Shrewsbury v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 02.03.24

I will be positive on this and go for a win for us.
We hammered them at home to end hoodoo. Same again at New Meadow.
At least it will keep our season alive for another week.
Definately hanging on by a thread now and barring a miracle, this will be last chance saloon.

We have a terrible record against the Shrews 😕 just one win in the last 14 matches … I do remember the last away win there though … The snow game New Year’s Day 1997 … Gary Brahmin wearing shorts on the bench 🤣

Looking forward to it for some reason
From memory the last time I was there was a 2-0 win in or around 1996
Andy preece scored one or both from memory

We hammered Stevenage at home. Away is a totally different matter with a team full of bottlers!

"Jordan Rhodes has also been absent for the Seasiders for over the last month after suffering a rib injury in a draw with Charlton Athletic, but could be in contention for the upcoming fixture at the New Meadow on Saturday afternoon.
"He’ll be close I’d say,” Critchley added.
"He’s back on the grass and doing lots of ball work. He’s been doing bits and pieces on his own, but hasn’t joined in team training yet. He feels a lot better than what he did, so we wouldn’t rule him out.”

Fingers crossed he's at least on the bench.

He’s now joined in full training so hopefully in the squad tomorrow

But wouldn't you have said exactly the same at Burton,Cheltenham and Port Vale where in total we conceded six without reply. Lets face it we are a terrible away side!
I definitely would. However, it just defies logic that we can beat Bolton, Pompey & Posh etc but lose to the teams with much weaker squads than ours. I'm not wearing the 'we play rubbish away from home voodoo'. It's more like we don't prepare well enough, don't setup correctly & don't approach the games with right attitude etc. That's down to a shared negligence by NC, the captain and the players.
They need to sort it out tomorrow and stop assuming we've won the game before we even kick a ball.

I like that and hope you’re right that it’s more down to set up, team selection than the players not being quite good enough to be a top 6 side🤷🏿‍♂️🙏

This is the first match of the season within two hour's drive that I am intentionally missing. If we had shown even an ounce of fight and positivity on Tuesday, I would have set off by now. But I have no faith in Crutch or that the players will play for Crutch. But respect to all those travelling - massive resilience on your part. Fingers crossed you get something resembling a performance - you will deserve it.

I don’t blame you, but sometimes it’s more about the day out with friends and family than the football itself. It’s a shame people are feeling like this but it is what it is at the moment.

As a fan base, we need to be refreshed, entertained. I particularly wouldn’t mind those ‘shots on target’ things I’ve heard so much about from other teams happening for us today.

Yes Gravesey, if I was younger and with a group of mates, I'd defo still be going. But I go on me own unless my lads are back from Uni. Also, I've got work to catch up on and that's eight hours lost for what? I'll sit at me laptop and have it on TTV in the background. UTMP

I 100% understand this.
