Summer Transfer Rumours trois - Will Appy (re)sign anyone?

Let's hope so! The likes of Bowler and Grimshaw a year on are worth a lot of money while also being good players for the club right now. Essentially by recruiting good young players and selling them on for a lot, with this money then being reinvested is how the club can be successful long term.

Yep, agreed, think the first thing I think of when I heard that we were in talks with some "free agents", I thought of older, 30 year old players, but in reality those free agents we are talking to could very well be Premier League academy players who have been released.

Not that many of them about this year, and the ones that are good enough already have a club.

I think we may be looking at Elijah Dixon-Bonner
No harm in looking but he doesn't appear to have any senior football experience of note. It's strange that he hasn't been on loan to a EFL club, he had a trial at Portsmouth last summer but was not offered a contract.

Nottingham Forest striker Lyle Taylor, who is down the pecking order at the City Ground, is free to leave before the transfer window closes. #nffc

West Brom in talks to sign free agent striker Lewis Grabban. Turned down a move to Rotherham last week. A proven goalscorer in the Championship and would be a good addition

@TheFLZone

Aston Villa will consider letting Cameron Archer leave on loan if they get another attacker this month. Who needs a goalscorer still?

No way can we welcome Archer, as he knocked Grimmy out when playing for the Nobbers (2nd reason not to sign him) the dirty midlands tosser

You'd think the club would have 2-3 players lined up who we otherwise might not have initially been able to afford but now can because of the Bowler sale?

Connor Ronan would be a signing that fills a need, fits the player profile we need, and would certainly get fans excited.

Was given a chance to impress at Wolves, but they have since brought in a new CM and not given him any looks this year.

He would be the type of player I'd hope the club look for if/when Bowler goes this week.

Hope so, quality player……..not Josh Bowler admittedly, but still a decent replacement with big potential.According to Alan Nixon we want 4 million plus rxtras for Bowler

And it's all gone quiet over there... with our signings but I expect it to heat up soon.

Just very slow isn't it.

A big week coming up and we have to land some targets.

Did he have any of these supposed problems at Barnsley/Leeds/Maccabi?
He didn't have these issues last summer when we were behind the others due to going up via the play offs. Maybe our budget is tighter? Or maybe we are trying for a better level of player? Whatever it is, we need to find a solution and quickly.

It can’t be our budget we’re bid £1m for 3 different players now, I think we’re just trying to maximise our money on some top players - who are their respective teams top man (a bit like Bowler for us). It’s not easy to prize these players away from their clubs

We will stay up no doubt and I now believe in the Appleton way after not being so sure about his appointment. Really surprised though that, we are leaving it so late to recruit, we need a CM asap and before Saturday IMO. Another winger / mobile forward (x 2 if Bowler leaves) and not much else to survive. We have the depth at the back (and can use Emergency Loans if needed) CM we have some depth but not the quality and up front we have the talent. C'mon Pool management, lets back Appleton and finish in the top ten (measured progress).

I have no doubt they are working hard, I just question our early season targets. Fortunately we've had a relatively decent start and with a winnable game this weekend could be on 9 points with the window to close.

We need a better central midfielder that can break up play but has the ability to link Fiorini/Carey/Patino up with the ball. The way Appleton has set us up this season has looked far better in transition from defence to attack. The board need to now back him with the right players.

We're a small club. We should be feeding off scraps and making them better and selling them on. Big money transfers is not our forte. We should be looking at free agents, league 2 and none league. League 1 at a push but players like Kenny, who are actually decent but hardly got a look in/were undervalued by their current clubs. Bidding £1m for league 1 teams best players is not gonna work in the current market. It hasn't worked.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I honestly thought we'd have brought someone in early this week, who would have had time to integrate and go straight into the team for Saturday.
I should have known better.

The way I see it, the kind of deals the club is working on are always going to go down to the wire, the selling clubs are going to try to hold out for the maximum price, maybe try and get other clubs interested, and only when the deadline approaches will they have to decide if they're willing to take what's offered, and maybe the buying club finds the extra £100,000 or so to make it happen.

The out of contract players are in a similar position, they're trying to hold out for an extra £1,000 - £2,000 p/w, maybe an offer from a "better" club, but then they don't want to risk seeing the offer disappear if the club recruits from elsewhere.

If we're going to sell Josh for North of 4 million and we got a couple of million for Quitchley we should be landing 2 or 3 1 million pound plus players AND looking for players as you say, not just the one. I hate this "little Blackpool" thing, we're a Championship club, we need to be able to act like one.

Somethings not right with the recruitment for buying players, not loans. I just don't have any faith in Bullshit Ben at all.

But we are still little blackpool? That's not going to change overnight. Or in 1 or 2 seasons of success. If we're failing in big bids for players then where are their cheaper alternatives?? 1, 2, 3, or 4 players down that list???
