Simon sacked

Ouch, really thought he would be given more time but it seems fair enough. Warnock in!

Club site:

Blackpool Football Club can confirm that Simon Grayson has today been relieved of his duties as first-team manager.

The Club would like to thank Simon for his efforts during his time back at Bloomfield Road and wish him well for the future.

A further announcement will follow in due course.

Honestly thought he’d be here for the rest of the season. Every credit to the board for acting. Onwards and upwards!

Warnock ! Really! I thought grayson was a bad decision and played boring/negative football! But warnock would be worse ! Need a young hungry manager who plays entertaining football. Before I throw a name out there need to give it some thought!

In my mind, I had decided that was it for me this season. Haven't enjoyed the football, felt that Grayson was horribly out of his depth and what had been an emotional and joyful return was being tarnished by awful tactics. Am not sure what happened in the 10 years he was away but he has had the love of football sucked out of him.

It really was the only option. Performances have been dire and getting worse. To sign 12 players and still lack balance across the squad is a disgrace.

Hmmm, understandable decision, but I would have thought he would have been given till the end of the month to bed the new players in. Just hope Simon Sadler isnt a 'knee jerk' kind of chairman

A good summary from the BBC:

Simon Grayson was unable to arrest the slide down the League One table despite January recruitment
Blackpool have sacked manager Simon Grayson after seven months in charge following a run of only one win in 12 games in all competitions.
The 50-year-old returned to Bloomfield Road in July 2019, having previously led the Tangerines to promotion into the Championship in 2007.
Their slide in form has seen them drop to 15th in League One, having been fourth in mid-December.
No details of a caretaker management team have yet been confirmed.
"The club would like to thank Simon for his efforts during his time back at Bloomfield Road and wish him well for the future," Blackpool said in their statement.
"A further announcement will follow in due course."
When Grayson was re-appointed by Blackpool for a second spell as manager, owner Simon Sadlier talked of his "track record" and previous success, and for the first part of the season his mission to guide them to promotion was on course.
Following a 1-1 draw with Sunderland on 14 December, the Seasiders had 33 points, with eight wins and just three defeats in the league.
However, the accruing of just four points from a possible 27 since then and a lack of goals from other players to complement Armand Gnanduillet, who has 18, have contributed to their decline.
They are now 13 points outside the top six, with just 15 games remaining.

Surprised me but after the influx of all those players not much has improved at all. Just wonder if anybody else can make it work with the personnel we have. We just needed an attacking midfielder, striker & we already had McDonald who must have ran over Larry’s cat or something. Be interesting how this pans out.

Warwick Davis in his Ewok costume would bring in crowds of kids.

But, the team would respond more to the erudite tones of Professor Flitwick from Harry Potter films. 😀

Very surprised. Thought they would give him until end of Feb but the players played the manager down to the job centre last night.

surely Graysons last job as number one?

Wonder if he'd have been pushed if we'd lost on Saturday? Sounds like it was next defeat and you're out!!

Good decision by the board, he was given a mandate to play attacking football and didn’t. With the relegation places down to three and with Bolton nailed on there was no excuse not to go for it.
