The January transfer window rumours thread.

Can’t imagine us accepting anything less that £2,000,000 for Bowler and a decent sell on percentage. Talent, time on his side. If reinvested properly which we will do it maybe a half decent bit of business.

Should really be looking to get him onto a longer contract, only a 1 + 1 at the moment.

A half decent bit of business would getting him to sign a new contract!
We cannot afford to lose any of our top players, we need to strengthen our squad and not have money in the bank that we probably cannot spend in January anyway.
A couple of loans from Premier League clubs would help

I’d obviously rather he didn’t go and he is the one player that gets people on their feet. He’s very exiting, quick and unpredictable. The amount of times the opposition have 2/3 players on him when he’s on the ball must give us so much space elsewhere. IMO I don’t think he will go anywhere as I doubt the offer will be what we’re after and like and the club do appear to attempt to tie down the better prospects to lengthy contracts

Keshi gets me on my feet.

I think you've got to bear in mind how much staying in this division is worth to the club. I suspect it's at least £5m, so it doesn't even make financial sense for us to sell any of our best players mid season.

You also have to ask why so many top end championship clubs appear interested in our players, considering we have a "squad full of average league one players" according to the nobbers. Perhaps one of them can try and explain that?

I know it’s not the Pool but Bournemouth are getting Hill from the Cods. Don’t know fee but think it’ll be a couple of mill.

Nixon himself said it was £100k on twitter, I think the article has misquoted him.
What worries me is Critch's lack of confidence in playing Bowler every game and can't help but feel some of these stories and figures being banded about could well be something to do with Bowler's agent as the player himself wants away?

Honestly think if Forest were to bid 1.5 Million plus a hefty sell-on fee, it wouldn't be the worst business to accept if Josh wants the move himself.

If Bowler goes its all profit which could be reinvested in the club and it isn t certain
that his game will improve if he were to go to Forest. If the offer were increased to
2 million I would take it.

Turns out Beesley is the son of former Blackpool defender Paul … on of the direst of Nigel Worthless’s has-been signings… but he’s scored a few for Rochdale

Agreed. Gone are the days when a 'bigger club' only has to click its fingers for one of our better players and we say ' where do we sign'. I don't think we'll sell as he fits Sadler's criteria for a Blackpool 'type' of player so well. HOWEVER, if he goes we can be damn sure that 1. The price will be right for us. 2. A replacement(s) will have been lined up beforehand, and 3. Critchley will be fully involved with a view towards squad improvement.

And the latest on Beesley. Rochdale fan Insiderson knows reckons he's improving but not Championship ready yet.

Feels a touch hopeful this to me, a bit of a Bez signing. And we were L1 when we signed Bez. If we sign Beesley is that the end of our Simms interest? I guess our money is needed in midfield.

It'll be interesting to see how Beesley develops if he signs.

I think Dom Telford's recent form is better and as a free agent in summer would be cheap. However Beesley gives the extra height we need in both boxes.

About 5% of the male population would give us the extra height we need in both boxes. 🤠

True but the lack of height has cost us how many goals this season? Agree they need to be good players as well. Telford is probably too like Lavery and Yates to be a realistic target

I shouldn't judge at this stage, need to see how it pans out. He just doesn't look 'oven ready' and he may or may not grow into the player we need. He doesn't look particularly quick or strong. Looks like a raw young lad but is 25. Is he the best lower league option? We'll just just have to see and trust the Critchmonster. And the process. 👍

I'm the same, not really convinced this is the striker we need, but they will have been watching him so what do I know. I think I would be happier with the big lad from Notts County if we are going to pick off players down the leagues.

If we could nail Branagan and/or Fuchs I would me more happy.

Rodrigues at Notts Co looks pretty good. But it's not smart to judge too much off a few videos! Beesley seems like a good guy, good attitude, decent all round game, without any stand out features. Not quick or strong or aggressive or technically brilliant. Just all round ok. Could look different in the flesh.

I think maybe the frustration of improving loan signings which gives us no long term benefit, may be behind this.
Probably wrong though

I agree, we just seem to want the odd really good loan, rather than loans to fill places, like we used to do. It's about getting our own players, young and on long term contracts, which is a sensible approach in a club that want to progress and grow.

I think you need a mixed squad that has development players alongside some experience, some in their prime, and some loans that give you some extra quality or plug gaps.

But it makes more sense to develop our youngsters than other clubs youngsters unless the other clubs' youngsters improve the team. Sadler is probably wondering why we are developing TTJ when he doesn't improve our first team. Justifiably.

What we don't need is more players like Lubala and Nuttall who are with us for years and contribute nothing, though.

Jake Beesley was left out of Rochdale's squad today and their manager has confirmed they have accepted a bid for him

Aaron Morley is believed to be the other player who's had a fee agreed. Bolton, Barnsley and Hull have been after him but I wonder if we have snaffled him perhaps? 21 year old midfielder, rated, I think we need him more than Beesley.

Also discussion of this on the Rochdale forum.

"Just hope it’s not an undisclosed fee because he’s gone for £150k!

"Alan Nixon answered a question of the fee being 300k - 400k with ‘it’s around that range’.

"I really like Beesley but I hope if he does go to Blackpool that their fans remember how far he's come in such a short space of time and have a bit of patience with him."

"Clearly they’re signing him to make an impression on their first team. Whether he is capable of that level is another matter entirely.

"I am normally very realistic about valuations, but we would be selling a contracted player who is at his peak. Nothing less than 400k for him is fair.

Looking at Beesleys stats I'd be very concerned that we are paying for form. Really dislike bringing players in when they appear to be at the top of their game. This one would be a pass for me, would rather bring the Oxford lad in to bolster midfield.
