But in hindsight, probably one of the best results for the club's future

To answer the o/p
We're the play off kings, but the best way has to be automatically because po's give us less time to prepare for the next season
Not knowing what division you're going to be playing in until the end of May = less prep and sometimes a poor start

Walsall.
Lincoln.
York

We were promoted on the Friday night after Hereford (I think) failed to win. We then played Torquay on the Saturday.

Youv got to say if it wasn’t for the play offs we would probably have never got promoted and would be languishing in the bottom division before finally going non league to never be seen again .Obv worst case scenario but possible?

Thank God for the playoffs , yeah , never seen us promoted automatically. Was at the game at York in 96 where Oxford put to bed any chance of auto early if I recall. Good day out though, miss York in the league a little.

Was always play offs because the penny pinchers policies meant signing half a squad every season, so the usually spent the first 10 games learning each other’s names.

Some good managers over the years then made the best of the bad situation by a siege mentality of “we’re all in this mess together”. Love a playoff final personally though
