The January transfer window rumours thread.

Think we can certainly save some cash sending Dale back.
Unless Critch sees a player that’s improving in training, I don’t feel he’s an upgrade on Demi or CJ who both look to be unable to progress at Championship level (I’ll give CJ the benefit of my doubt as he’s not had a lot of game time)

Kesh and Bowler are still our best wide options to date (despite Josh being up and down)

I wonder if James or Garbs can go left midfield and Keshi goes right side (two footed that he is)?

James looks pretty decent going forwards to me. Links up well and can cross a ball. And scored 6 or 7 goals for Donc last season.

Agreed Voy. Put Hubby behind him and give it a go? Bowler off the bench against tired legs or CJ

I'd probably start Bowler on the right and move Keshi inside. He's our most inventive player and not far off our best finisher too.

More speculation.

I'm not sure it's speculation even. It's three suggestions made by someone on the internet of players we could go for. Pretty random suggestions I think. I appreciate you are just posting up what's out there. 👍 Just don't want people to think that this means Blackpool are trying to sign these players.

Don't forget we have Garbutt to come back, he can play left wing or left back, although our system would have him as right wing, which just wouldn't suit him in my opinion.

the story uses 'should' and 'could' indicating to me it's a pure potential options garb.

I don’t see any of these as a viable option, as they don’t fit in to our current way of thinking , i.e young and hungry.

In the BBC's Championship half term report, Ian Chisnell says:

"There have been injuries to key players and goals have been in short supply, which is an area that will be addressed in January when there will be a concerted effort to bring Ellis Simms back from Everton for a second loan spell."

Toby Esterhase on loan from Russian club KGB Moskva. Tricky player who likes to switch wings during the game.

Another bit of pure speculation from Football League World, if you can navigate through the ads.

You think Arsenal will let us have another if we send TJJ back? I don't

Why not?! Ballard did great here. Critch is well respected and they will take on board his comments. He gave TJJ a good number of games. We are a safe pair of hands and Arsenal know that.

Alan Nixon in response to a "Any news on Blackpool" tweet.

"Boss a bit downbeat on signing chances yesterday … hard window to get good loans in … Premier squads stretched … not in mood for favours."

Is Leighton Clarkson any good?
Returned to Liverpool from Rovers as could not get gametime
England U20 midfielder.
Obviously Critch knows him and we are very short in attacking midfielders

Just can't see us making a new striker more of a priority than a CM, our troubles in front of goal have had less to do with strikers and more to do with a lack of creativity from the center of the park, a player that can link up play from CM like Brannagan must surely be the top priority.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Brannagan here. Could potentially see Thornley going to Oxford in part exchange. The only doubt might be Oxford's league ambitions given they are in the play off places.

Elliot Watt, 21 yr old Bradford City midfielder who grew up in Preston. Story originates from the Daily Record.

This is an interesting one. Played against us for Wolves U23 a couple of years ago and looked really good, so it was a bit of a surprise when he dropped down to L2. Chizzy was raving about him. Then Brett realised half-way through the second half that he knew him.

Feels too left field to be made up.

"But Critchley is open to all types of transfer when it comes to deals in January: "We’re looking at all possible avenues. If we think a player will improve us and that’s a free transfer or maybe a little bit of a fee or a loan then we’ll do it."

Free, bit of a fee, loan.

Probably rules out buying Brannagan! Which I'd be surprised about if it happened tbh, doubt he'll move in January.

McKinstry? Heard any more about him?
Done a bit of digging and found this....

"McKinstry is capable of not only playing out on the flanks but also through the middle as an attacking midfielder.

Speaking of his qualities, Phil Hay (Leeds writer for the Athletic) once commented: “He’s a very confident ball carrier, he’s physically strong, good upper body strength, excellent feet, good at beating his man and creative. In his head, he probably feels he can play in other positions up front as well.”

Blackpool are interested in Bradford City midfielder Elliot Watt, according to the Daily Record

Blackpool are believed to be keeping tabs on the League Two man alongside Premier League strugglers Norwich City.
