Brilliant, you must of used all your acumen for that oneTo an 11 year old it wouldn't?
I find it alarming that you criticise those who defend the waving of the Union flag and who show pride in their country, yet you have nothing to say about the poster who posts a picture of the Isis flag for the sole intention of trying to antagonise people. Is that a case of you being tolerant when it suits your argument to be so..Why do I somehow think that you believe the left are the guardians of the high moral ground when it's all based on double standards.Does she post on here (see below)?
Love the flag or ‘move to another country’, Conservative MP says
‘If people are not proud to be British, or of our flag or Queen, they don’t have to live in the UK’www.independent.co.uk
It is slightly alarming that an elected MP feels free to say this sort of thing. And what does 'love the flag' even mean? I am proud of our long history in the UK of the freedom of thought and expression and this includes the right for people to say things that other people don't agree with. I'd say that the sort of sentiments she is expressing are not truly British values, they actually belong in other more repressive, authoritarian countries. For me, at least this sort of thing is a worrying trend.
I’m not too alarmed to be honest. It’s one way for an obscure MP, no one has ever heard of, to raise her profile I suppose.Does she post on here (see below)?

Yes as an isolated incident it is trivial.I’m not too alarmed to be honest. It’s one way for an obscure MP, no one has ever heard of, to raise her profile I suppose.
Although I agree that people who express this sort of sentiment often turn out to be nasty individuals in real life as well.
Well I’m afraid we’re going to have to get used to more of it, what with GB TV on the horizon and a government with a vested interest in stoking up the Culture Wars. It’s a very effective way of diverting attention away from real issues they don’t want discussed.Yes as an isolated incident it is trivial.
But it represents the current political climate.
Flags are used to distract people when we should be talking about, people's standards of living, their communities and having a fulfilling life. These things matter far more to me, it is after all a symbol, it's meaning and significance are in the minds of people and exist only as much as they are commonly agreed. Things that are not symbolic such as how we treat each other, food, the state of our town, housing and heating are the things I'd prefer to have pride in.I find it alarming that you criticise those who defend the waving of the Union flag and who show pride in their country, yet you have nothing to say about the poster who posts a picture of the Isis flag for the sole intention of trying to antagonise people. Wonder what theyre going to do when the blue all disappears from the Union flag? Will they be as proud?Does she post on here (see below)?

Billy Bragg wrote a song about youI was a miner..
clearly you are incapable of reading what I said because it doesn't suit your point to do so. I said he posted the ISIS picture with the sole intention of trying to antagonise people. The same way he uses the symbol of the black power movement as his avatar.Flags are used to distract people when we should be talking about, people's standards of living, their communities and having a fulfilling life. The ISIS photo someone posted, as I'm sure you already know was not in support of ISIS. It was focusing on the sort of people and ideologies that tend to use flags to demand a show of loyalty and persecute those who don't.
No, I want people to be able to express their pride in the UK in their own way without criticism from you on how you think it should be done.As for your first para, why shouldn't people wave, fly or hang up the Union flag when they want to celebrate. Are you lefties such killjoys that you want to outlaw things that bring so much joy to people.
but hang on a mo, isn't that what the thread was about in the first place An interview with some-one who had a union flag in the background. And that person being mocked for it. In fact, your post is a pile of shiite. If you hadn't noticed I'm defending the people waving their flags with pride. It's you lot who are criticising it. Go and read EBSN's post where he talks about people waving the flag and it offending people and antagonising them.Jeez, it's not me that's criticising it it's you!.No, I want people to be able to express their pride in the UK in their own way without criticism from you on how you think it should be done.
There’s some thick people on this thread. Charlie Stayte was the one who questioned the flag but Naha Munchety is getting all the flak . I wonder why that is? All the Cabinet have the Union Flag in their office he was trying to be funny by saying it wasn’t as big as some of his colleagues have. But doesn’t suit the Daily Mail .
I've no problem with flag waving as such and it can be a wonderful sight when we come together as a country in celebration of our ideals and togetherness.but hang on a mo, isn't that what the thread was about in the first place An interview with some-one who had a union flag in the background. Not bothered really. I read the Daily Mail but usually give up after the sport. Charlie Stayt also wears bright socks which pisses me off moreCharlie Stayt is as funny as kidney stones. Do you think he would have tried to take the piss out of a politician from any other country with a flag in his office?
I agree. As some-one said earlier, patriotism not nationalism. I ain't even seen the BBC interview as that doesn't interest me. It was the description that our flag was a rag which I objected to.I've no problem with flag waving as such and it can be a wonderful sight when we come together as a country in celebration of our ideals and togetherness.
I have a huge ** problem with certain extreme groups like the old NF and more recently the EDL etc etc using it as a vehicle to promote hatred and division. They were shitting on it imo.
I suppose I should get past that.
I also think this whole BBC thing is an attempt by those who would see it die to stir up something that isn't there. Stayt was taking the piss out of the flag.
Aahh I get it. It's a great gesture when someone waves a national flag at a sporting event, kind of cool, modern and vibrant, but it's moronic when a politician has a flag in his home, whether or not he's waving it.Flag waving was great when we hosted the London Olympics. The country felt cool, modern, vibrant and together. The flag waving of today's politicians is as far removed from the Olympic feeling as you could possible get. Criticising that isn't being critical of this country it's finding fault with moronic symbols.
I think there’s a difference between someone waving a flag at a sporting event, hoping their team or country wins, and a group of politicians suddenly embracing a flag that they haven’t shown much interest in previously. Seems a bit like jumping on a bandwagon to me.Aahh I get it. It's a great gesture when someone waves a national flag at a sporting event, kind of cool, modern and vibrant, but it's moronic when a politician has a flag in his home, whether or not he's waving it.
Agree totally apart from the BBC point. You even actually say he was laughing at the flag?I've no problem with flag waving as such and it can be a wonderful sight when we come together as a country in celebration of our ideals and togetherness.

Nah watch it back, naga is the one laughing. For whatever reason she deemed it funny then liked several Twitter posts taking the piss. She then went on to apologise when pulled up on it. And before the idiots start it’s got fuck all to do with skin colour, it’s to do with respect.Agree totally apart from the BBC point. You even actually say he was laughing at the flag?
I’m not a big fan of Naga (I’m sure she’ll be devastated to hear that). But I’m also not a fan of Honest Bob. For me it’s a bit like the Piers Morgan/Jeremy Clarkson spat.Nah watch it back, naga is the one laughing. For whatever reason she deemed it funny then liked several Twitter posts taking the piss. The country was united. At the time it was superb, looking back it was surreal how fantastic it was. Today its culture war galore. Lines are divided with brexit, lockdowns the royals. Its all part of the playbook, divide the nation and the ruling class run riot. We are all mugs for falling for it, I've decided not too fall for it but I will object to the way the country is being run and how its become a crooked kleptocracy. Its up to you if you want to get behind politicians flying flags, all I can ask is for people to exercise some critical thinking, there is nothing wrong with criticising the way our country is being run. That is the way a healthy democracy should function.Aahh I get it. He was. But I think it was because he'd interviewed a few Ministers who had displayed flags of different proportions and was checking out his 'size'.Agree totally apart from the BBC point. You even actually say he was laughing at the flag?
She's laughing at Stayt. White person takes the piss. Black woman giggles. You go for the giggler not the instigator. Tells me all I need to know.Nah watch it back, naga is the one laughing. For whatever reason she deemed it funny then liked several Twitter posts taking the piss. She then went on to apologise when pulled up on it. Be nice to hear some grown up honest transparency around it from those two themselvesHe was. But I think it was because he'd interviewed a few Ministers who had displayed flags of different proportions and was checking out his 'size'.
Well first of all it’s the U.K. not England."There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word, which means more to me than any other. That word is England." WS Churchill
If you do not like it here and you do not respect our flag culture and values then leave you will not be missed
But you salute the flag Mex yes?Well first of all it’s the U.K. not England.
And along with the flag the “culture and values” includes things like the BBC and the NHS.
So if you have a problem with the BBC or the NHS then maybe you need to think about leaving?
Of course. Like every True Brit it’s the first thing I do every morning. But you salute the flag Mex yes?
I don't think you should confess that you stand to attention for Brenda. Some people will get completely the wrong idea. And we have enough froth already.Of course. Like every True Brit it’s the first thing I do every morning.
I also always stay up for the BBC close down when they play the National Anthem. And then I stand to attention and bow to the picture of the Queen on my living room wall.
Doesn’t everyone?
ZzzzzzzzOf course. Like every True Brit it’s the first thing I do every morning.

Well if they get the wrong idea it’s probably because they are Commies. Or worse. Liberals!!!!I don't think you should confess that you stand to attention for Brenda. Some people will get completely the wrong idea. And we have enough froth already.
Funnily enough so do I.Zzzzzzzz
I expect better
I pay for both of them they exist because of me and mine paying for them for generations I won’t be going anywhereWell first of all it’s the U.K. not England.

Like you I’m not really one for conspiracies.Do you ever feel like people are following you or talking about you? Just wondering like.
