The East.

What's the point in having half of it closed? It's never used. We have a thousand seats which we never sell ffs!
The cost involved in operating it are prohibitive. There’s maybe 4/5 times it justifies being in use this season - each time would require more stewards, catering, toilets, police and ultimately maintenance too. Each time would also result in a much much higher risk of trouble - which ultimately results in a much much higher risk of the club getting more fines having to take action against our in house imbeciles and then getting criticised by our own fans for having to call out those same imbeciles.

It’s no longer worth it.

And that’s before you take into account safety certificates, the relationship with council and police, the suitability of the stand itself - which could require maintenance which costs a fair whack - and then of course any impact on home advantage etc.

Opening it maybe brings in an extra 250,000 over the entire season - after associated costs the clubs maybe looking at 100,000.

Given our recent history the next fine could potentially eat that up.

A lot of hassle for less money than we’ll make if we beat Forest Green / Scarborough on the 19th

The plan is for a new stand holding 4600. Does that figure maximise the space available, or just replaces the current capacity ?

The North end of the stand has no toilets or concessions as the previous poster said. They put portacabins and a burger van in there for the Prem season and maybe a couple of seasons after but ultimately it's not fit for purpose.
Wrong it has portaloo's and outdoor bottle bar which is also the current smoking area.
Last couple of seasons the smoking area is then moved when East is given to away's after trouble against Blackburn to outside gate 3/4 and they get toilets and bar.

The club could do they same this season but if they can afford like yesterday to throw up to 50k in the bin for whatever reason so be it.

It's not 50k though is it once you've taken into account all the cost of the extra maintenance, extra staffing, extra security and extra policing

That doesn't even include the bar take which will more than cover servers and security in that extra.
Police I don't know how that works but anyway when you add it all up with any minuses it surely has to be well over 40k lost yesterday?

When the eventual new stand opens, I hope away fans start off in the north part of the East stand to build the atmosphere.

Facing the sleepy south stand it’s hard to get the banter and noise levels up.

The police won’t be in the slightest bit interested in getting the atmosphere, banter and noise levels up. They will insist the away supporters are housed as far away as possible from the north stand .

Fuck 'em.

Every other ground you go to in the country has the singing section next to the away fans. If they don't put 'em there when the new East is built I reckon the North Stand'ers should just relocate to the South.

There is the odd nobhead in every stand in the country.
Totally agree but those knobheads don't continually throw stuff on the pitch, at opposition players or opposition fans do they?
The Northampton player that opened the scoring last Tuesday, even though he was a bell end and goaded the fans had stuff lobbed at him!!
There's nothing better at a football match than the interaction between fans and the opposition being right next to the North would ramp it up another level.
It's a shame, like you say, the 'odd' fan is spoiling it for many others in the North ☹️

BRISTOL ROVERS have a tidy looking stand going up. Saw it on the footy highlights not long back. And they don t have a pot to p//ss in.

When I watched the derby fans jumping up and down in it a couple seasons ago I feared they’d fall through it I’ve sat in it once at the homecoming game against Southend it’s not brilliant and needs sorting asap

The one thing that you can guarantee 100% is that is if was financially viable to open up sections of the east for either home or away fans, the club would do it. They have opened up some sections of the north end of it for away fans last season. They will know all the figures, all the costs involved, all the potential revenues, and all the potential extra costs, including fines or other penalties for misbehaviour.
You can discuss it all you like on here, but at the end of the day, we don't know all the figures, revenues and costs, but the club do, and if it made commercial sense to open additional sections, they would.

He can bore wherever he wants but that is precisely why away fans won't get housed next to the North when the east is completed.
The truth hurts eh!!
How do you know that?
You don't so stop making stuff up.

The reason away fans are next to the South has fuck all to do with fans it's because there's proper toilets and concession facilities for that stand.

Further to my O/P, are there plans to build on the NE corner ?
Doesn't seem so from what we've seen and heard... or not heard so far.

But still no actual proper east plan released.

But on the wider area plans it just showed an East and the corner has never been mentioned.

We will all find out when the detailed planning application is submitted. It was scheduled to be submitted in spring of this year but evidently the club are delaying for whatever reason.

The reason the away fans are at that end is that the home fans in the north can't behave themselves and act like chavvy children.
That's bollocks. They housed away fans in the South side of the East almost immediately after the boycott, when it was established our signing section was gonna be the North again. No incidents at that point.

After the Prem when our singing section moved to the South, they moved the away fans to the North part of the East and left the south part empty. No incidents then.

It's convenience for the police. There are much worse behaved fanbases that have their singing section next to the away fans. They should do their job what they're paid to do, like at every other ground.

The reason away fans are in the southern end of the east is primarily due to facilities. When the east was built, there were temporary facilities in both corners. Then the South East was built, and designed with facilities underneath for the southern half of the East. The club are not allowed to charge away fans the same price as home fans for inferior facilities, so to maximise revenue in the east, away fans need to be in the southern half of it.
The mixing of fans at the north east corner is a bit of a myth. Away fans used the north half of the east during the premier league season with no incidents. However, we to have a more vocal element who now use the north, so that will be taken into consideration, purely because a minority of said fans have done themselves no favours over the past three seasons.

Ask the club when the east is complete where they are considering to house the away fans.
It won't be next to the North, facilities or not.
Don't get upset about it, we know the reason 😉👍🏻

Hopefully going forward, like a lot of clubs are doing, it’ll be built with rail seating. The north is crying out for rail seating since everyone is stood anyway it’s more dangerous not to

Next season will be Mr Sadler's 6th as owner. Still no start date for construction of a NE stand or East stand.

We should build an all standing terrace, kippax style, home fans could go in there and put away fans in the north or south, it would up the capacity and solve the problems we currently have.
I tend to agree!

In most of my 50 odd year supporting the Pool the Kop / north stand was never the “home end” it is only the last 10 years or so and we had a couple of years boycotting in that time.

Build a big East terrace with rail seating and put away fans in east of north.
The north has the worst concourses and they can easily segregate

And?

It's clearly linked to a bigger regeneration plan with the Council driving the timeline. It's not as though we sell out every week.
Exactly. Although regeneration is happening all over the town, take the blinkers off. You will have belief in the new training ground soon.

I would make the East safe standing and move the singers into it for several reasons.

1. The noise for whichever end we are kicking as it has been mentioned by players how horrible it was for them when the whole East was full of away fans.

2. Larger more purposeful bar and food outlets and even build a better club shop and ticket office there which is accessible like the old one was (change the current one back to a bar)

3. Giving two blocks of the north sorts the away support entrance and egress out and makes things easier for everyone including the fuckwits at Lancs Constabulary.

And oif we get to the Prem, the inevitable need to install seating.

I presume Sadler has decided it's in his and/or the football club's best interest to do the East with the regeneration plans. I'd guess that will make it cheaper and easier (è.g) the CPOs.

With that they will be the constraints of the Council process. There is regeneration happening but all of it will have been years in the design, approval, funding and contracting stages. It doesn't happen overnight. The other areas were in the development stages before Revoe.

I'd like to see it start but won't panic nor use it to have a go at Sadler. I trust it will happen at the right time and cost. If he is saving money by piggybacking the regeneration plans then that's less money diverted from the playing side.

I'm happy to be patient.

The East will be full of "home" fans when Blackpool play any of the following clubs in FA Cup..Man Utd/ Man City and Liverpool.

How about all the
Bore off.
Keep throwing you're stuff.....it's soooo grown up.

They didn't.
They were only housed in the south section of the East.
In 2012-13 when the south east was opened, we had season tickets in the south east, and used the facilities under it along with home fans in the south half of the east. On one occasion our seats were blocked by tv cameras and we were told to sit in the east. Away fans were in the north side of the east.
And here is a video from April 2012, with Leeds fans in the north section of the East. https://fb.watch/oTtgnF8NwS/

For all the pros, cons, reasons stated in the above thread one thing is is clear to me:

The new East Stand MUST move with the times and be rail seating!!!

Wherever, the away fans may be housed, the atmosphere will be “electric”.

Personally, from an ease of policing perspective, I would house the away fans in the North East Corner assuming one is in the plans and a quarter of the new east rail seating to away fans (with new commercially match day concessions you would expect to come with a new stand)
Any season tickets sold in the second section of rail seating from the “away quarter” will be with the proviso that they will be moved at the clubs discretion to the new East Rail Seating nearest the South East quarter to sell larger allocations to Away followings.
No ST’s will be sold for the new east rail seating section nearest the South East Corner it will be available on an individual match day basis.

The media and new disabled section will remain at the centre of the New Rail Seating East Stand.

Also no ST’s will be sold for the the half of A Block next to the North East Corner (assuming there is one) so a bigger netted off area can be provided for extra segregation as an option, for more “highly charged” matches.

And finally, any fucker standing up all game (excluding jumping up with excitement) will be ejected from the ground by stewards unless they are in the new “Rail Seating” East Stand.

I believe my proposal suits all interest of fan atmosphere, club’s commercial interests and ease of policing.

Ashley🧡

You said Premier league which away fans where in the South.
2011/12(Championship) season they then moved away fans to the North East as the Family section was put in the South East corner and the padded seats on the half way line in that section where used by the Rowleys corporate crowd.

2014/15 when crowds where on the decline it was swapped again with away's back in SE.

The North end of the stand has no toilets or concessions as the previous poster said. They put portacabins and a burger van in there for the Prem season and maybe a couple of seasons after but ultimately it's not fit for purpose.
Wonder why they took the portacabins out? Surely the rental would have been covered certainly in the Championship by ticket sales for that section.
