Summer Transfer Rumours trois - Will Appy (re)sign anyone?

It’s Thursday, we have a game on Saturday and then again on Wednesday, then it’s deadline day on the Thursday. Something has to happen soon and I don’t mean selling Josh.

Disappointed doesn't cover it.

Is there an experienced footballer hire shop on the Fylde coast then?
Not that I'm aware of , but I'm sure the Out of Contract shop has someone who would accept the minimum wage to help us out in the short term. Who knows it may even lead to bigger and better terms.

No idea but he’s not doing much here is he?
Apart from promotion, planning for a training ground and east stand, professionalising the setup to a level no one could’ve imagined three years ago.

For me the Appleton appointment is on his head and ultimately he’ll be judged by that.

Presumably as a football expert you’ll be able to provide a full list of suggested replacements if the egomaniacs and school bullies get the scalp?

Wait and see

If we're going to sell Josh for North of 4 million and we got a couple of million for Quitchley we should be landing 2 or 3 1 million pound plus players AND looking for players as you say, not just the one. I hate this "little Blackpool" thing, we're a Championship club, we need to be able to act like one.

Somethings not right with the recruitment for buying players, not loans. I just don't have any faith in Bullshit Ben at all.
So which of our loans or transfers in do you think are poor decisions?

That sounds awfully Karlesque
Richo is correct though. Teams have to decide whether to cash in on players who might be out of contract next season, who want to leave, or players they were willing to let leave but we're hoping for bigger offers than they got and then all of a sudden become willing to accept lower terms. Teams also have to register their 25 man squads, and those who they don't register will become available.

Teams register their 25 after the window closes. Only players out of contract can move after that.

I said I am happy with the loan signings and the one player we have signed properly, but we have had weeks now, we knew we were going to lose Bowler, we have lost targets to league 1 clubs or they have failed a medical so one signing in all that time is not enough so we keep hearing "this week, this week, this weeks" well we're down to the last few days now and still nothing. we have faffed around but why have we?

For every club it’s all one big game of chess, trying to get players at the best price, or waiting for what clubs see as the right player to come available - it’s all like a domino effect. Rather than just sign any old Tom, Dick or Harry as we have done in the past we are now very specific on what we want and can afford, particularly in this league. Patience will be key I think - we could very well have an extremely busy final day of the window.

So in essence the 5 signings we have made have been good. The outgoings were fringe players or wanted to relocate, and there is still 1 week to go.
Does not sound catastrophic to me, but injuries and suspensions have hammered us again.

Like last summer’s window when we had a busy final day and ended up with Dale, who couldn’t play for several weeks because of injury and is no longer with us?

I think this window will be very different - the January window is notorious for being difficult to deal in. This final week/day will see a lot out and 3 or even possibly 4 in.

You're such a panic merchant!'

Bowler hasn't gone yet for starters. He might not, it's not inevitable. And we will only replace him if he goes. And we didn't need a big squad rebuild this time. The 5 we have brought in have all influenced the first XI positively.

We dont keep hearing this week this week this week. I think you're hearing things!

And there's a week to go. Other clubs are finding the market tricky too. I dont want us to bring in players we regret signing, just for the sake of silencing the wobblers for a bit. We need midfield cover with all the injuries but that's a recent thing with the 2 lads getting injured. Nothing else is absolutely vital.

Tighten your bamboo pants and get a firm grip of the hand rail. Could be a roller coaster week. 😆

I'm enjoying myself!!

I hope Bowler does stay, but as much as I want him to it looks like he will go. The loans have been excellent and Thommo is great, but let's see how it goes next week. Up to then I'm going to keep throwing in a few Googles (not from my bamboo pants) as it's fun 🙃

I think a lot on here are going to be disappointed when this window closes. It is mirroring the January window, which was also a big let down.
It amazes me that Bowler still has a chance to move. The club should have put a deadline on his moving, to ensure that we are not caught short if we receive a late acceptable bid.
At the end of the day it is obvious there is not sufficient funds to enable us to secure deals!

Teams should know going into deadline day though who will and who won't make their 25, because you'd think they'd try ship out the players who won't be making it and who they don't want eating their wage budget up

I think the players we have brought in (via Mansford) are excellent additions. I think Dom Thompson is a real find. Williams looks solid. Really happy with Patino and Fiorini and Corbeanu looks a decent prospect. So five good players (yes four on loan) They are all an upgrade on what we had. If Mansford keeps bringing in players of this quality I'll be very happy.

All decent players but you can't keep rebuilding a squad every season when all your loanees go back.

Although the loan signings have impacted the first team. I would like to see at least a couple of lads come in permanently before the window closes.

Lots happening but it’s a tough window.Blackburn also struggling to recruit because like us, they have a prized asset to sell to get other deals done. Everything will look much better in 7 days time.

A lot of people will be very upset with our Summer window if we don't bring in 1-2 more quality bodies in before next Thursday (and I will be a bit upset too), but I think the club is in a very difficult position with this window.

The market is incredibly inflated and good players (like FDB and Barlaser) are being incredibly overvalued by their parent clubs.

The club want to make sure that we're bringing in the right players at the right price and not just bringing players in for the sake of bringing them in. Quality players to bring us up the table are incredibly difficult to secure.

Which is why we've had to bring in players on loan (because frankly we can't afford to pay for the quality we've brought in).

It's our second year in the Championship and we are still trying to establish our reputation while also transitioning to a completely new style of play. What we are trying to do is very difficult and will take a lot of time.

The early progress from MA has been very positive and we nee to trust that the club are doing everything that they can to build the team the right way (which I think they are).

We all need to hold our nerve over the next few days.

The reality is that we’ve got money to spend but it’s one of those where you’ve got to do that wisely, you’ve always got to think in the best interests of the football club and protect the football club at all times," Appleton said.
