The sneering BBC

Haha I’m wondering how you feel when your found to be on the wrong side of the argument permanently these days. Brexit, election night, Corbyn, the list of loses just keeps piling up.
I never thought Corbyn was the right man to take forward the Labour party, but carry on. Speaking of which, you cry whenever someone mentions Donald. Can you stop mentioning Corbyn? Even more of an irrelevance.

Cry, not really wiz. I only brought him up as we were on the subject of losers, and he’s the biggest of the lot, of which a lot of you on here had him down as the man to guide us through to a socialist utopia. Look how that turned out.

His sitting on the Brexit fence lost both votes, IMO.

Anyway, his socialist vision of guaranteed wages even when not working, nationalised railways and free school meals all year round were always doomed to fail....oh. Look how that turned out indeed.

I've said it many times, but the fact that the BBC gets it in the neck from both ends of the political spectrum tells me that it is broadly where I would like it to be. We only tend to hear from the frothy right wingers on here when the subject comes up ; but Twitter is awash with people from the other wing of politics who think Laura Kuessenberg is a Tory sleeper and the Beeb an apologist for Tory misrule. I'd say both are full of shit, personally.

It's a bit like the patriotism v nationalism debate, isn't it? You can be critical of the BBC, and acknowledge the failings that it has (and it has a number), but at the same time acknowledge that it stands for something quite extraordinary. I'm very proud of the fact that there are huge swathes of the world who appreciate it as being a beacon of truth and objectivity that they feel they can rely upon. It makes the lack of appreciation for it at home all the more shameful, really. But we aren't very self-aware these days - are we?
Broadly agree with that but I do think some presenters are beginning to allow their own views to seep through which I don’t believe is good . Impartiality must be adhered to.

Of course, he was such a visionary he saw the pandemic coming over the hill.

Opinions, using the fact that a concensus was reached against means little and these things tend to be cyclical anyway.

Are you now resigned to your OP being inflammatory nonsense in the context of the clip shown?

If the BBC is fairly balanced then show me the centre right/right wing journalists/presenters/writers/producers etc number versus the centre left/left presenters etc number....should be roughly 50/50 ish eh?..........anyone seriously think that? If it isn’t then why isn’t it?

it’s a bit like those who believe in Diversity the most ....then show me the Tories then in your Sociology/Arts/Media etc Courses. Show me all the Women who want to work on Building Sites to express their truth

it’s a bit like those who are absolutely totally 1,000% proud of their country and can’t wait to tell everyone all the time...how many aren’t ** crackers?*

its all Tribes and we go where life is most comfortable and we all want things our way, all the time and these days anyone who disagrees with what you think is a Wanker

Pretty sad but that’s where we are

* I am proud of my Country and the Union btw

Yes but I am proud of my country and I also think that waving a flag is a futile, child-like gesture that is likely to antagonise other people. These two views are not incompatible. You seem to think that if you are not a nationalist you cannot be proud of your country and this is clearly not true. I dislike nationalism of all types whether it be Mussolini, Hitler, Sturgeon, Trump, Erdogan or Johnson. It is always a bad thing in my opinion because the 'pride' of your own country quickly morphs into a dislike and sometimes hatred of other countries and cultures. One of the great things about the UK that I am proud of is that we have never gone in for this sort of extremism, until now that is.
So waving a Union flag in our own country on special occasions antagonises you. My poor heart bleeds.

That's the problem these days, people get all worked up and precious (possibly red faced, veins bulging, I won't say all gammony as it upsets a few) over a photo or short clip that hasn't got any context barring the sentence by the person who's posted it, heavily laced with their agenda.
I thought it was those people on here getting worked up over the sight of a person with the Union flag in the background. Some-one describing it as a rag. Why shouldn't that description be challenged. Many people took flags to Wembley inc YS. Bet Wiz wouldn't like it being described as a rag.

How do you know what the politics of individual employees is? I know I don't. And if they have anything about them they leave their politics at the front door when they come into work. I think the BBC has a risk-averse culture that ties it up in knots at times. But that is usually because it is striving FOR balance, not the opposite.

The issue isn't bias. It's perception of bias. And your perception has no more value than mine, and vice versa.

It's probably worse these days as social media means people end up in their own bubbles of friends, pages and content they like, algorithms then show them the same things they like, so they think that the world should be as they see it. Things are very polarised with people not seeing the grey in between.

i think if you look, you'll see I've made no comment regarding the BBC. My posts have centred around comments re flags and pride in our country. Yet you choose to criticise me rather than the lefties on here who post pictures of Nazis and Recidivist with his ISIS flag waving photo.Perhaps you find that acceptable but choose to remain quiet rather than pick them up on it. Your choice of course.

Who the fuck would know that Blood? Nick Robinson is a Tory if that helps?

No one is stopping Conservative voters from joining any of the organisations you mention, maybe they're just not very creative?

Tory politicians treat you less than the dirt on the bottom of their shoe.. but as long as they stand in front of a union flag you forgive.

Robbie, I don't know why you keep bringing up Laura K as an example of political neutrality...very poor.

Losses btw. Oh, and being on the right side of an argument is invigorating, even if you're in a minority of 1.

Not at all, life’s a competition isn’t it. Brexit was a vote, the highest vote won, the lowest lost, Election night, one party won, the other lost, corbyn, well we will just leave that one there. I find it strange that you don’t see it as winning and losing, what would you call it ?
Actually there was only one winner and his first name is Rupert...he decides.

It seems to me that everything you voted for meant the average bloke in the street (like you and me) lost and will keep loosing for a very, very, long time.

You sound like Vikki Pollard.

Yep it's a bit like two knights sword fighting one dies instantly the other bleeding to death slowly whilst claiming victory.

Can that chip on your two shoulders get any bigger. How sad that you go through life feeling as if you've been short changed.

So your resigning with a whimper, no surprise.

Your perception is that the issue isn’t bias you mean surely?

You’re very angry for a Stoner mate, sounds like you’ve been on the amphetamines. Let’s not fall out because you are a funny bloke tbf who can make me laugh and the fact we completely disagree on politics shouldn’t stop you enjoying my superb comic postings

Why is that post perceived as angry?

Billy Bragg loves England and is quite vocal about it . I’m just trying to work out is he left or right 🤣
He’s looking for a New England mate.....so he can’t like the present one very much can he?

”I‘ll never forget the first day I met her,
that September morning was clear and fresh,
the way that she spoke and laughed at my jokes
and the way she rubbed herself against the edge of my desk....”

I like Billy Bragg...very talented, very committed....the fact we would disagree on a lot of things is immaterial

He’s a lefty ** but i love his songs . I think it’s called incongruous but I only went to a Grammar School.
I’m just a poor boy from a poor family..
