The Summer Transfer thread. Critchley Part_deux.

Does anyone think we may pay a fee for a player before the window slams shut?
I can’t get my head round the obsession with paying a fee for a player. Guarantees nothing other than the vanity it seems to give fans when it’s announced. Get a grip.

We paid for Joe Nuttall but not Josh Bowler. Callum Wright but not Keshi Anderson. Bez Lubala but not Marvin Ekpiteta.

I do, though, think we will sign another 1/2 before the end of deadline. From Critch’s interview it sounds like Rhodes and Kouassi were done yesterday, and he was still going with calls this morning.

Personally I think we'll sign Moxon before the window closes.......not based on anything other than my own opinion

Cue loads of people who can't get their head round the fact we NEED anyone who makes us better, stating we don't NEED midfielders

I also think another forward (target man) will be on the radar allowing Holmes and possibly Beesley to go out on loan

We need another striker IMO and a better wide player or two. Holmes won't be in the squad. I dont think he will loan Beesley out either having paid quite a lot for him. Little chance of Moxon I think.

Moxon not signing his extension is very telling to me, still think we’re in with a chance there.

However, us having Jensen Weir certainly decreases the chances of his arrival.

I’d personally go out and get another wingback to replace CJ.

According to reports from Hull, we're looking to get Ryan Longman on loan. Played 37 times in the Championship last season, 2 goals and 1 assist. Has better stats in League 1 though with 44 games 8 goals and 2 assists.

He really is exactly what we need. Can play anywhere across the top line and he’s tricky. Remember him playing against us for AFCW in the promotion year - he was causing problems in that game.

Kouassi was free

Blackpool Football Club is pleased to confirm the signing of Kylian Kouassi following the expiration of his contract at Sutton United.
From Sutton united site.
Although out of contract at Sutton at the end of June, as Kylian is under the age of 24 we will be due compensation from Blackpool. The clubs are discussing a suitable figure, and if one cannot be agreed then it will be decided by a tribunal.

Gazoot....

Neil Critchley says Blackpool won’t overreact in the transfer market following their 3-0 defeat to Lincoln City.

The summer window comes to a close at 11pm on September 1, with the Seasiders still looking to do some more business.

Critchley states their plan won’t be impacted by the loss at the LNER Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

“You can’t be reactive off one result,” he said.

“We’ve got a plan in place and a strategy that we’ll follow.

“We will continue with the work we have been doing over numerous weeks and days.

“We’ve been speaking to players and agents, trying to do what we need to do.

“We know what we need to do and that won’t change off the back of one performance.

“We could be relatively busy this week, and that could be in and out. We’re trying to build a squad that we think can sustain all the way through.

“There’s loads of games and we have to make sure we’re ready.

“Against Lincoln we lacked personality all over the pitch- we’re a little bit too nice to play against at times, so we have to improve on that straight away otherwise it’s like we’re accepting defeat.”

How many new players are we predicting to come in before the deadline? I think three would be a realistic and helpful amount with a similar number heading out. They have to be good enough for the starting eleven though. Oakley-Booth has been brought in and not made a matchday squad yet.

I'd say 3 in is about right, I think we might still sign Moxon a striker (Cosgrove or similar) and potentially Longman from Hull or someone who can play wing back.

Outs there could be plenty Holmes, Trybull, Virtue, Tharme, Dale possibly although he's been in every squad thus far, and I hope not but possibly Apter as well if they get him a L2 loan, I wonder if the Crewe interest from last year might resurface 🤔

Interesting few days coming up that's for sure

If we lose Tharme we are seriously short of cover if we play 4 at the back unless LCB brought in

Rumours that Ladapo from Ipswich is going to be sent out on loan. Watched him a few times for Ipswich last season where he got 17 goals and he looked very good. Only played 35 mins for them this season and they look like they're getting another striker in so he will be sent back to league 1.

You'd hope that if he does become available that we'd be all over it. He's quality in this division.

Emile Acquah at Barrow has 3 goals in 5 and scored a cracker v Wrecsam on Saturday. Looks potentially more threatening than our forwards. 23 years old. 6ft 3. Maybe we'll get a look at him soon!

Another is Will Evans at Newport, he's 26 and was in MF last season, but they've put him upfront this season and he has 7 goals in 6 games so far. Seems to be a late bloomer as was knocking around the Welsh league for 4/5 years, but has made the step up with ease, he played 45 times for Newport last season.

There are definitely still players out there, I've just read a thread from an Oxford fan on available strikers and there's a few good players still available. Tariqe Fosu is available on a free, left winger that was at Rotherham last year. Think the Championship was too high of a step up for him right now, but he could be quality in league 1.

If Dembele in is true, then we just need the forceful midfielder, the forward and the left sided centre half, and five players to leave!

What do you base that on?
The kid has been hailed as a wonderkid since the age of 13, I remember that him signing for Celtic made the news, that's unusual for a 13 year old, this player has been hyped up for years to make it big, it could be too much too young.

Or he might just need the right level. He's only 20 yet.
