Cases up by 58%, over 8k today
Deaths up by 10%, 17 today
Hospital admissions up by 14% 173 today

Not a chance full easing will take place on 21st June, at this rate I’m not sure it will happen for at least 2 months or maybe more.

Hopefully this “delta” strain will burn itself out.

Edit to add; we currently have the 5th highest daily rate of cases in the world, again we are ** this up!

That’s one additional death and a further 21 hospitalisations. I’m not sure ‘grim’ is a valid way to describe these increases. Perhaps ‘insignificant’ is more accurate.
 
R rate up especially in north west, so cases will start to escalate and they don’t know how that will affect hospitalisations and deaths. So yes, there will be a delay

The speed with which you jump to a racist assumption says a lot.
i meant it is those who have declined an invitation to be vaccinated. Stop that group holding society to ransom and the freedoms to live in a liberal country return to us all.

We have given over 70 million vaccinations. We have been locked up like caged animals for over a year What the are we meant to do. Sick to death of it all now, it’s now or never. Let’s say we lock down again till September and then everyone starts getting ill again, because they will as it’s winter. There has to be an end to it all ffs.

I was speaking to someone today whose wife has been struck with covid badly. She's had both vaccines so it's not necessarily correct.

And that is because the transmission rates are too high as too few have vaccinated. Vaccines do not entirely remove the chance of catching it, but when too many are inoculated for the virus to survive then all of us have a greater chance of swerving it entirely.
Anyway what I think you meant to say was sorry for implying I was racist.
 
Just on another point, if things are so bad and heading south then why is there still 18,000 pissed up people at the cricket 😂😂🤔 you can’t tell me it’s ok this week then next we must lock ourselves away again. It’s the Liverpool Madrid game all over again. It can’t happen.

I’ll be shocked if they open up. There waiting on the kids holidays to start so mid July is about right.
If they delay till mid July the vaccinations numbers will be decent.
The question is how long do the vaccines last ?

I share your frustration Michelle like the vast majority of the public. You being involved in hospitality like millions of others and the likes of me who like the benefits of hospitality it’s time we just got on with living alongside Covid. Yes l know people are still catching it and unfortunately there are resulting deaths but FFS there are millions who are struggling with mental health problems and those that are dying because they can’t get the treatment they deserves and need.
 
Anyone who gets their under 18 child vaccinated with this needs charging with child abuse. No one knows the long term affects of these hastily created vaccines but we all know statistically healthy u18s have a zero chance of dying from covid. The jab is more dangerous to the young than the disease...

We’ll be testing cats and dogs soon. This extension has been manufactured completely, testing in hotspot areas, school kids and false positives.

If restrictions were lifted the Wembley at the Euros would be full, what a statement to Europe about our vaccine rollout, instead we’ve flapped it to vaccinate people who have never been at risk but now magically are. Fuckin nonsense.

Weak as piss this is. Lots of livelihoods and businesses really now on the brink, bent over for cases of people who in many cases aren’t actually ill and have no symptoms.

I am sick of this shite now, I really feel for many people who are going to be struggling massively both mentally and financially with restrictions extended whilst we host a G7 summit and a European football tournament.

If you agree with this extension you need your head testing, fuckin hell best rephrase that or the government will add you to their numbers.

Utter disgrace.

People need to wake up and stop being tested. As these swabs pick up parts of any old virus you may have which gives a positive test result along with all the false positives
I’ve had a constant cough and a dry throat since I’ve started wearing the masks. Breathing all your own shit in so I’ve stopped wearing them.
if these so called masks work how is everybody catching this so called Indian variant

Just for balance I had a terrible sinus infection last week. I caught it off someone for sure, the Airbourne little fecker.
I was really ill for 4 or 5 days and needed medical assistance (antibiotics in the end).

Lesson is if I’d have stayed in and not worked I’d probably have been safe. My infection might have killed someone frail too but bring youngish and fit I was fine in the end.
Not sure who’s bringing home the bacon though if I can’t go to work - hopefully someone else can give me money to stay at home in future?

This has to end at some stage or we will fuck up the young generation mentally and who’s funding and caring for the elderly in that case?
 
PCR test is a scam anyway...all they do if they don't find something is increase the sensitivity and test again, and test again...you could basically find covid in a rock if you wanted to by ever increasing thrle sensitivity (safe space warning slight exaggeration to prove my point) takes zero consideration of viral load or even the risk category of the tester...you find covid in a 15 year old and they are more at risk of danger from a ** meteorite

Far too much obsession with cases now instead of real health risks. Just about everyone who is at danger of covid has already been vaccinated. Its time to stop everything aruund covid and get on with life
 
I would imagine the government will want a couple of weeks to monitor admissions, if they're stable enough they'll reopen everything, the trouble is there's no predicting it, just good guesswork. Johnson will be desperate to avoid delays, his party will turn on him if it goes on, but it's prudent to follow the data.

If, as is likely, admissions don't spike, that has to be it done now, I ** hope so,

This actually raises a good point...all the other viruses, colds, illnesses etc we all have as a human race all the time I wonder how many of those have had a knock on effect beyond the individual I bet dave next door who got the flu and picked up 81 year old mavis paper over the road every morning has passed it on to her and she's died from pneumonia a few weeks later. It's quite scary the whole six degrees of separation thing but as a society we can't continue in this current covid safety protocol. Life is ** dangerous...it just is
 
I'm obviously far from Johnson's biggest fan, but this is a shitty decision to have to make either way, it's ok for us to pontificate but we're not going to have to deal with the death and economic disaster if we make the wrong call. I hope he makes the right one either way.

I'd have no idea which way to go.

Just outside the JCVI group 1 - 9, not in the best health after spending 30 or so years behind a desk but no actual indicated "vulnernable" conditions, my second jab isn't due for another 6 weeks and I'm one of the forum's most expert poster on the science.

You're al'rite jack, I'm not so sure.

While I would agree that the jabs are more dangerous to the young than the disease, I believe that children should be vaccinated should their parents/guardians want them to be.
