Trump Rally

Ne

Quite tricky now a few QAnon bellends have been identified in the Capitol.
The leader of the Proud Boys said on Parler that they were turning up in large numbers with a twist. The twist being discarding their usual Fred Perry tops and wearing all black..like Antifa.
Btw: I've just seen a tweet by Farage and the responses from some of his 'followers' have started peddling this narrative already. Deluded morons.

It's breaking that a woman protestor had been shot dead.

Nobody should go to a demonstration and be killed. What a mess.

Be interesting to see how the politicians react now; they will all vote to agree to Biden.
I would have thought that most Americans will take the view that someone who broke into the Capitol building can expect to be shot.

Just wondering When the protests and riots are going to happen in support of this poor unarmed woman that has been murdered by US police?

There has to be at least a modest chance he could be impeached before the handover. Democrats now control all the necessary elements. Would be a hoot if the idiot got the boot.

I think I am right in saying that impeachment won't work as there would need to be a trial and Trump leaves office in two weeks

Mex identifies the procedure that can be used earlier in the thread - section 4 of the 25th Amendment

That rests with Pence and the Cabinet

Extract from the Times explains

There were calls last night for Mike Pence and the cabinet to remove President Trump from office amid reports that the vice-president took charge of deploying forces to the Capitol during the failed insurrection.

Under the 25th Amendment to the constitution, the vice-president and a majority of the cabinet can make a written declaration that the president is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office”.

In that scenario Mr Pence would become acting president for the remaining days of Mr Trump’s term.

The power has never been invoked but mutterings about its use began to amplify after it was reported that the deployment of the Washington National Guard was ordered by Mr Pence. According to The New York Times Mr Trump initially rebuffed and resisted requests to mobilise the guard to break up the mob of his supporters.

Something about respecting and accepting the democratic vote of the people. Or something like that.

What's up Lytham..........................that was the obvious question that was going to be raised. Let's have a better reply than "FO".
Because sometimes, when people post utter shit, the only response is fuck off I suppose..
This woman was engaged in an attempt at insurrection against the very democratic Republic that they/ she claims to love. I personally wish she hadn't lost her life, especially over someone like Trump of all people, but she would have known the danger of what she was doing.
This is different to being killed simply because of the colour of a person's skin.

Perhaps Scrooge is one of those best President ever types and that's fine but anything anyone says about him, regardless of the evidence, will fall on deaf ears.

I took scrooges post as being sarcastic?

Just to add Times Radio had a US Constitutional expert on whilst I was driving into work and he suggested this provision wasn't designed to deal with the current scenario rather when the President is incapacitated such as in a coma

I was just listening to the radio, the 25th amendment could take a few days to put into place and the president could fight it legally.
The best news is that Twitter, Facebook and Instagram have taken Trump off the air denying him the oxygen he needs to fan the flames.
Biden getting elected right now, there have still been some objections. As mentioned earlier Cruz positioning himself to inherit Trump's base.
I can't believe that many Americans including Trump supporters are very happy about what has happened, hopefully some will be reflecting on their choice to support Trump. The republican party also needs to flush these turds from their party.

Personally I think they just have to ride out the next two weeks and the Republicans in power just need to isolate Trump from day to day involvement as best they can

As an aside I can see some of those protesters doing some serious time once the dust settles

CNN reporting that there have been a few resignations from members of the white house staff this evening. What took them so long? A situation like this was completely forseeable, in fact it is what Trump wanted.

Yes, it is only 14 days but he could still do quite a lot of damage.
For instance, he could issue a lot of presidential pardons to dangerous people.
Talk on R4 of Trump trying to do something aggressive regarding Iran.
Apparently it is a bit like the bunker in the WH. Trump dazed, furious, shocked and angry at the disloyalty of his (once) friends lashing out wherever he can.
Is the world in danger of a nuclear attack?

If a mob broke into the HoC during a crucial debate in order to prevent the enactment of the election of a new Government, would you expect the police to back off and allow them access? American police are armed. She must have known the risk.

They wont let him near.

We don't know the circumstances of this and it is in itself a tragedy.
Given the usual no-nonsense actions of US security forces, I am surprised that only one person was shot. 3 others have died from what was said but from medical emergencies.
It was hardly an insurrection, despite the camo-gear and the rather strange cos-play going on there was very little actual violence and rebellion. When they got inside the capitol it seemed they didn't really know what to do.

Of course it's a tragedy, but someone gets shot by American police as they break into an iconic building isnt a surprise.

It was an attempted insurrection encouraged by a sitting President. He was hoping that the pictures would encourage others in other States to do the same. You are right though in that they had no idea what to do when they got there.

Biden now ceritified as POTUS. 13 days of chaos before the child goes.
Can't see anything else until 20th Jan and on the day itself, unless something happens quickly to tame and restrain the deranged animal that Trump is. Surely Pence and the rest of the Republican cabinet can do something to sort him out other than impeachment which timescales may not allow?

It should be fine now as he's been banned from Twitter, Facebook, etc ......

He only has the nuclear codes left now. 😲

Scara repositioning and re-inventing himself .... or trying to compare this insurrection with opposition to Brexit. Which one is it, numpty
Well you must remember. 2016. Just after he’d lost the referendum, Cameron incited a mob of enraged Remainers to invade and ransack the Houses of Parliament. Scara recalls it vividly.

I understand the argument on the timescales regarding impeachment but he should still be charged with inciting a riot and be tried whether he is in office or not.

It’s quite interesting to see Tory mp’s and ministers line up to condemn trump after four years of praising and emulating his style of politics.
Johnson stating he should win the Nobel peace prize and Scott Benton, Blackpool south MP endorsing trump pre election springs to mind.

I mean, that is a load of absolute bollocks.
Oh, just remembered that state visit we gave him as well
He's president of one of the most powerful countries in the world, don't be thick.

Jeremy Corbyn refused to go to the state banquet given in Trump's honour and Sadiq Khan was brave enough to denounce him at the time.
With the benefit of hindsight, it looks like those two were on the right side of history regarding Trump.

Yeah you're probably right, but both of them are dickheads of the highest order also. So a bit interesting.

Do the work yourself mate.
Johnson ( Britain Trump) , Rees Mog , IDS, Gove, all lining up to get a photo with him even Teresa May kissing his arse the list goes on they all loved Trump.

DONALD TRUMP has been issued an arrest warrant by an Iraqi court after being accused of premeditated murder - a crime punishable by the death penalty in the Middle East state.

They did this originally back in June through interpol and it was quashed.

Some judge in Iraq issued the latest one after listening to testimony from the family of the Jihad General who was killed last Jan.

Never likely to be followed through though - obviously!!!!

Merely pointing out the mass hypocrisy of melts like you.

👍 Johnson and Trump are cut from the same cloth after all; right wing, narcissistic dilettantes.

It would be for the best surely if Trump could be impeached/arrested and relieved of the Presidency and put under house arrest for the next couple of weeks or so until Biden is sworn in.
The downside is that it could see a rise in disorder in the US for a couple of weeks but at least the rest of the world would be safer and he wouldn't be allowed to internally get his own so called retribution.

I agree with that. The only possible route would be section 4 of the 25th amendment, which would see him replaced by Pence immediately the letter is sent to Congress. Trump can challenge and there’s then a process to be followed, but if it could be dragged out for a couple of weeks that’d be enough. There are some Democrats who are calling for it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Pence hasn’t told Trump “stop ** around or I’ll do it”.

Don’t think he can be arrested. Presidential immunity.
