The best VPN ?

I use Nord. It has very good reviews. I use it to watch tv from various countries in Europe.Got it for 12 months on a half price deal for £50. Usually a strong reliable connection from European countries though of course buffering can occur with any VPN.
 
I've got Nord. It worked in the past but yet to see what will happen this season. There were stories with ifollow of registration issues, place of residence, use of overseas bank account etc even if you are using a VPN. It might be worth seeing how others get on with Tangerine TV before investing in one.
 
I've used PIA (private internet access) for a good few years, very reliable costs thirty odd quid for a year and allows about ten simultaneous device connections

What's the benefit of using it on ifollow etc?
 
Use Opera browser, has built in VPN, select your country.

But if you're going to buy a VPN to get round the rules for viewing in different countries, you might as well get IPTV. You're watching it illegally either way.
 
With a VPN overlayed IP address, presumably one dials up Ttv, and takes the match feed, or is it not as simple as that ?

Not quite sure if ifollow worked pre-covid if you used your UK login details but then logged in from an overseas IP. A friend of mine created an overseas account, with an overseas address but still used a UK bank account and he got access.
When I signed up to Tangerine TV all it wanted was a name and e-mail.

With a VPN you still pay for a match pass at overseas rates.
 
This is going way over my head chaps. I know what VPN stands for but beyond that what is the mechanism, what does it do, who fits it and for what price?

Virtual private networks are used by companies to protect the data of employees accessing the company network when working remotely, stops people sniffing the data packets and gaining confidential information, can also be used to make it look like you are in a different country for online media.

In the "old days" (pre-covid), if you were outside the UK you could often watch games on iFollow, even on a saturday. I used to watch away games down south (which I couldn't then attend due to having young kids) on iFollow. I'm hoping this year to get to a few, by bribing the family with a weekend away, but where that's not possible, I'd love to still watch them on pay TV.
 
Let's simplify this.
Some matches are available legitimately to stream in the UK, and some are not.
A VPN is a service that hides your location, making it appear that you're somewhere else. So you can therefore watch streams that you aren't legally allowed to watch in the UK. So using a VPN for this purpose is as unlawful as watching an illegal stream on IPTV.
There's an argument that if you pay for the stream on ifollow/TangerineTV or wherever it's available and then use a VPN to access it, at least the club get some revenue. But it's still illegal.

Not quite. Using a pirate stream is illegal (although the chances of getting prosecuted are very low), use of a VPN to watch area restricted content is not; it's usually against terms of service of the provider, but it's certainly not illegal.

Morally, it's the same thing. You're still watching something you're not entitled to.

I make no comment on the morals, I'm just helping clarify the facts. Personally (and only personally!), I can make my own peace with paying to watch a game I was never going to attend in person (which is the reason why football streaming is area restricted), but that's just me, I'm not suggesting it's right or wrong. :)
