The game where every Blackpool fan was there .. or so they say!!
The previous time we'd been there, they beat us with a controversial goal. After the game, we were. Pelted with stones and coins and one idiot was intent on forcing our mini bus off the M4. We were a little apprehensive when we left the ground after that result, but were given a standing ovation all the way to the Motorway. Strange people the Welsh. Some of us flew down. Remember the ovation the Swansea fans gave us after the game as we left the groun!
nice. Could be a thread on it's own about where were you when you missed big Blackpool games. I was in Florida and wouldn't go on Rock n Roller coaster until I knew final score in our 1-0 Charlie Adam win at Deepdale. Another is that was in our villa in Florida watching for results in our opening day PL win at Wigan on some Ameircan sports channel. They kept coming up every half hour or so apart from ours until it eventually did. Cue crazy celebrations. And at not so good one is in a bar opposite the Empire State Building watching the game when the nobbers got that last minute winner against us in that cup match.I was in Florida. Walked into a bar and the barman was wearing a Villa shirt. I asked him if he knew any scores. He asked which team i supported and when i said Blackpool he told me we were 6-3 up at Swansea! Really thought he was taking the piss until he put sky sports video printer on his laptop. Happy days.
Well, at least you were in a bar outside the Empire State Building. I watched that game v the Nobbers as the only person in a bar in Dartmouth, Devon. And the landlord still insisted on leaving music on so I watched without commentary - which in retrospect was a good thing.nice. .
I seem to recall a win there when TP was caretaker and on loan DJ Campbell grabbed the winner, in an effort to get a contract with the sizzling Seasiders and cement a permanent deal. Cant remember whether he was at Brentford or Leicester at the timeThe second half of that season was by far the most dominant a Blackpool team has been in my lifetime.
I'm starting to think it was all the work of TP mind.
Last day of the season in that terrible black Carbrini kit, he was at Leicester and told the Gazette he didn't want to go back.I seem to recall a win there when TP was caretaker and on loan DJ Campbell grabbed the winner, in an effort to get a contract with the sizzling Seasiders and cement a permanent deal. now if only you had one of those yellow Bass away shirts you would reach uber fan status...I was at Swansea for the 6-3 (and the 4-4 at the Vetch) AND at Barnet!!!
Yes, Bristol City had to slip up but they didn't. Swansea had to go for it because they needed to win by three goal and hope that Oldham lost (which they did), but this left Swansea well open to attack from the best team in the league by then. It didn't help that their keeper insisted on defending his goal from the front of the six yard box. There'd been a slim chance of automatic promotion that day - was it Bristol City who had to slip up?
Any disappointment on missing out was completely eclipsed by that "wow" performance and the belief that only an exceptional team would stop us winning the playoffs.
Right club, right time I think. A very intelligent player both with his head and feet and was an invaluable member of the promotion winning squad.I always thought Andy Morrell was one of the best signings we’ve ever made - Valerie Belekon money brought him in from
Absolute workhorse, and a goal scoring bonanza all the time he was with us. A touch of the Bob Hatton’s about him - right player for a moving forward Club - shame Mr S Grayson didn’t think so ! Top bloke too
I saw him score away at Yeovil and thought this guys really good - Keigan Parker somehow fitted in well with him and they both scored a lot of go als in League 1
See the 2006/07 highlights dvd to understand what Grayson thought of him. Or, if you prefer, rewrite history.I always thought Andy Morrell was one of the best signings we’ve ever made - Valerie Belekon money brought him in from

well it's about time you bought your old mate a . Will be in the talked about venue just after 5.A damn good thread, sew I thought I'd join it...
Sew near but sew far, but what a great game and day that was, truly amazing to win 6-3 away in the last game of the season, especially so being that it was in another country!
Me and my son (who's now pushing 34) have enjoyed taking the piss (obviously in a nice way) out of an old schoolmate of mine ever since (not that we didn't do before).
Th'old bugger (mi mate not me) never rated Andy Morrell as a goalscorer 'coz he'd (mi old mate always emphasising) never scored more than one goal in a game for us.
In fact, I'm pretty sure that we were chatting about it in a boozer somewhere in Port Talbot on the way to Swansea.
For Andy to then score four, nobbut a few hours later, was truly manna from heaven!
So forget Harry Kane mi old mate 'coz although Andy Morrell usually only scored one (at the absolute max) in a game, some of us knew that he was capable of scoring more'ell fire we got to Wembley with a Tangerine Assembly, but he didn't score anymore!
But Joe Hart to Andy Morrell (wow what a strike) was one of the greatest goals I've ever seen!
Hope mi old mate still posts on here, he used to be as regular as clockwork, I'm only here for an hour and I've been typing for 40 minutes already, FFS only 20 to go!
