Friday, as always, is chill out night, which often means music night.
We‘ve done every angle of music on here, but recently it’s been singles and bands.
So to albums. I was having a Google re the Chilli Peppers as their album By The Way is a massive favourite of mine and it transpires it’s 20 years old this week 🫤 crikey, seems like yesterday. So my favourite 3

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Lauryn Hill

By The Way , Chilli Peppers

AM, Arctic Monkeys

Always subject to possible change but these will always be on my list of top ten.

So what’s yours ?

An ulterior motive for posting this is because all the politics sh+te is bumming me out right now 🫤

If you were to ask my top 10 albums, 4th - 10th would change depending on my mood, however, these three would always remain 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively

All time fav , the debut from Tyketto - Don’t Come Easy

Magnum - Vigilante

Def Leppard - Hysteria

Difficult to say as changes constantly but tonight I'd go ;

The Smiths
Ocean Rain
Station to Station

Communique. Dire Straits
Wish You We’re Here. Floyd
Sun Collection . Elvis Presley.
I could go on but it would take far too long .

Marquee Moon - Television
Wish you were here - Pink Floyd
Harvest - Neil Young

3rd equal - Hotel California - The Eagles
& Alladin Sane - Bowie

Stone Roses
The Bends
Doolittle

or

Fat of the Land
Sheer Heart Attack
Are you Experienced

or

OK Computer
Screamadelica
It Takes a Nation of Millions

or

The Sophtware Slump
The Black Parade
Play

or ask me again tomorrow.

Nice thread…I’ve been bang into 90s stuff recently, so on that basis…
Ben folds five…self titled and whatever and ever amen…great stuff…
Chilli peppers…there all great but bang into californication recently…
Fat boy slim ..palookaville is awesome…
That’ll do for starters ….🤣

Permanent Waves - Rush
Bat Out Of Hell - Meat Loaf
Let There Be Rockgrass - Hayseed Dixie (who I'm just waiting for coming on stage in Chester tonight)

near misses :-
Only Visiting This Planet - Larry Norman
This Means War - Petra

Sun collection yes. I've always wanted to like Wish You Were Here but never quite go there.
I’ve named Dire Straits and Pink Floyd basically because I can’t choose for the life of me any other of my Rock n Roll/ Rockabilly albums, I love all my music , but it’s all about mood, if you get what I mean. Wish you were here is my favourite chilling album , any Straits when I’m working .

I saw Hayseed Dixie at a bike rally years ago, they were very different but fantastic!

Smash Mouth - Fush Yu Mang
Dream Theatre - Octavarium
TLC - Crazy Sexy Cool

... and because I can't help myself and they're my favourite band...

R.E.M - UP

OK I major on Beatles but if I want to go to albums that should have wilted with time but haven't:
Astral Weeks - Van Morrison
The Clash - The Clash
Entertainment - Gang of Four.

'Otherside' is a thing of greatness, Frusciante is perfection on that song, just incredible considering he was virtually dead two years before.
A volatile band, drugs and artistic genius and all that. Great for us, not so great for them.
Otherside is ace, popped it on now 👌

Really difficult to pick only 3

Smiths - Hatfull of Hollow
REM - Out of Time
Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks

or

Nirvana - Never Mind
Ultravox - any - both line ups
David Bowie - Hunky Dori
T Rex - Ride a White Swan
Soft Cell - Non Stop Erotic Caberet
Human League - Travalogue

Sorry that's 9, got carried away :)

Non stop erotic cabaret was ground breaking excellence. Feel a bit disloyal I didn’t put it in my top 3.

Soft Cell got me through my teenage years 👍

And here's me feeling bad for putting up a 4th option! 😁

Can never decide between that and the title track as my favourite.
I'd vote for otherside in that situation.

Also, pretty little ditty is a tune and a half...

I forgot Electric Warrior - T Rex and Nods as good as a wink - Faces, The Image has cracked - ATV, Exodus - Bob Marley, 2 Sevens Clash - Culture, Hissing of summer lawns - Joni Mitchell, One World - John Martyn, Spirit of Eden - Talk Talk, It'll End in tears _ This Mortal Coil,

Newer albums - Shortly After takeoff - BC Camplight, Dragonblood - Gabriels, Joy as an act of resistance - Idles, Holiday Destination - Nadine Shah, Modern Medicine - Phobophobes, Dummy - Portishead, Standing at the skies edge - Richard Hawley,

Is that 3 yet? 🤣

Never Mind the Bollocks
Who’s Next
Hunky Dory
Could change if you asked me again tomorrow but Bollocks would always be in my top 3

Right then, it's a free for all,
The Royal Scam - Steely Dan
Exodus - Bob Marley
Flaunt the imperfection - China Crisis
Kilamanjaro - Teardrop Explodes

I've got loads more !

You like China Crisis ?. Nice one. One of their songs, Christian. Is such a special song for me. Emotional attachment.

This is impossible Lala😉 Surely Top 300 albums! Anyway…
What’s Going On: Marvin Gaye. First album that made me listen, instead of just wanting to dance to.
Cloak & Dagger: Lee Scratch Perry and the Upsetters, liquid bliss.
Songs in the key of life: Stevie Wonder, covers everything music can offer. Genius.
