The unpopular Bristol Street Motors, lower league and Premier team under 18s competition

Here is a good idea.
I'm sat watching my second team Airdrie live in the final against The New Saints from Oswestry in the Welsh league.

Why don't they scrap the Premier League teams sending their children teams which attract from 300 to 1000 and instead, invite all the League 1 and 2 clubs, then the Welsh Premier League clubs, plus the Scottish Championship clubs and have a British competition?

Think about it. Dundee United, Dunfermline, Airdrie, St Johnstone, Arbroath and teams like that would be a much more attractive fixture than Brentford under 18s.

Group B. Blackpool, Llandudno and Queen of the South.

Thoughts on those fixtures for example.

Oh and Airdrie are 2-1 up after 67 minutes by the way in the final.

I think it says it all that you wrote all that in the 67th minute of a final! 😂 I’d like to see it going back with National League sides in it again though as was much better then than with the Prem kids.

Conference sides were previously involved ? Recall a few issues around which sides were classed as North & South. Memory not what it was but think we played Hereford or Cheltenham one year away classed as a Northern section tie….
Having said that, National League South doesn’t appear to have any sides north of the M4

The group stages of the EFL trophy should be incorporated into pre season as should the league cup first round (with all clubs in the draw not giving the “big” boys byes to the later rounds).
Gives teams a minimum of 4 competitive games instead of tippy tappy friendlies - which can be meaningless

Gets my vote, the competition as it is is garbage, as you say ditch the PL U21s which devalued an already unpopular competition. Instead tweak the format and get the Scottish Championship clubs involved, top end National League clubs, and invitations to top clubs from NI and Rep Irish leagues. A trip to Scotland or over to Belfast or Dublin etc would be great!

There was a great little cup competition a few seasons back involving some Southern and Northern Irish teams, Scottish and some non league English clubs.
I went to to Bohemians at home to Sutton United (non league at time) and it was great with lots of visiting supporters.
Quite a few Scottish supporters arrived for the next round but it was frozen out but a least they had a city break!

Shame it wasn't continued.

The competition is regionalised until the semi-finals why would you bring in Scottish and Welsh teams and all that travel?
700 mile round trip to Inverness anyone?
Makes no sense.

The tournament should be used as pre-season games for the group matches and the final in October school holiday week.
Create a bit of interest in nice weather.

I'd absolutely love to play Inverness away in a British cup game. Great trip that would be. Highlands is a wonderful place to visit for a few days in July pre season.

Have you a list of attendances for Bournemouth, Luton, Brentford, Sheff Utd, Forest etc u/21s home games?
No….mind you they don’t allow the u21 premier teams to play a home tie😂….
…I think the real issue is only a few of the U21 teams will draw much of a crowd at any ground…in our part of the world probably only Man U and The Red Scousers with there local usually sit at home sky watching supporters (ie) hangerons.

Yep been a couple of times but wouldn't fancy a trip Tuesday night in October or paying July's prices for accommodation.

I think the travelling is just too much for a tournament played on Tuesday nights
What I would do is put league 1 and 2, national league and the top half of both national league north and south into a competition, which would give them something extra to play for on what are some very difficult divisions to get put of. Split into north and south and do a straight knockout competition as the smaller teams are more likely to cause an upset than they would in a group stage format.
I know this would never happen, but I would bin the league cup at the same time. It's just the FA cup without non league upsets played in front of relatively small crowds in midweek. It would in turn, I think, give the FA cup an extra bit of magic

If you think typing a 45 second message whilst play has stopped for an injury is funny, you should come on AVFTT during a Blackpool match. 12 pages full of messages during the game. You'll pepper yourself with hilarity

Never go on my phone when a Blackpool game is on even during a break in play as that’s when we chant louder. Thousands of people on their phones when a games on at grounds like the Emirates is turning football into sports like baseball where they are more interested in the stadium TV screens and food sellers. Maybe I’m old fashioned and I’m also impressed that you can type all that in 45 seconds.
