Still no points deduction for Man City??

Everton -10 reduced to -6 points
Forest -4 points
Man City ???

The club are serial offenders when it comes to breaking FFP, yet still no points have been taken? I read somewhere they might take -6 off them at the beginning on next season. But what does that achieve. Take points off them now, knock them down a few places & perhaps it might make things a bit fairer for the other sides. It’s all good penalising the sides at the foot of the table. The same should be done for the sides at the top.

Money talks.

Said yesterday on sky it could be late next year before Man City are dealt with. Bloody ridiculous

Amazingly, I just read that they have one of the smallest squads in the premier league, although of course the cost/value probably is more than most.

I have no idea about their finances, but they have spent millions in the local community.

Spending millions in the community is a classic sports washing tactic. Trying to deflect attention away from such things as human rights violations by showing the ‘caring’ side helping the community
They’ve actually stopped stockpiling players since they got caught cooking the books

No punishment for owners who take all the money and let club fall apart. Don’t City’s alleged misdemeanours go back beyond Pep so will be complicated. No sympathy for Bury. Last time I went we got hammered and their fans were chanting Oyston’s name.

Are there other English examples of this community sports washing then

One of the main issues in this case, as far as I know, is the sheer weight of evidence being submitted. I'm sure this is in no way an attempt to bury the investigation team.

So I wouldn't expect a decision any time soon, personally. Especially if the Bill published today gets an expedited passage through Parliament (there is every chance it will).

That's just matchday, thoughtless banter though. We should be able to separate that from the real harm being done by self-centred owners.

City's rule breaking was before they brought in this rule change. They've announced it will be dealt with next year. I don't get why people think they've got off. They can't be charged under the new rule as they haven't broken any since it came out

Seems farcical that Everton and Forest get instantly pinged and docked points yet City who have many more charges against them are left alone and unpunished so far.

An explanation from the PL is the bare minimum not only Everton and Forest fans deserve, but so does the rest of the wider football community.

Who told you that? Let me guess, a City fan by any chance?

It’s totally different, or not as straightforward to the others. City hid money in sponsorship deals etc, so it’s all new to the FA and needs a lot more to prove it was done intentionally to get around FFP. Where the others are a simple A - B scenario. City is more like A(DEHYU)¥= [XRFT ] =AB

Notice their fans are whinging about season ticket prices going up by 5% .. ironic when they get to see the best in the world they now complain about it. Still see City as a small town club who got lucky with a billionaire!

Doubt the FA could afford the legal fees.
Anyhow, what happened to Barnsley's points deduction?

In Scotland, Glasgow Rangers were relegated to the bottom Division a few years ago. I doubt if the Police would permit City to visit L2 grounds. The PL might relegate them to the Championship along with points deduction at the start of next season of about 12 points. That might test them.

Anyone seen the list of charges City are accused of?
You can Google it, but it includes :

  • multiple breaches of EPL financial regulations
  • multiple breaches of UEFA financial regulations
  • failure to disclose information, particularly around remuneration of employees
  • failure to cooperate with investigations

I think the last one is the key ; around a third of the charges are in this category and depending upon who you talk to what they are alleged to have done ranges from merely being difficult, all the way to actively concealing information. As such, the case is far, far more serious than those of Forest and Everton.

I think with the Everton case is they didn't contest the original charge and admitted the breach which is why the deduction was given so quickly? They then appealed the 10 points as they saw it as harsh, which it was to be fair

City are contesting all of theirs
