Trains

Shocking today. Kicked off at the station as per always.. to be followed by a 45 minute wait at Horwich for the train to be cancelled at Preston.

Awful

Not so sure police had much choice. Northern irresponsible again: letting trains go through fast when there’s a platform full of people.

4,100 travelled today. How many by train?

In theory the station being so close and the amount of space around that stadium to make places to eat & drink should make for a really good day out and allow for an easy getaway afterwards. In reality there is 1 away pub that is 15 minutes walk away and, as much to do with the shit train service on match days as anything else, means it’s all a bit of a chore. I mentioned on another thread a couple of days ago that I once didn’t get on a train until about half 6 after a game there.

Surely not difficult to put a couple of specials on, even if they work around the regular services and are non stop to North station.

Won’t be going there by train again. Drove today and was home for 6 including a stop at Bargain Booze.

Train wasn’t moving for about 40 mins, staff at station said the doors had been forced open breaking the train and there was no way of fixing it…. Said they were getting a bus organised… people fuming, train then set off..

You see the doors being forced open story was pedalled over the tannoy with the blame put on our fans but where the fuck was the train for the 35 mins till it tipped up.

Suppose that was our fault 🤯

Trains were a mare even before the game. Went to Manchester first for food and drinks, wanted to get the 2 o clock from Piccadilly back to Horwich which was cancelled. Got an Uber, stuck in traffic, missed most of the first half 🤦‍♂️
Then the shambles on the way home

The train was late out of Manchester Airport for some reason and later delayed further in Manchester to allow passengers to relocate from the front 3 carriages to the back three due to the expected numbers joining at Horwich. The train seemed to be working fine when it left Lostock. (We jumped on the Man Airport bound train to Lostock to avoid the carnage that was building at Horwich! It didn't help much in the long run)

One of the reasons I went with Ash tours, could see this being a shit show.

As above, should be a special. The number of people paying would more than cover the cost, plus ensues Joe public doesn't get inconvenienced.

Spot on, with a rail station next to the ground and over 4,000 Blackpool fans attending it is clearly going to be very busy on the Blackpool to Manchester trains, even more so post match when everyone arrives at Horwich Parkway to return home.

The great thing about the football specials were that the trains turned up empty to accommodate all the fans instead of already being pretty full of people travelling on the normal trains which makes it difficult to board the thing anyway.

It amazes me that the people who make these decisions don't engage their brains and put plan in place so we can avoid the carnage that happened on the trains yesterday, it was bad enough watching that pile of shite without all the hassle people had to endure just to get home.

Wish I’d driven too,got back to poulton 8pm ish ,first and last time I go on the train, spectacular fuck up from police and shittish rail a disgrace ,it’s like a 3rd world country ffs

The Blackpool fans behaviour at the station didn’t help.

When you travel fortnightly by train to and from Yorkshire and Blackpool, you get used to shit and overcrowded services, cancellations and late arrivals and departures. No direct trains presently!

Does anyone know what happened to the bloke flat out on the platform don't know if Bolton or Blackpool just wondered if they ok?

Nightmare🤦‍♂️

It’s a bit of bugger not being able to claim a refund when you didn’t buy a ticket in the first place. Who should I complain to about the appalling travel conditions?

well he had a blackpool scarf on…….irrespective of that, hope he’s ok. The only bit i saw he was flat out on his back.

Letting of an Airbomb on the train at Preston station and everyone having to get off on the way to the game won't have helped.

Got the 1330 from Poulton, and was a decent atmosphere, loads of Pool got on at Chorley and it was rammed. Great atmosphere with singing etc. Arrived into Horwich at about 1415, and the police were waiting, it did seem like there was hundreds of us.

Station chaos after, got the delayed 1801 and was into Preston just in time to make the delayed 1906 back to London.

Still glad I went. Can't beat these big away days. Shame we weren't rewarded on the pitch.

I think BR got pretty sick of 'football specials' trains being smashed up, so no surprise they don't do them any more.
They don't have the rolling stock anymore. Each train company 'rents' their units and only have the basic minimum for the day to day services; nothing more; they cannot add extra coaches. I have tried on behalf of another football club that has problems every home game.

Absolute bollocks that was - you can’t tell me a train door breaks because of some people slapping the side of a train. It’s not made out of cardboard.
