Near field communication. Sort of very localised BluetoothThanks. Still no idea what it is though!
Thank you. If it needs to be on and people don't know what it is then it's not surprising there are problems. I have a card, so no issue yesterday.Near field communication. Sort of very localised Bluetooth
The ticketing works, it's the people who don't know how to use it.they were just letting people go through in 3/4. Why does the ticketing never work on the first game?
Fair point. I was half joking with the steward that I didn't know what to do. Helpfully he told me to put the back of the phone up to the scanner. I hadn't been aware of that.Me and 3 more with me all used our phones no problem whatsoever. Guy behind me used his but it wouldn't work until I told him to check his nfc was turned on, it wasn't. I agree with one of the posts above, in a lot of cases it's not the technology, it's the users, but it's a learning curve so shoukd get smoother
Alternatively, you can open the barcode and put the phone in the slot for it to be read.Fair point. I was half joking with the steward that I didn't know what to do. Helpfully he told me to put the back of the phone up to the scanner. I hadn't been aware of that.
What? You mean they were being asked to walz through the turnstile?!they were just letting people go through in 3/4. Why does the ticketing never work on the first game?
Lasts for 2 seasons equates to £10 per seasonSeason Ticket cards worked perfectly, well worth the 20 quid
Mine only works from the front of the phone.Fair point. I was half joking with the steward that I didn't know what to do. Helpfully he told me to put the back of the phone up to the scanner. I hadn't been aware of that.
I joined the queue 20 mins before kick off and although I had no trouble with my ticket, others had problems and I missed kick off. I expect things will speed up once people get used to it.
Idiots is perhaps a bit harsh. Unprepared may be kinder and hopefully will know better next time.Idiots who didn't have their phones ready to go, waiting until they got to the gate then trying to open the digital wallet.
Only on Android I was toldHow many people have realised there's also a bar code on their digital ticket which you can use as an alternative? Look at the bottom of the page. "Show code".
Maybe the stewards weren't 100% up to speed. The one on our gate was maybe a bit more clued in, as he told us from the off to put the phone in the slot with the bar code in first.to say there weren't problems is simply a nonsense. Just because some, probably even the majority didn't have a problem, doesn't mean there weren't problems. Even the steward couldn't get the scanner to read our codes and it was only when we actually put the phone in to the machine itself it actually read them. And one poster of here couldn't get in at all with his and was told to go to the ticket office. We arrived at about 2:15 and there were already big queues at gates 3-4 and 7-8.
Near Field communication, a technology that relies on a frequency that only works over very short distances (inches)What's an NFC?
Yes, I’m apple and there’s no “show code” or barcode.Only on Android I was told
Hopefully the ones running the turnstile tech are more competent than the company that does the EPOS in the concourse, one of the card readers, all on poles that someone has tried to glue down has come unstuck.I’ve waited years to finally read a post about NFC on here. I feel all warm inside!!
As Wiz says NFC is just a format for transmitting. It’s like a little radio device inside your phone. The plastic reader at the turnstile is waiting to read what your phone transmits.
It’s the tech that is used on tap and go payment systems, the underground in London etc. Apple phones have a really good one built in, Android is dependent on the manufacturer. Apple is always on, Android you have to switch it on.
Once you get used to it, it will always work quickly. I deployed this type of tech in a US stadium that holds 60k and it should be robust as hell. (Although I don’t know who BFC use for their tech)
See 20s post above - there are definitely problems with the system. I'm an Android user and was unaware that I would have to stick the bloody barcode on my digital ticket inside the reader to get throughSo was it the user or the system?
The Q just wasn’t moving and seemed to be 50/50 whether someone got in with no issue to someone who just couldn’t get through for whatever reason.
Surely if you are not confident using it you have had it up at home so you know exactly what you need to do and even when you are approaching the turnstile you have it ready as opposed to trying to sort it the second you get there?
