The Summer Transfer Thread - Part 1.

If promotion doesn’t excite you then i’d just give up on watching football 👍
Entertaining football excites me. Probably before your time Arsenal had a habit of scoring one, then shutting up shop, earning themselves the soubriquet ‘boring Arsenal’. That may be your idea of excitement, it’s certainly not mine. Of course I want promotion, but in the right way.

We just need to be solid defensively, it doesn’t mean we have to park the bus when we’re 1-0 up. The point I’m making is that the 1-0 away results will get a team promoted not the 4-0 hammering at home. Either way, the defence has to be strong otherwise we’ll go nowhere!

I agree about a strong defence, but not at the expense of a bit of flair. Hopefully we can find the right players to help us in both departments. There needs to be a fair few ins and outs to achieve that.👍

I notice Embleton hasn't played much this season. Wonder if we could make a cheeky bid?
You do realise, he was one of Sunderlands best players at the start of the season, before picking up a serious injury to end his campaign. No chance.

Our defence is a strange one, man for man they seem decent, particularly for league one. The issue is down to coaching and organisation which is why I would like us to get an established manager who can keep us solid, picking up 1-0 wins - all the top teams get promoted on the back of a strong defence.
You defend as a team. Critchley had his teams keeping a pretty good defensive shape. Appleton took more interest in attacking shape and, as for, MM I haven't a clue what he was trying to do.

Well firstly both have missed chunks of the season.
Secondly Thornilly and Marv are being relegation from the championship, Casey and Tharm are relegated from the division we will be playing in next season.
If Nelson does sign (and I hope he does), then with Thorniley on the left (if we can get him to sign as well) and Ekpiteta in the middle, we'd have a strong back 3 for league 1. We could then play with wing backs, one being Lyons as he loves to get forward. Who knows, Thompson may come good in league 1.

Thompson may still be out of his depth. Hopefully we’ll have Tharme and Casey recalled too - they’ll have a big part to play.

It’s GK, LB, midfield and striker that are the priorities.

Cam Embert is cheesed off being on the bench at FC Gruyere and would relish a slice of the action in LG1. Striker who knows how to put it in the onion bag hopefully Pool can wrap up a deal for him.

Another clown, who doesn't have a clue. Just off the top of my head:

Toney - Peterborough to Brentford £6M
Watkins - Exeter (L2) to Brentford £2M in 2017!

There are many more. Yates has proven he can cut it at Championship level in an average/poor team, he's only 26 and has 2yrs on his contract.

Maybe you need to give up commenting if you have zero knowledge on football, which probably makes you a nobber. 😂
He will not go for above 3m. Absolutely zero chance. We may value him at 5m, but the club will listen to offers of 2m, and he will push for the move, which i wouldn't be-grduge at all. More than double his wages and play in Europe, it's a no brainer.

Well we disagree, Yates doesn't have a choice unless there is a release clause, which there isn't at £2M. Strikers are hard to find, if we sell below £2M who exactly would we be able to replace him with for less?

Thorniley will deffinetly be gone. He does not want to play L1 football. His contract has expired so he will get a sign on fee from his new club.

There is a relegation release clause which is below 3m... I'm not saying it's the right thing, it makes no commercial sense, but it's most likely to happen on the balance of probabilities

I hope you are right but without a manager in place with a plan we could easily find ourselves missing out on a whole raft of signings and we DESPERATELY need forwards.

Reckon if Yates stayed then we will defo be top 6 next season. League 1 he looks very comfortable in, and almost score for fun.
He's just scored 15 and had 6 assists (in all competitions) and 14 and 5 assists in the Championship, in a team that got relegated, there's no doubt that's his level, hence why he would and has scored for fun in L1, there's almost zero chance of him playing there next season though.

Cant wait for the season to finish and put us out of this misery.

Then please can we have an early announcement on a manager, No.2, players retained, season ticket prices etc.

Let the rebuild commence early so we can be ready to hit the ground running come pre season for a change, with fans positive and everyone pulling together.

Looking forward to the pre season news and an interesting League One season ahead, even a couple of new grounds watching the Pool.

Lets bin the negativity, childish run chasing and embrace the huge decisions and choices which are due to happen.

UTP!

We are being linked with another striker, this time Zac Robinson from AFC Wimbledon.

Scored 11 from 28 whilst on loan at Dundee.
