tangerine tv

We are a small club in terms of getting media attention, with a dying local newspaper that is read by the elderly and a local radio station with falling viewers. Is the club missing a real marketing opportunity by making the content subscription? I am assuming that the content is on a subscription basis for foreign viewers as well. The club is using
tangerine tv as a cash-cow like club-call was in the 80s for a few dedicated fans wanting information on the club.

I don't know what the current subscriptions are but I am guessing it will be a couple of thousand per month, it definitely will not be in the millions such as Man United or Liverpool that have the benefit of receiving unlimited
marketing courtesy of SKY TV, BBC, BT, etc to create demand for online content.

As we have plenty of characters in the team now, such as Yates, Gabriel, Madine, Dougall, Husband, Keshi, etc the club is missing a real opportunity in keeping content of them on a subscription basis. Surely making the content free would be a very powerful marketing tool that would help grow the brand/club not only on a local basis but more importantly on an international level.

They definitely need to keep plugging away and find more ways to reach people.

I think the ttv content is worth it as compare to PNE whove been in the division ages and ours looks way more professional content.

We do put a fair bit of it on YouTube etc, maybe not as much obviously or later then ttv, but they do use the free YouTube and fb etc to give enough to get people hooked and excited.

People who aren't fans or part time can still watch the good bits they show on those platforms.

I'd love it to be free but can't have everything free and want top quality production. In this case it's still free just not as much content and tbf fans were looking to attract will only want the best bits initially, probably aren't jumping in watching full length interviews with people.

Awful O/P we don't have a local radio station anymore but where getting a new one but if you have a simple FM radio you won't get it and the local Gazette is read online and is only 5.99 a month great value ,TTV 1.99.

There's probably also a reading of the room....

This was put out, as at the time before the Burnley game was a bit of unrest with some on the fanbase, with Appleton etc (wrong of course)

But after this game I feel a lot more were brought on side, on what we're trying to do and play and a lot of the negativity and moaning died down after this.

The club probably would have put most of this out anyway, maybe all of it,as they usually put best bits out, just not all as that would undermine ttv.

But either way this was a chance to sell that great comeback and a real energy shift it felt like and they did just that.

You expect the club to pay a media team to do all the media work and give it out for free ? I think ttv is about £2 a month literally Surley to god if you’re arsed about blackpool fc you’re not bothered about that amount.

It isn't about the fee, it is about an opportunity to grow the club from its current fanbase. Everyone is looking at tangerine tv as a big cash cow,
which I don't think ever will be unless we get a sustained period in the premier league. But I think it is an opportunity to market the club at a really low cost for a global audience, which will also help get younger locals interested in the club. Maybe 1.99 isn't a big fee but it is if you are 8 years old and starting to take an interest in football for the first time.

I think most 8 year olds can just ask their parents to subscribe for them. They’ll be just fine. Again we don’t need to market the club to a global audience. I think you might be overthinking this.

We don’t need to grow the ‘brand’ internationally though. Why would we??? We’re not a brand in any case . TTV is a great service for the fans, produced properly by a good media team. It should be paid for and not given away free.
Of course, we are a brand, we have a clear brand identity with our team colours , logo, and name. Every club is a brand, and that is why Man united values itself at 3.75 billion, even players are brands such as Beckham, Messi etc.

It is about attracting every potential 8-year-old, not just those that are rich enough or whose parents support Blackpool FC already that are willing to pay for a subscription especially as we are facing a global recession with people cutting their Netflix subscriptions.

We need to grow the audience and grow the revenue so that we can afford the better players that will improve the team and hopefully get us promoted to the premier league. To compete we have to be national and international with our audience.

TTV has about 3 interviews a week and the preview show, plus the highlights packages and full 90 replays. I pay the 2 quid for the 90 replays.

The sofa stuff and and training videos seem to have dried up. New signings all read out the same couple of paragraphs.

I like the match reaction videos. They could be longer i think. Or have separate interviews with players after games, it's good to get players' views on the game.

But I think there's limited opportunity for output that is genuinely interesting to a wider audience. How would it attract a wider audience?
