both out and out centre forwards.

No matter who get's selected today I am sure the Tangerine Wizards will do us proud, I'm going for Pool to win 2-1 with Wright getting one.

I'll be setting up the streaming poolside in Mallorca, with a couple of Estrallas to calm my nerves

If we don't concede in the first 30, then it could be a win. I never fancy us when we go behind early, not based on stats, just the feeling.

The other side of the attack from Yates assuming Gary goals is fit. Lavery offers work rate and some protection but he's more suited to the middle, doesn't really have Jerry's ability to hold the ball and make good passed. Theo drives forward but rarely brings other players into his moves, so I think he's easier to defend against and does no defensive work. Carey has the capability to play out there and has a good cross on him, but defensively I don't know. Similar with Wright who really puts in a shift. I'd be tempted to play Wright as the other attacker and have Carey as the other midfielder getting in and around the goal machine. Lavery and Theo as impact subs later on.

Could this be the game where Shayne steps out and changes the game out of nowhere?

Safe travels to all Seasiders

Even when we've not been scoring lately the chances were there to be taken.
Hopefully Jerry's confidence will be high after last weekend and I think the likes of Callum Wright and Patino are looking like they could contribute any time soon.
It won't be easy today but much reason for optimism after last weeks performance...so everything crossed for 3 points to kick start what could be a tumultuous week ahead.

Decent line up and shoring up the midfield with 2 CDMs, but Lavery can’t play in a 3 upfront with Gaz and Jerry so l assume Jerry is playing a wing back role like last week to protect CC 🤷‍♂️

only one loanee in the starting XI (albeit perhaps the best player on the pitch), good to see. Nice to have some quality loanees to back us up though.

When you see the bench you realise how low we are on defenders as cover, flush in midfield and out wide and short a striker or two.

I would have preferred to see Wright on for Dougall, we'll see how this midfield works. We really don't want any new injuries at the back.

I am happy with the front 3, I think Lavery may score today.

How many of our players are out of contract at the same time season long loans are returned though?
