Summer Transfer Rumours trois - Will Appy (re)sign anyone?

"Manager Grant McCann said his Peterborough United side targeted Sheffield Wednesday's left flank after Reece James was shown his marching orders at the Weston Homes Stadium. Blackpool loanee James, utilised at left centre back by Darren Moore, endured a first league start to forget as he was sent off in the 34th minute following a late challenge on Joe Ward."

Well if new players were needed yesterday, it is critical Mr Mansford pulls his finger out this week. Hopefully both Patino and Fiorini will be fine in a few weeks but it leaves awfully short in the meantime.

Left centre back? What the actual fuck 🤣🤣🤣

See Jordan Clarke Harris is still at Peterborough. Looked class against us last year. Worth a bid or out of our price range?
Spoke to him after the game at their place last game of the season. I said he'd look good in Tangerine. He laughed and said thanks but no thanks

Nice fella but seems not keen on the seaside

There was no EU legislation preventing the rollout going exactly the same way it did. Any EU member state can pass emergency legislation regarding medicines/vaccines in the event of a crisis.
But I don’t understand, Boris seemed to suggest it was due to brexit we could do that. You’re not suggesting he was… fibbing are you? 🤥

Transfer wise, I’ll be shocked if we don’t sign 2-3 this week. RB, striker if we can find one for realistic money who adds something to the squad (think bishop is looking like a missed opportunity sadly) and clearly we’re hunting CM’s.

IF we could get Grabban on a free that would be a great piece of business. We’re crying out for a striker of that type and whilst I’d prefer a younger player with perhaps a little more pace, Grabban would be good for a season or two whilst we find or develop that player for the long term in house perhaps.

We clearly need someone in central midfield. Ideally someone who can take set pieces as our delivery from free kicks and corner's has been terrible. I do wonder if we should have gone for Conor Hourihane on a free. Would be interesting to know who these free agents are that Appleton has been speaking to.

Hourihane went to Derby on ridiculous money.

Wonder what the wages are. Being on a free means that clubs can give higher wages though. We clearly have some money to spend hence the bids going in for around a million. Ideally we could find someone a bit younger though who has some resale value.

Most free agents demand a signing-on fee also.

We did very well last summer out of doing that. Probably going to get a lot of money from Bowler. Not so much this summer yet.
Yep, agreed, think the first thing I think of when I heard that we were in talks with some "free agents", I thought of older, 30 year old players, but in reality those free agents we are talking to could very well be Premier League academy players who have been released.

Or the could be estate agents that do no sale no fee. 👍

Let's hope so! The likes of Bowler and Grimshaw a year on are worth a lot of money while also being good players for the club right now. Essentially by recruiting good young players and selling them on for a lot, with this money then being reinvested is how the club can be successful long term.
