The Blackpool game you never want to re-live?

The 1951 Cup Final, first trip to Wembley having been told by my dad that we would win, such a disappointment for an eleven year old, particularly having listened to the previous final against ManU when we lost having been ahead at one point.
Following your team has highs and lows, the 51 final was an early baptism of the latter.

In terms of what hurt the most in recent memory:
The 1 - 0 loss at Deepdale in the League Cup, and they all pitch invaded. What happened then was insane, inside the ground and then outside of it, especially crazy considering it was 2013 and not the 80s.

In terms of it being the most boring game of football I've ever seen:
0 - 0 away to Nottingham Forest in 2012, don't think either side ever looked like scoring. Polar opposite of the last time we played them there in the play-off second leg.

PNE 3-1 loss at home. That made me ill. Didn’t leave my bed room for a week afterwards

Torquay at Wembley. Those penalties in the middle of the night - horror show.

Torquay ffs
Not so sure about this one. Yes, the result was a shocker but the game itself and the occasion were great. First time at Wembley since 53 and the thought this might be a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Mighty at Wembley. Who knew what the next couple of decades would bring...

Bradford game all day long.

We were a good team and should have got automatic anyhow.

Additionally, 3 days earlier we had battered them at their place. That away game was one one of favourite away days. The performance was tremendous so no idea what happened in the space of a few days.

Bradford at home without doubt! Complete horror show and which stupid misguided manager provides directions to Wembley in the match programme!

Yep, Bradford for me too. That was it, nothing else to come, no more games to put it right. Walked round in a daze for a good while after.

Blackburn was soul destroying but there were plenty of games after to try and get the results we needed.

For me it was the Sherpa Van Northern Final again Bolton, I was absolutely gutted after that, never did I think we would have another chance to get to Wembley in my lifetime. Little did I know.

The Bradford game in 1996 still rankles..... though still haunted by one of the 0-5 York City hammering in the mid 1990’s - the Boxing Day one where it should have been double figures at least. Paul Barnes / Jon McCarthy were unplayable that day. Still surprised Neil Whitworth managed to have any football career after that day.....

Huddersfield away in 1968.
Although we won and invaded the pitch to celebrate promotion back to the top flight, news filtered through of a late winner for QPR. An own goal at that at Villa Park and the narrowest goal difference. Gutted!

Like Whitstable the 2-0 defeat by Newcastle in the 1951 Cup Final, which was the first game I ever saw on TV, at a neighbour`s house at the age of 5.The scars remain.
