US Open

Until today's monsoon Hoylake was fried. They've also made it easier with a mickey mouse novelty par three and taking out loads of dog roses.

The Open is still a month away so I'm not bothered about the course conditions just yet but why is Fleetwood's game any less suited to Hoylake than Birkdale ?

He often gets himself in to contention at the majors and home advantage - crowd support and home comforts, not necessarily course know how - won't do him any harm.

He'll be competing all of the best golfers in the world and they don't give majors away but surely he has as good a chance of winning a major on his doorstep at Hoylake as anywhere else ?

Well excuse me for mentioning the course conditions 🙄
The fact is these golfers play the bulk of their tournaments on manicured courses of one kind or another and rarely go near a links. Not that Hoylake looks much like a links these days with its watered fairways and tidy rough.

Rory giving it St Andrew vibes here can’t hole a putt.

Hope he does it 🙏🏼

Clark’s up and downs have been different class.

Sorry about that, I just meant that with the Open a month away, the current conditions of the course at Hoylake don't have that much to do with Tommy's chances of winning.

Obviously you can refer to the current conditions if you so wish.

Rory's fecked so bedtime beckons and no doubt the Open will be discussed in more detail in the next month.

Maybe you can provide up-to-date information on the course conditions on the run up to Open at Hoylake :)

I can certainly provide up to date info on the complete balls up Wirral Council are making of the tournament parking where we live 2020 🤣👍

Clark needs a par on the 18th to win it.
His 3rd goes within a foot from 22 out and he walks with his fist clenched, good putt under that pressure.
He duly slots it in to win by 1 from McIlroy.

Hoylake is more of a plotter's course, with no need to take a driver. That's his best asset when on song.

Plus Birkdale is literally on his doorstep. Hoylake is 20 miles away 😉

Well done Clark, held his nerve for an impressive victory.
Didn't watch the last 10 holes but apparently Rory couldn't buy a putt🤷
2nd in 2 of the 3 majors this season, another win ain't that far off👍🏻

Gutted for Rory but Clark was deserving of his first Major. To have the likes of McIlroy, Scheffler and Fowler all amongst it on the final round and still come out on top shows more than just ability.

Fantastic nights viewing, Ricky looked nervous on the 1st tee and showed through out his round. Rory made simple mistakes with some approach shots and couldnt hole any puts. Thought Clark was going to break down on 18 but held his nerve and a great win.
As for our other British superstars(sic), they cant put four good rounds in regular.

Special mention to Min Woo Lee - local Perth boy. Top 5 finish in a Major, and one of my favourite golf swings. Shame about R3 otherwise he'd have been right up there.
