Tony Mowbray

He's done a fantastic job there so yep it would seem crazy to pot him. But nevertheless, he is an old school type of manager who has been around many clubs so you could liken him to all the other obvious names..

Mowbray is an outstanding manager, do not confuse him for a dinosaur! He thrives working with young players and bringing out their potential. If Sunderland really do bin him off, we'd be daft not to throw our hat in the ring. Him alongside Dobbie with a succession plan in place could be pretty special.

Agreed .Not sure he would come back to Lancashire I seem to remember him moaning about the travelling and being away from his family . Sunderland geographically was perfect for him

Used to work with a T’Rovers fan that didn’t have a good word to say for him. Anyway he did a great job managing Sunderland 🤣🤣🤣

Not to sound pessimistic, but...

Why would a manager who got a newly promoted team to the championship play offs drop down to league 1?

If he was to get potted, I would say it’s all about how much he wants another job, how long is he happy to be out of the game for, and what if any other offers is he given prior to the start of pre season friendlies, I mean he isn’t getting any younger🤔. always worth a shout with Dobbie as his no 2, that could work well. I doubt he financially needs big money.

Really? Who do they think they are? They’re a newly promoted club who only came up through the playoffs last season after spending 4 or 5 years in league 1 and he’s got them to the playoffs again in their first season at that level!
Football has gone crazy.

Ridiculous if true but I remember similar retort when Brighton Sacked Chris Hughton in 2019 after keeping them up in the prem. Turned out to be a great decision even if it was quite harsh at the time

He has done it before, managed Coventry City who were in danger of relegation to the fourth tier when he took over and then managed rovers in the third tier. He did all this after his west brom, celtic, and boro days. The relocation is a big question mark though, he wanted to be closer to family he said after rovers.
