Transfer deadline day thread

My fear is we are chasing a lost cause in Brannagan, I guess we must be hearing different things from his agent but we need to make sure we have other irons in the fire. It's going to be a long day..
I think if Oxford aren’t promoted this year, he’ll come to us. Can understand why not at the moment… tough one for them and us. Seems silly to be freaking over him so much though, yeh he’s good but there’s a lot of good players, collate that to Bowler who is unique - no comparison.

From the Lancs Live Paage:

Early days of course so take this with a note of caution, but Lancs Live has been told by sources not to expect any movement when it comes to Josh Bowler today.

As I say, things can quickly change if a club comes in with an offer that is worth considering but as things currently stand Bowler is on course to remain a Blackpool player.

Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest have all been linked with interest in recent weeks, with the latter having two bids rejected for the winger.
Hmm. Starting to feel like maybe 'if we can't get Brannagan we won't sell Bowler'?

I see Bournemouth are being heavily linked with Todd Cantwell of Norwich, on loan until the end of the season, he would have been just what we are looking for, real talent but doesn't appear to be wanted at Norwich.
They’ve just signed Nat Phillips from Liverpool on loan. That’s a bloody good signing.
Cantwell was supposed to go to a top 4 side this season so bit of a steal for Bournmouth
They’re throwing those parachute payments around on loan signing s but good ones

When you say a 'top 4 side' I'm assuming you were talking the Championship so....

More fundamentally, Oxford simply value him more highly than we do.

There's nothing that says they can't accept a bid below the RC, in fact since it was always likely to be a player + cash deal the RC is a bit of a red herring anyway.
I’m not sure that’s necessarily the case. Oxford are only turning down an offer ‘for the time being’.

I don't blame Oxford for turning us down, they obviously would prefer to keep him, as we would Bowler. I can't second guess the outcomes just as in Critcthley's team selections either. I'll watch with interest though.

May be wrong but feel Bowler going is increasingly unlikely, Forest linked today with Morgan Rogers and a Bristol City striker. Suspect Norburn is the most likely incomer but could all be very late

Don’t you just love Transfer deadline day.

Clubs have had weeks and weeks to sort out January deals but yet 80%-90% of deals are done on the last day many being in the last hour some not being done at all before the clock ticks over to 11pm as they ran out of time.

Unbelievable Jeff. 🤣
Christmas Eve shopping!

Very slow window so far
If no big deals are done e.g Johnson from Forest, I cannot see many other deals going through, as the pyramid of transfers relies on the biggies

Nobbers have signed a centre half who last played in 2020 for Barnsley. Ambitious.

Bambo Diaby
Not played for two years as he's been banned due to an issue with a banned substance that he apparently didn't know he was taking...

Look I appreciate with what we are doing as a club but this pursuit of Brannagan is getting a bit daft now, I hope critchley hasn’t told SS it’s either him or nothing or something like that, there’s better players than him out there surely?

"Pushing 7 figures" sounds like it's probably around 900,000, which IMO is a fair valuation for Brannagan.

Matthew O'Riley from MK Dons went to Celtic for 1,500,000 this window and is a much better and younger player than Brannagan.

Only issue is that to Oxford, Brannagan is worth much more to them as they look to push for promotion.

They're kind of in a similar situation to us with Bowler (in that they would be willing to sell, but only for a very very high fee) except they will be even more desperate to keep him as they absolutely need him to fulfill their end of season goals while we don't really need Bowler to stay up.

Don't think this will get over the line unless we bid upwards of 1,500,000, which I think would be an overpay because he'll be cheaper in the Summer once Oxford fail to reach promotion.

Christ lads you're killing my nerves here!

"Pushing seven figures" reported, so quite confident it will be rejected.

Browne plays across the front three, not a Brannagan replacement.
You probably knoiw more than we do but his profile describes him as a midfielder.

How much do you value Thornily? If the new bid is £900K and includes him, that surely adds up to over £1M. Thornily has to be around the £200K region, more if you saw his performance on Saturday against a Prem elect side.

Karl Robinson told us:

“We all know what he can do and what a dangerous player he can be. I think two of his best games for us were first when he played centre-forward and in another game when he ran the game from the centre of midfield. So he opens up so many options for us and he is so hungry to succeed and do well for this club.

Hmmm

900,000 would probably be fair if he didn't have a release clause. Now the date for his release clause to be triggered has passed, you'll have to pay above that.

We're getting in a Brighton defender on loan so don't believe we'd have any interest in Thorniley anymore (until summer)

Versatile. Completely different players.

Another bid in for Brannagan, this is getting silly. 😵‍💫
Not silly we do not know how far they are apart and we should play hardball.
Either way he will be considering his future knowing their is firm Championship interest, but we have been totally above board about it
