The 'offside' goal

Was it? Need a better angle really but looks close. Definitely not off with the first ball, it's just this part.

If he has drifted off he had no excuse to to and didn't need to.

My initial reaction from A block was off-side.

I immediately looked to the lino, as did plenty around me, hence muted celebrations.

Probably was offside and tbf to the linesman he sort of looked apologetic about it.
he would do. He was the lino when we played QPR at home last season when he disallowed Dougalls goal because he thought Madine had touched the ball over the line.

right in line with it. Yep, clearly offside
Can only be slightly, you can faintly ser the lines on the pitch, looks within a foot.

Either way, if he was Yates really shouldn't have been. He had the beating of the defenders and was on the move when they switched off, stay onside and we win that game. A good striker really shouldn't be caught out when clearly looking across at the last man.

It's close, there's a faint pitch line with the different shades of rectangular grass which runs across the penalty spot aprox, parallel to the 18yard line, you can just about make it out on the other side. Their defender and the ball are beyond it and so is Yates.

This is far closer than people have made out. I wonder if there's any footage from the west side. All irrelevant but interesting nonetheless.

This is the closest I can get to when Connolly wins the header. It's a tight decision but I'd probably say Jerry's right foot is offside.

This is just so people can see the pitch line clearly, Husband is literally on it, just on the darker side. Their player beyond it and he goes further beyond as it progresses.

The point the ball is played.
Pitch line still visible behind CJ, their player maybe 2 foot beyond at his furthest point. Yates is about the same on the other picture.

Very close call. Linesman has probably guessed because of the speed it happened. Looks too close to call.

Wouldn't have even gone to VAR. he was off and wouldn't have put the ball in the net unless he was offside.
Why wouldn't it? If he was off it was very marginal, I doubt a linesmen who couldn't see that our goal against qpr already being over the line, could suddenly see Jerry's toe.

He was offside by a distance. imo looking at the playbacks.

I’m surprised so many think it was clearly offside
When you pause the video in the OP he looks to be at least level but on the other angle it does look offside
But certainly not as clear it as some have said

don't know where you sit Tigger but those sitting in line with it, it was pretty clear and have said so. Those sitting at the other end of the ground or even in the north can try and make a case for it all they want but it was clear. And whereas I'm not a fan of this particular lino he called it right.

When you are sat in line with it and say he is offside even before the Lino raised his flag then as I was and did shout , It was Offside.

It's not clear at all, not like he's miles off, it might have seemed it when seen live, as happens in these situations when the striker and ball is travelling fast, before we know it he's beyond their back line in the blink of an eye.

But the evidence is right here on the thread, it's very close.

whether you think it's close or not all those who were sat in line are telling you he was offside and it was very clear that he was.

It's not about what I think, the evidence is clear. Seeing something for a split second is all you get in the west or any stand. This is as close to VAR as we get and on analysis its very close.

It's only very clear as people have seen Yates beyond moments after the ball is played. The reality is it's very close.

Here's an approximation. The line is about right given the pitch lines give or take, his foot is off. No way people in the west are spotting that. Its hard to see in real time. The speed of the play is why people though it was clearly off when it wasn't.

i sit on the half way line so didn’t have a great live view i was offering an opinion based on highlights and photos

I’m not saying it wasn’t offside but that it’s closer than some have suggested

Unfortunately Jerry seems to get caught offside more than most - shame as he had no real reason to even make it a marginal call in the above situation. Offside or not - we aren't getting much luck and seem to get every decision against us - none of this is helping the mood at Bloomfield.
