SOUTHGATE

I've just read that Southgate claims that Marcus Rashford has done "really well" and was a "threat" in justifying not putting Jack Grealish on the other night.

Now the jury may still be out on Jack although he has had a promising start to his England career so I'm not advocating he should have gone on, however the only thing Rashford had "done well" at recently is his campaign to stop hunger in kids, and he's as much use as a chocolate fireguard in terms as a "threat' to opposing international teams defences recently. As Roy Keane rightly pointed out Rashford was going through the motions against Belgium, he went on to actually do less than that in the Denmark game.

Southgate needs to get a grip and remember we can see what he sees and players cannot hide. Rashford's form is shocking.

He has been a very lucky manager to date and results havent been matched by performances and that will always catch up with you eventually. I have never seen England be so lucky in the draw at major competitions and I remain unconvinced by Southgate as a manager

Spot on. If that what Southgate thinks then a reporter needs to say to him that he's watched the last game back and he'd appreciate it if Southgate could specify the points in the game where Rashford was a threat? Managers shouldn't be allowed to get away with talking nonsense. Put him on the spot.

Don’t really understand the thought process from Southgate regards Grealish. Saying he needs to play against stronger opposition for longer before getting game time for England but then sticking with Phillips from Leeds just sort of contradicts what he’s saying. If there’s a problem with Grealish or you done fancy him just grow a spine and say it.
