Collective statement issued with Burton Albion FC and the EFL following malicious and offensive social media post.

What exactly was said I thought it was just the general exchange of rival fans each blaming each other’s club for the postponement

Wonder what was said? Must have been above the usual insults thrown on there every day... otherwise why this statement.

Had a quick browse and couldn't see anything out of the ordinary, for twitter.

Can't think of anything out of the ordinary for twitter.

Steve Bruce only this morning has said he’s had several messages from people on social media saying they all wished he just dies. 😳

You're not allowed to do that now just in case someone gets offended and upset.

If you disagree with something you're not allowed to raise any points, all you can do is tut a few times and shake your head, but make sure no one sees you.

Yeah there’s something inherently depressing about that tweet. Lack of guidance, lack of thought, lacking a lot for sure in all departments. Hard to say whether parenting is the core factor, but I would say it’s definitely the case that the more social media consumes our lives the less we tend to understand/appreciate/care about the weight of our actions.

It's a shame the social media companies couldn't institute some kind of simple test to ensure that you are over 18 and have more than one brain cell. That would remove the abuse problem immediately. Those posting offensive drivel are either young and stupid ... or older and thick as two short planks.

To write that you have to think it. What must he think if something serious happens. The pictures not that clear but it doesn’t look like a kid to me. If you have anger management issues you should stay away from social media

Vile abuse - yes.
Discrimination - no, because he was nasty to everyone.

Abuse like this is ridiculous, however, I’d still like to hear what the EFL have to say about both of Burton’s cancellations

The problem with social media is that it documents raw thoughts that in the cold light of day nobody ever means

Who has heard someone say ' I'll effing kill you ' ' I hope you die ' in the spur of the moment ? Most I suspect

Do they mean it literally ? Of course not and everyone forgets about it almost immediately

The tweet is vile but it's a silly kid venting his spleen Most of us have done that at some point

Ban him from Twitter / ban him from BFC if necessary but I am not sure this needs to be criminalised

a quick check of his twitter account, it isn't a kid. His twitter page is full of him abusing anyone and everyone who has a different opinion to him.

Noted Bispham - I took it from the earlier posts he was

Still not sure this should be criminalised but that doesn't take away from the fact that the content is vile and social media at it's worst

Indeed, it is vile and he clearly has history for it. Dealing with it by taking criminal action surely isn't the best option though. Not that I know how it is possible to educate someone who clearly has anger issues.

Spot on, social media is a scourge on society, and must be policed diligently.

Yep, but anything is deemed to be racist these days if you upset somebody. I'd like to see what was said before I make any judgement.

Edit: I've just seen that Twitter post.......................how many times have we said that kind of thing about various individuals? Nasty, yes, but worthy of the time that is going to be wasted on it?

This wasn’t an isolated tweet though was it, yes it’s way over the top , but there were loads of ridiculous posts on Facebook and Twitter the other night, quite frankly it was pathetic!!!
it’s not like anyone had spent over a hundred quid on travelling to get to a game only for it to be called off as I’m sure has been the case for many on here.

To be honest the baying mob on here isn't significantly dissimilar to the abuse he has posted

What have we had ? Calls for him to be locked up and to throw away the key Utter nonsense

What might be better would be for the club to ban him ( to start when we return ) but suspend that if he does some volunteering work in the BFCCT and / or become involved in anti-abuse initiatives

Make an example of him but also hopefully educate the lad that posting bile on twitter ain't clever

No

Wishing death on the entire Burton team, as well as his other vile posts wishing death on many others.

The guy is a fruit loop, he should be banned and sectioned.
