The Experienced Free Agent

Been hearing about this imminent signing; the experienced pro that we are certain to sign very soon. Any ideas who?

Lewis Grabban?

Maybe one other, or none at all. Who knows as yet

Lewis Grabban was linked previously but went for the Saudi money instead which is fair enough

The free agent rumours have been circulating since the last day of the transfer window, and still nothing conclusive. How complicated can a free agent deal be? Methinks the free agents are still hedging their bets, and if they don't want to play for us then wave bye bye to them now before they become a liability within the squad.

Michael Appleton confirms Danny Drinkwater is one of "three or four" experienced free agents that Blackpool are currently looking at. He's hopeful of one coming in on trial next week.

I really hope that one is a big centre half. If big Marv is injured I dread to think where that leaves us, especially with Williams looking shaky in his last few games!

Interesting how we're being cautious about who we choose as our experienced free agent.

Must be demanding bigger contracts than we usually offer?
They are free agents for a reason = they weren't wanted elsewhere. Offer a short-term deal within our wage structure or tell them thanks but no thanks. If they need a trial, offer them a pay per play deal until they become more established (if that happens). We need to stop messing around.

If we have enough money to invest in some free agents, Michael Hector, Danny Drinkwater & a striker would be my ideal.

Makes me laugh Appleton. Never tell him any secrets!

We've got a reserve team now so at least they can use that to have a look at players if there's any games happening. Not ideal but it's what happens when you scattergun last year of contract lads and can't get it done in the window.
