Transfer deadline day thread

Well it’s the final countdown with less than 24 hours left.

How many in and how many out. We will soon know.

Reckon 2 in and 2 out.

Will Bowler stay. This may be a nail biter like the Charlie Adam drama.

What of the other clubs big signings.

Oxford looking at buying Smozdics from Posh for big bucks and need CB funds to finance the deal. Apologies in advance if Smozdics is misspelled 😎

We can do better than Brannigan, he's over priced. I think Norburn and Kilkenny would be excellent additions and Kilkenny has a chance to get a move to us in the summer. We should then be doing all we can to get Bowler on a new 4 year contract so if we do have to lose him it will be at the proper price. No one seems to have questioned if he actually wants to leave or not. He may well want to stay.

Do you know what Norburn and Kilkenny even look like? 🤣

Bowler on a 4 year contract? What were those pink animals that just hurtled past my bedroom window on the wind?! 🤣

Two priorities today imo.
Strengthening our midfield options and keeping hold of Josh Bowler.
If we achieve that by the 11pm deadline it could be exciting times ahead for the rest of the season with a serious tilt at the playoffs.
IF Brannagan comes in it's likely that Thorniley would be part of the deal and Robson released to MK Dons.
A bid for Norburn or Kilkenny on loan is also a possibility.
It's also D day for Joe Nuttall who HAS to be sold or sent out on loan for his own sake.

If we keep Bowler, sign one of our central midfield targets & having offloaded Sarkic, Howe & Nuttall and got Kirk in for Mitchell, I would say it’s been a pretty decent window.

Summer is the preferred one. Less rush, more time to bring in and bed into the squad and more planning. Then we can start to really kick on.

Really hope we can offer bowler a new contract and he stays . He is only going to get better - not many can run with the ball like he can .
If the worse would happen and we lose him (remember it’s not the Oystons now , so hopefully it would have to be a decent amount ) which players coming in would we be happy with ? We must finish the window stronger !

Clearly going to be a long and busy day here at the Seaside. There will be a lot of closely linked deals depending upon the outcome of the Brannagan bid.

Oxford Mail saying "6 figures", not clear if Thorniley is involved.

Ox i'm surprised this is still rumbling on. My bet is that he'll still be an Oxford player come 11pm and we'll have a signed a loan in his place. Probably try again in Summer dependent on your league status.
The only time I think you'd need to worry is if we sold Bowler today because that would 100% put him in our price range (assuming you'd still accept the release clause value). But I think most of us would rather keep Bowler, and I'm not convinced that we'll sell him tbh.

Leave him alone lads :(

Any idea from your side what the bid was?
IT was 250k plus Thorniley on loan til the end of the season plus a little stick of Blackpool rock each for Fry and MacAnthony. 🤠

We always throw in a little sweetener on deadline day. .

This release clause deadline that has been mentioned by Oxford fans, does it actually exist? Surely if it did, their big mouth manager would've mentioned it? I suspect that isn't the case or their are some caveats to it.

Following on from above, he said the following after the win at Gillingham:

I guess it's the right thing to do, chase Plan A until we know there is 0 chance of a deal, then move on to other targets.
If hes happy at Ox then leave it, it just shows that hes an unambitious league one plodder.

Id rather we go for Norburn and the kid from Bournmouth, and keep Thorniley

Critch obviously prefers Brannagan. He's younger and better and probably offers more in an attacking sense. And if Norburn wants to be closer to home why did he go there in the summer? Messing them around a bit.

Guaranteed championship football with the possibility of a charge for the play offs for the premiership or scrape in the playoffs in league 1 because the top two are pretty much set for promotion 🤷‍♂️

Shock, horror.
Oxford player appeasing fans after emphatic win!!

Watch tomorrow's TTV IF we sign Brannagan with him saying "I've wanted to sign for Blackpool ever since they first showed an interest, a great club and can't wait to help them rise up the table "

🤷‍♂️

He has an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator. Serie-A don't allow them. Hope all goes well but it feels a strange one to me.
I wouldn't be surprised if the players insurance premiums have increased a bit! I’ve no idea how risky this is personally for the player but seems a bit uncomfortable to me IMO!

And have as good as track record in the playoffs as preston🤣🤣🤣

Ox given that CB may leave in the summer would you prefer to see him leave with a decent transfer fee now and Thorniley as part of the deal?
Said on another thread - he's that important to our promotion push, its worth taking the chance of keeping him and losing ~500k of his value.

Again, think a swap deal in summer (for a lower fee) is very likely if we don't go up.

I think it’s a Rubik’s cube kind of a day and a lot will depend on whether some of the biggest potential moves happen, eg Brennan Johnson and Fulham’s Carvalho. Players like Josh Bowler have been identified as replacements for potential big ticket movers and, in turn, clubs like ours are interested in replacing/strengthening if the sale happens. A domino effect kind of thing is basically what I’m saying.

I think if you read NC’s comments on Bowler it’s pretty clear that the club will sell if their price for him is matched (and I don’t think it’s as much as £2m though it could get bidded to that). There’s no way he’ll sign a new deal with us and with only 18 months left we can’t contemplate letting him walk away for nothing so it’s either now or the summer for Josh to leave for a decent fee.

If asked to say yes or no to whether Bowler will be our player come 11pm I’d probably say no. But, like NC, I’d be very happy if he still is.
