Summer transfer rumours deux, the 'Appy edition.

I don't see how he's an upgrade on what the club already have.
Full international at 22, Barnsley's stand out player last season, controls the ball well and is an attacking minded central midfielder , low centre of gravity can shift about the pitch, major upgrade on Stewart and probably Virtue. Played over 140 games already at Lg1 & Champ level, there's a lot to like.

With Casey gone that leaves our squad with 24/25 available players (since Carey is u21 and doesn't count).

I'd expect Tharme to be loaned out as well with probably Bez gone too which will put us at 22/25.

I'd probably guess we're looking to bring in a CB on loan, CAM on a permanent, and a winger on loan. If Bowler goes, I can see us bringing in a permanent replacement for him too.

Give me Rudoni, Scully, Rogers (loan), and Branthwaite (loan) and I'll be absolutely chuffed with that Summer business.

No way, as if Casey's gone!

I wonder if this opens up the way for another player to come in?
That's certainly the reason, we have a massive squad which is a double edged sword, because we have depth almost everywhere, but some of that depth isn't going to help push us forward, I think if he offload 2-3 more players and bring in 3-4 quality players we'll really see a big improvement.

Carey is 21

Like KP in 2011/12
God, that would be nice. Don't think there's anyone who comes close out there. Those Phillips/Barry Ferguson signings basically were the "premier league legacy" as it turns out, they were both a treat to watch at times though.

Think ultimately we will be going with Yates or Lavery with a PL loan in addition. I'd go with Yates over Lavery at the start just cause it would be amazing if Jerry could do it and by do it I just mean score 15+ goals.

The Athletic reported that Everton had been contacted by 40 clubs about taking Simms on loan.
I would have him back tomorrow, he’s better than anyone we’ve got. Obviously untested in the Championship but strikers who know where the right position is, can get there and finish are born not made and he can do all three. Built like a brick shithouse takes a lot of knocking off the ball, just what we need.

We have approached Dale Stephens agent regarding him, according to someone close to DS.

However, Blackburn have also enquired.

There was an Aston Martin SUV typical flash footballers car in Morrisons car park at Squires gate at lunchtime, the initials MK on the number plate. Often have seen players there in the past, buying food, etc.

Surely we’re looking at Brannagan or at least until he signs for someone else and finally puts the rumours to bed?

Pretty sure that’s the shortlist from my latest Football Manager save. Or maybe yours.

We'll probably end up with Jeremy Corbeanu, put him in a Harness and send him to Coventry.

This closed season is starring to get to me now, and I'm not over the pandemic yet.

I can understand us having to wait for Premiership loans, because we are at the loaning clubs beck and call, but if we do have money to spend, and it is looking increasingly unlikely, why are we taking so long about it? The quicker players arrive, the quicker they are integrated into the team!

He's just said it's been a frustrating week or so, we're in for 3 or 4 players and hopes one to be in before Sunday, when they go to Scotland.
Oh and Gabriel will miss the start of the season, along with Stewart and Beesley.

The club has 26 players under contract, arrivals need to be matched with departures, the club has loaned out 2 this week which frees up a bit of space, but the Bowler situation is going to have an effect as well.

You don't necessarily have to wait for departures before getting players in, because that is how you miss out on targets. Other clubs move in whilst we dither. We will just have to do as we did last season and leave players we haven't moved on out of the 25. Just as we did last season with Nuttall and 3 others!

Completely depends on budget doesn’t it?

No good signing a few players on decent wages with the aim of moving some others on and then ultimately find out you can’t shift them. End up with a pretty hefty wage bill for players who aren’t even in the squad.

Nutall, Sarkic and Howe have gone, Lubala doesn't quite fall into the same category.

The reality is that the club doesn't want to spend £200,000 or so on wages for a player who isn't in the 25, so signing another player without moving someone on first is a risk, doubly so when it's not clear how much is coming in from player sales.

But we did it last season and our budget this seasonis greater!

The club must be aware that the 'Feel good factor' is affected by these delays, none of us know why we have been
unable to complete deals so far. A signing before they go to Scotland would be a boost for us. Their could be a
number of trialists invited to Scotland next week. Lets hope progress is being made !
