Signings..

I asked him if he was playing at P'boro. He told me he was fit and available for selection. He didn't make the squad. That along with his failure to be selected in 3 or 4 games prior to that just set me wondering after Quitch's comments that he (Josh) needed a rest.
yep, confirm that's what you posted back then. So yep, agree that Critch had a problem with Bowler. Think ir also makes me think Critch couldn't give a monkeys about the fans back then either. His team selections said it all.

Don’t get me going about team selection at Peterborough 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

I want to say around 17:00.

However, I’ve no information around it, so will have to see.
At one time we would have had a small army manning various watch points for sightings- training ground, St Annes Medical Centre, BR car park........, but now we have to resort to guessing the time and not deducing it.

It’s actually total bollocks, but there you go… No point letting the truth get in the way of a decent shoeing for the ex-manager 😂

Ehhhhh...

He went from 5k a week to 22k a week I would say that's a decent shit sandwich 🥪
Yeah you can’t argue with his massive pay increase (any agent could have managed that given his stock was high). It’s the fact he’s gone to Forest who have shown no interest in playing him. Sent him to Greece to balance the books where that club soon lost interest in him and now he’s wound up back where he started.
I’d imagine his Forest future is dependant on whether they stay in the premiership or not.

Not really

It's still a decent move for him and not unusual for clubs to loan players out

Great that Josh is coming back with a mission to save his old club. Can't blame the lad for wanting to play at a higher level, prove his doubters wrong, and boost earnings. Headband gives him a saviour look too. Hoping for news of a midfielder from the guys in the know - and what about a tough old centre back, who can play the piano?

So what is it then?
Purely guesswork on my part. Forest were interested in him in the Jan window, we know that for a fact. So they monitored his progress from at leat then. What was unknown to Forest from January right thru to May is which division they would be in this season. The Championship or the PL? They had to in their own way make preparation for both. Staying down and they could potentially lose their biggest asset in Brennan Johnson and even relegation this season and they could lose him. So forward thinking by them could have been to buy Bowler knowing that in their view he wasn't yet ready for the EPL but if they were to go down they'd have a player ready for the following season. So yep, let's buy him for a decent price and loan him out to a foreign club who had the same owners. The loan happened so quickly, I think within 24 hours, so I think it unreasonable that Bowler wasn't made aware of their plans for him and that he'd be going to Greece before he signed. Shortly after his arrival, the manger leaves and the new manger doesn't fancy him, hence no game time. That's football, shit happens.

Add into all this the question of FFP and it somehow makes sense.

Agree with that, Bowler was an insurance policy to cover Brennan Johnson who has definitely not looked out of place in the Premier League. Apart from the financial jiggery-pokery with Olympiakos they have got an asset in Bowler who they know can perform in the Championship.

Yep you are probably right.
I was just questioning Phil saying this was a good move for Bowler given he’s an insurance policy for Forest and it didn’t work out at his loan club.
If that’s a good move then what would a bad move be?

Well, if Forest stay up there is no chance he'll be playing for them next season, they will have another pot full of money and will sell some and get even more expensive players in.

If Blackpool can stay up then if I was Sadler I'd speak to Josh, say we are going to build the team around him, offer him 18 to 20 thousand a week and get him back off Forest for a knockdown price so, say we made a million on the deal, that would pay for Josh's wages for the season and a second season would still be cheaper than going out and buying a replacement for a million. He clearly loves it here so there are plenty of creative ways to make it happen, he would probably consider less if Forest were going to offload him anyway.

How would we get him back cheaper and how would we afford 20k on our crowds?

We do need to find a way to be flexible with some wages. It can create disharmony bit that's to be managed, if the players clearly quality they'll be accepted. Also wages should be private.

Not sure approx double what we pay now will be achievable though.

We would get him back cheaper and the money we made from that would pay his first seasons wages. He may take a reduction in wages, it’s not all about money, if he was on £12k a week, playing every week and happy, that’s still £600k a year, not bad.

Why would Forest let him go for less than they paid?
