The Official Rishi Sunak Speech Thread

My Mrs has always defended the UK as still a force to be reckoned with on the world stage despite me telling her otherwise but was astonished to see Sunaks wife come on first and went on to say it’s just not right having these people in charge of Britain. She’s right, what the fuck is going on, the country is a laughing stock and there isn’t even a remotely rational alternative.

I have no idea what the answer is other than just leave the gaff, which I did!
Nice to see you seen the light at last Tory boy!🤣👍

Good point about promising the world Mac. That's exactly what Keir Flipflopper has been doing. I could say I'd like to see him when he has the grown up job instead of being forever a shadow, but I don't want to see the country led by someone so ill equipped.

Well you better get used to it as he will be yours and mine Prime Minister.

Where does the money come from? If you can't see that the Tories have cut local funding by hundreds of millions then you're not looking hard enough.
And if you can't see that councils waste millions then you aren't looking hard enough either. There's fault on both sides, nationally and locally.

I'm not saying they don't. But their funding is much reduced along with their ability to make decisions.

We've also lost EU funding, which built most of Blackpool Prom, but that's another story

Perhaps their funding wouldn't have been reduced if they hadn't wasted so much.
I've seen it first hand and it's criminal.
Perhaps if they'd got their house in order and become more efficient, there wouldn't be a problem with
their finances
You can't keep giving endless amounts of money to organisations who squander so much of it.
Yes there is fault on the national government level, I think we can both agree on that.
But it's far from one way.

He will wipe the floor with Sir Starmer, lets hope Labour find a new leader. In plenty of time.
Yep pretty much, the tories must love the fact labours recent leadership is so weak…corbyn, starmer are just awful party leaders, you wouldn’t trust and leave them a key to feed your cat if went on holiday, never mind run a country…🤷‍♂️

Rishi Sunak has a net approval rating of -45. I don't think they are in much of a position to be happy about anything. Starmer doesnt have much charisma but I find the idea the jumpy, irritable Sunak will 'wipe the floor with him' quite fanciful. He's a desperately poor interviewer and I think we will get a repeat of the Maybot campaign, with a touch more arrogance when he gets a bit annoyed at questions. Not sure Starmer will be much better as a campaigner but when you are 18 points ahead in the polls you don't need to be.

He is very brittle.
It's kind of 'you are too stupid to understand' arrogance, rather than the born to rule arrogance of Johnson and Cameron.
I am sure he will come unstuck in the election campaign, it will probably be a bit like Gordon Brown in 2010

You're going to get the same thing from Sunday - there's already disquiet amongst about 25% of Labour as KS isn't Jeremy Corbyn.

There's plenty annoyed that he changes his mind to suit the opinion polls.

And there's leadership challenges bubbling away - Lisa Nandy was demoted as part of it - and don't think Angela Rayner has given up yet - she demanded Levelling Up to keep her head down.

Rishi Sunak needed to be PM when LT ruined the country - he might have been able to build on his popularity of chancellor when he threw money at Covid but I don't think anyone in the Conservative Party could have turned that around to win the next election.

Ugly business politics.

I'm sick of charisma. The charismatic ones have made an absolute bollocks of it.

I want someone serious who's in it for the country and not themselves

Honestly can’t see that happening anytime soon.... from either side of the house.
Partisan politics dished out by today’s... wannabe celeb politicians ....who are courted by an opinionated media... has polarised us all .... and led to social media ruled life...fcuk it I’m off for drink!
